How many people leave American for surgery? A lot. In 2007, it was estimated to be 750,000. In 2008, it was 1.5m. Why? Not because we have bad doctors here, but because we're so expensive.
Voters voices need to be shouted! Do you believe in Barak's new health Care plan?? Go over to my tube profile to see exactly why Americas points of view matters !
Netherland & Switzerland, 99% coverage and no public plan, but insurance companies are regulated like utility companies. Taiwan & Singapore have best medical care system in the world, 99% coverage, high quality, NO WAITING, and they are government run with less 5% GDP. Unreasonable premium, preexisting condition exclusion, changing drug formulary, deny treatment, medicare drug GAP for Senior are just plain wrong. Come on my fellow American, let us fix the healthcare for our children sakes!
The commodification of human health is fundamentally a good thing in that allows stakeholders to extract value from policy holders in exchange for truncated service
I wish there was a hospital cashier. The major problem with our system is that all the payments are made by third parties (a few big insurance companies and the federal government).
If people paid cash for more health products and services, providers would have an incentive to provide price and results transparency, which in turn would lead to competition. With competition would come lower costs, lower prices, and better outcomes.
A large percentage of profit in any company goes into investment in capital, such as updating facilities, building new facilities, and research and technology for new products. This is what makes a private health care system unique. It is true that a socialized system is better at basic care services, but profit allows for new devices, new medicines, and the possibility of major cures to major illnesses.
not completely true a3bora. i think 'greed before People via healthcare' is unfair. Rudy skates past 'Medical Tourism' and risks we take because we Can Not afford what is offered.
Profit for HealthCare is normal. Capitalism isn't solely based on profit though...it drives ingenuity. Half of our health care cost is for technological advancement.
Profits just mean that people are willing to pay more for a good than it costs to make (which is good: we shouldn't produce something if the cost exceeds what people are willing to pay for it).
In a competitive market economic profit tends toward zero. Health care in the US is not very competitive, but if you confiscated the profits of all the hospitals, insurance companies, etc and put the money back into the system, you would only pay for FOUR DAYS worth of American health care per year.
Ain't that about a bitch? Hitlery now wants MI and FL delegates after the Democraps decided they weren't going to seat Florida and Michigan delegates. STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!
Mr. Guilliani has a change in mind that is worth listening more than 5 minutes to. I believe he is a knowlegable leader who can make needed changes. I wish him well and we hope to see him as our next President.

Im from the UK so you can see the problem with an NHS BUT I would rather fall sick in France or even the UK because I know my only worry is getting better. The rich favour the US but the average citizen gets a better deal in Western Europe/Canada.
The problem Goohli is you and your buds have allowed corporations to tell their retired workers, "Oh, that health care we promised you, well we've changed our minds and we 'can't afford' to keep our promise" leaving most boomers without retirement health plans. (Except themselves of course.)
Giuliani is deluded. Uninsured Americans cannot afford to spend tens of thousands of dollars to get treatment in the United States (surgeries, etc.) There are LOADS of incidences where people have looked for more affordable care elsewhere.
The most ridiculous things about the American health system most be that, even though it is all private, and so many people get nothing from it, then they still pay a LOT to have it threw there taxes. The reason is that the private health care system is one of the biggest users of the court system, and they don't pay for the court houses, judges and so on, YOU do. USA has more lawyers than the rest of the world combined. And the private health system is one of the biggest reasons for this.
you dont have to be a citizen to get treatment you dumbass. you do have to be a citizen to get federally funded health insurance in Europe! people dont go overseas because we have the best doctors here.
That is exactly right. Since 1985 it has been a federal law that hospital emergency rooms must treat anyone who arrives -- regardless of ability to pay.
An enormous financial burden, we haven't yet fixed.
Tellya, at one point he was a front runner then it was Mitt Romney now Mike huckabee is gettin up there. things change, hopefully they will changei n favor of Giuliani again. As for him hiring criminals, the man wasnt a criminal at the time. Thats like saying you suck as a person cuz your brother went to jail. If you think the Clinton administration was bad, it's you who is the moron.
Rudy is hated in NY so don't be fooled by the media saying he's a front runner. Look at the NY polls, He cant win in his home state so don't be fooled. He hires crooks and allows illegals in his city. Now he's dogging questions about spending tax payer money for personal trips to the Hampton's. Don't let this guy con you. He's as bad as The Clintons. This idiot put his command center in a place that was a know target for terrorism. MORON!!!! and you'd be a MORON to vote for him.
To give healthcare into the control of multinational corporations that operate on a for profit basis is like assuming thaat to pay a wolf to care for your flocks is sensible. If Mr Giuliani was sincere about healthcare, why has he done nothing for the true heroes of 911? An estimated 15 thousand in NY are dying from one of the most attrocious false flag operations in the history of human kind.
"profit basis". exactly. therefore it wouldnt be logical to have prices and rates sky high would it? the magic of free market at work =) what is this false flag operation you speak of? i sincerely would like to know.
and no, we dont have the best system health care in the world, Europe does..and you are saying the free market drives the prices down..well, how come we have the most expensive health care in the world..for the same procedure you pay 5 times less money in europe(without insurance) then here in the us ..to me , it shows that a government regulated healt care does keep the prices down
guiliani , i"ll tell you why no Americains go to Europe for health care, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BE A CITIZEN, you dumbass...if you live there and work there, you will get free (cheap) health care...
Well that is not totally right. We also have private hospitals here, so in fact you could go here. And it is not that rare that people here go to another European country to get an operation, or another treatment. But I have never heard of anyone going to USA for it. And if for no other reason, then because the quality/price ratio is ridiculously low in USA.
And where did Angelina Jolie go? Are you saying that the hospitals are better in Namibian than in USA? or would you agree with my that that's just the most stupid argument ever! By the way: infant mortality in England is 0.48% and USA is 0.63% that's fucking higher than Cuba, the Czech Republic, South Korea and so on. Wake up!
no you dont you dumbass lol imma get shot in London and wait to fly home to NY to get treatment? please! you have to be a citizen to get federally funded health care, not treatment. and we have the most expensive cuz of health insurance companies! like Giuliani asks, how is it that poor folk can eventually get cell phones, t.v.'s, and radios? = free market economy
If doctors are willing to favor a goverment driven health care plan, is not because they are being force by officials, it is because government driven programs are more willing to pay what the demands asks for.
Companies are always cuting here and there, to satisfy share holders interests. And this is where the problem is that is damages the quality of health care the the patient needs and deserves.
HMO or health care provider need to step away from encouraging doctors that if they try not to refer any patients to other facilities or specialists they will get a bonus.
Only a doctor knows what the symtoms are and what procedures did to be know to care for the sick. We do not want HMO or health care companies telling people what is medical neccessary.
First if this were to be possible, it needs to be regulated to the core, of what he says. first decisions should be made by the doctor and HMO should not influence doctors in any way how to do their job. Second HMO would have to pay for what the demand is asking. Third these health care companies should be restricted on how many shares holders should own a stake on the companies.
Market-based healthcare is not the answer. Healthcare is the single most important issue in the 2008 election. United States is the only Western industrialized nation with out universal healthcare. The private sector is not stable enough for healthcare. Our own health is at stake here. Kucinich is the only canidate who coauthored the HR 676 bill, a bill that was supposed to lead to a more healthier and prosperous America through single-payer, universal healthcare.
Our health-care system is not identical to the medical prowess and money's-worth of our medical professionals... Importing patients says nothing about the first, much about the second.
Will someone Please PIN the Phoney RUDY to answer the Question: Why Did he stay away from Building 7 on 9-11 Day? He knew early in the day that it was going to be blown up! Or " Pulled Down" in the quoted words of the buildings OWNER ! How could the building be loaded with the proper explosives to be installed while the building is burning! all in one day ! What Bullshit !
Oh, and Giuliani? Ask the FDNY how he took care of their members. "they hate us for our freedoms" is his analysis of the attack on 9/12, pro-wiretapping, pro patriot act, anti-gun and sean hannity is his lap dog. Sean freaking hannity. Rudy, get off the bus.
We have the worst health care system possible: half socialized/half corporate. This has produced medicare which won't survive the boomers retirement wave, the HMOs that don't work, and it's given Pharma the keys to capitol hill to write our drug laws. Get government out of it completely and create an actual "free" market. One candidate gets it: Ron Paul 2008
Fuck socialized medicine. Rudy is right on cutting taxes, cutting spending, school choice (education reform), and health care. He isn't right on abortion or gun control, so I'll be voting for Ron Paul. And yes, we need free-market solutions to health care.
"The American way" of healthcare of which Rudy is so proud has managed to produce the most expensive system in the world. Per Capita healthcare spending in 2004: US $6102, UK $2546, Canada $3165, France $3159.
The "socialized medicine" systems that Rudy derides in the UK, Canada and France have lower Infant Mortality rates and higher Life Expectancy than the US.
Infant Mortality Rate: US 6.4, UK 5, Canada 4.6, France 3.4
Life Expectancy: US 78, UK 78.7, Canada 80.3, France 80.6
Then get a job with insurance. Most people just go for the hourly pay, and can careless about insurance until something goes wrong. I would rather pay out some money and see a doctor right away, as opposed to waiting months or years to go see a doctor.
NOTE: Rudy HIMSELF says he's a neo-Nazi who HATES democracy and free speech. EX: go to the videos put up by HIS team and his allies and note they block ANY COMMENTS by taxpayers (b/c they don't care at all what we think) and many of Rudy's videos ONLY ALLOW Pro-Rudy comments. Exactly like Hitler and Saddam. Probably coincidence, right?
having the most advanced techniques is not the same thing as having the "best healthcare system." The profit motive is not in the best interest of the patient. I deal with this every day -- delay and denial ... they are banking the pt will either get well in spite of no care, or die and not need any more care.
Giuliani is wrong. We do NOT have the best healthcare system in the world. Over 40 million Americans are uninsured. We rank #1 for most expensive healthcare system in the world, and #22 in health outcomes. We rank after Turkey for crying out loud. I believe in universal health care...no one should DIE because they are poor.
If the police and fire depts and military in the USA are all SOCIALIST (govt-run monopolies) then the GOP is admitting they LOVE Socialism. Can any Republican explain how Reagan LOVED Communism while pretending he didn't? HOW was Reagan's SuperMilitary free-market? What "choice" did we consumers have?
Rudy's far worse than this implies. EX: he got caught in many scandals related to 9/11 that directly killed the firemen. EX: he got caught trying to steal the widows money. (Look it up.) The man even PUBLICLY SAID (in 1999) that we should "BLOW UP" public buildings (re: NYC's Board Of Ed)! ONLY in America can the corporate media spin a crook like this into a legit candidate.
Rudy Giuliani is a 911 CRIMINAL. He was complict in the planning, execution and cover-up of mass murder, treason and crimes against humanity on 911. He must be indicted, arrested, and tried for these crimes. Punishment should be to the full extant of the law, and commensurate with the crimes. Double check the noose knot....
Make sure the trap door is working properly....911 JUSTICE NOW
If the US wants to change it's heathcare it should look at the system the Swiss have. A basic HC plan is in place for all it's citizens that is far more generous than anything the US has, but they can also buy their own to get shorter waiting lists, better doctors, more resting time after surgeries etc. It's not perfect, but it is better than a full blown universal plan (ie Canada) or leaving millions of children without insurance.
As for denouncing universal health care, anyone who wants to know that side of the arguement should read Mark Steyn's "America Alone". It's a wonderful book and he spends a few chapters talking about European, Canadian and Japanese health care plans. On one of the Japanese islands a OB/GYN in flown in twice a week from one of the other islands, so the 20,000+ women on this island only can see a OB/GYN 2 days out of 7. Thats only one example of what is in the book.
Well, do you know of any American waiting lines? Don't we have the most advanced medical technology? Aren't many people from nations like Canada and Britain coming here for fast treatment? It does work, but of course we still have flaws that need to be worked out. But the solution is not to radically change the system into a gov't-controlled one. That just increases bureaucratic fumbling and controls and all kinds of crap. We need surefire rational changes that are not radical.
You can have universal healthcare without loosing the competative, free-market nature of the current US health system. Simply replace (or embelish) private health insurance with state-provided health insurance. Not medicare, or medicaid; but a real investment in people's health and future. That way, you can go to any hospital you wish and receive treatment at a high standard without waiting lists.
Replace private insurance and competition with bullshit gov't insurance? That only increases bureaucracy and inefficiency! What we need, if anything, is to allow gov't funding to keep costs low but still allow private competition to keep efficiency high. We CAN have a private-public partnership in health care that works. Not complete universal health care or complete free market insurance.
The people that have gotten their surgeries were RICH (WERE THEY NOT)! ONLY THE WEALTHY GET THE BEST HEALTHCARE IN THIS COUNTRY, WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US?! In Canada (or w/universal healthcare), MORE people get healthcare, AS LONG AS THERE'S ENOUGH DOCTORS TO GO AROUND. You SHOULD listen to KUCINICH'S healthcare plan (as "igspal" suggests). As for him being ugly, HE IS, but WHO CARES?!!!
I live in Canada and I know plenty of people that have gone to the US for surgeries because they would have died on our waiting lists. So when Democrats or other left wing politicians talk about universal health care remember that.
But isn't it also true that Germany has a pretty efficient universal health care system? You might wanna lobby your representatives in Parliament to try their techniques instead of the failed Canadian system.
USA IS RANKED 37TH IN THE WORLD FOR HEALTHCARE! WE ALSO PAY MORE PER CAPITA!!! DENNIS KUCINICH's "Universal Health Plan" seems to be our best solution....VOTE FOR DENNIS KUCINICH!!!
Yes, helping people and not going to war against Iran and actually talking to the Middle East is "lunatic." Actually trying to move towards peace is somehow evil. We HAVE to spend $450 Billion a year on an overblown terrorist threat with a ridiculous fear campaign done by the Bush Admin. Rather than spending that money on educating kids, more access to health care, or fighting crime.
How many people leave American for surgery? A lot. In 2007, it was estimated to be 750,000. In 2008, it was 1.5m. Why? Not because we have bad doctors here, but because we're so expensive.
Get a clue, Rudy.

McCain is the best republican candidate, but of course the GOP are so dumb (sorry) they're attempting to destroy him.

Here is my Giuliani impersonation:
"9/11, 9/11 9/11 9/11, I was America's mayor. I lived through September 11th. In this post 9-11 world you must elect me."

having the most advanced techniques is not the same thing as having the "best healthcare system." The profit motive is not in the best interest of the patient.

Thats only one example of what is in the book.

paying twice as much as other rich western countries and then saying:"it works because of free market and our genius" is pretty ridicolous.
Eurobubble70 4 years ago
Well, do you know of any American waiting lines? Don't we have the most advanced medical technology? Aren't many people from nations like Canada and Britain coming here for fast treatment? It does work, but of course we still have flaws that need to be worked out. But the solution is not to radically change the system into a gov't-controlled one. That just increases bureaucratic fumbling and controls and all kinds of crap. We need surefire rational changes that are not radical.

Most advanced technology for those who can pay for it. The rest of us just suffer and die.

As for him being ugly, HE IS, but WHO CARES?!!!
grjcbs 4 years ago
I live in Canada and I know plenty of people that have gone to the US for surgeries because they would have died on our waiting lists. So when Democrats or other left wing politicians talk about universal health care remember that.
batmaneul 4 years ago
But isn't it also true that Germany has a pretty efficient universal health care system? You might wanna lobby your representatives in Parliament to try their techniques instead of the failed Canadian system.

Canada isn't the only universal healthcare system in the world.

USA IS RANKED 37TH IN THE WORLD FOR HEALTHCARE! WE ALSO PAY MORE PER CAPITA!!! DENNIS KUCINICH's "Universal Health Plan" seems to be our best solution....VOTE FOR DENNIS KUCINICH!!!

he's a lunatic ta boot.
mylegsareswollen 4 years ago
Yes, helping people and not going to war against Iran and actually talking to the Middle East is "lunatic." Actually trying to move towards peace is somehow evil. We HAVE to spend $450 Billion a year on an overblown terrorist threat with a ridiculous fear campaign done by the Bush Admin. Rather than spending that money on educating kids, more access to health care, or fighting crime.
