because its in central zeke machine, and so the architecture design need the water too make cool down temperature inside. could you all imagine how hot inside the machine with laser and Nuke pod around you? Zeke is not In same time in Gundam OR Patlabor time era. Its 70 Era man =D

I always thought it was because if the cockpit was filled with water it would be easier to Zeke and the Paz to absorb the  shocks from missiles

2:It's a big steel box and they are near the equator. I imagine it's very hot.
