Bobby Sands, was a man. mortal. he died as we all do.
But, the difference between those such as him, and the ordinary man, is that he will forver live on in the hearts and memories of millions. He has gained his immortality through his example and the legacy he created.
So criticise and insult if you wish, but know this much, when you die, will murals be painted with your image? will millions of your countrymen regard you as a hero? no. You will be dust in the wind.

I was in Chicago when the news broke that Bobby had passed away. I would not have been an Englishman in that city for all the tea in China on that occasion. I was almost physically thrown out of several establishments because I spoke with a Scottish accent, as the locals mistook it for an English one. It was not until I explained my accent and heritage that I was left in peace. Bobby Sands will NEVER be forgotten.And I echo the sentiments of @reidoki. A United Ireland it shall be !

That night, we raised our glasses and I proposed the following toast: "There goes another of the bastards to hell!" A united Ireland it shall NEVER be for the simple reason that the Protestants of Northern Ireland would rather die in blood than live in filth.

The Northern Irish people ARE British. and if you believe you can eliminate the Ulster Protestants from their own country you are a fool. The only time Ireland was ever united was under the Crown. Before that, Ireland consisted of the four ancient kingdoms, Ulster, Munster, Leinster and Connaught. Read some history before you make any other silly remarks.

Because you are born in a stable does not make you a horse.Your ancestors were planted in Ireland by The English who forced themselves on the native people. Ulster as it is today i.e. Six Counties, is not the original nine counties that constitute the ancient kingdom you refer to. Contemporary Ulster is a fake democracy as it was gerrymandered to ensure a Protestant majority loyal to The Crown in London.

In fact the border was ratified by three parliaments - Westminster, Stormont and the Dail Eirann. Also your "stable" analogy does not hold water. The Protestants settled in Ulster before the Pilgrims left for America. By your convoluted logic, the white man does not belong in the USA any more than the Protestants belong in Ulster. (cont'd)

@RobRoyBoaz It may surprise you but I too have issues with the English. When Henry II invaded Ireland circa 1174, he did so with the authority of Pope Adrian VI who was seeking to expand the papal empire. So you see it was England which brought the curse of popery to Ireland. For a few centuries, there was no problem because both countries served the pope. However, once England embraced the Gospel and the Reformation, all hell broke loose. (cont'd)

@RobRoyBoaz Instead of sending Christian Missionaries to Ireland and giving the Irish people the Holy Bible in their own language, England sent soldiers to crush the people. As a result, the Irish clung to popery as if they had invented it. There is the root of the whole Irish problem to the present day. The Ulster Protestants remain loyal to the Crown ONLY so long as the Crown remains Protestant. We realize that we have no friends among English politicians. They just think of us as Paddies.

Thank God, one branch of my family rejected popery and embraced the Gospel at the time of the Reformation. 2) Since the plantation of Ulster occurred prior to the departure of the Pilgrims to America, by your convoluted logic, the White Man has no more right to be in the USA than the Protestants have to be in Ireland.
