  • What's with all the chirping birds in the background? They shot this scene at night.

  • Wow, what great dialogue. What great writing. Amazingly fresh look at that old tried and true story. Never thought of Dracula as being lonely have we? Top-shelf writing. Top shelf.

  • Williem..made the character his own..thats what I say

  • Dafoe should have won the Oscar for this. Such a shame.

  • Williem Dafoe would have deserved the Oscar.

  • He was nominated for this and I still think he should have won. He did a great job of reacting the scenes from "Nosferatu".

  • indeed.that would make sense.fine point in good film.

  • I would put this movie in comedy. To shut up a vampire and make him go quietly back to the set, that is real power over and is FUNNY!!!

  • I still dont understand , Max Schreck is a real actor not a vampire he had other roles , is it historical or , fiction based off history

  • Completely fictional

  • It can be fictional(which it is) but it cant be completely because it is about the making of a real film in 1922 with the names of the real actors , so it is both historical and fictional

  • To put it simply, it is a fictional "making-of" dramatization. A sort of "what-if" scenario. What if Max Schreck was so good as Count Orlock because he WAS Count Orlock? It's also interesting to note the director-actor relationship this film shows. Some actors are difficult to work with and directors have to make concessions for them. Like working with a vampire.

  • i have to se this movie !!

  • Willem Dafoe is amazing. You can tell he really researched Schreck's performance and movements. There is only one Max, but Dafoe is still the man. Great movie and it makes me love Nosferatu even more. Only thing I would have changed was the teeth they gave Orlok, but apart from that it was stunningly beautiful and authentic.

  • Yeah, a bit.

  • Good movie but i read Dracula and don't remember anything about Dracula setting a table. i don't know what the hell Orlock is talking about

  • Nope, the scene is definitely in the book. It's removed from most abridged copies, though, so maybe you read an abridged version? I read the abridged version (unwittingly - hadn't realised I'd picked up that version) first, and was really surprised just how much they'd axed from the novel when I re-read the full thing later.

As for this clip - I love this move and this scene. I just wish they'd carried the clip on to the point where he talks about the one who sired him. Excellent film :)

  • yes, i think the whole movie is darkly funny. my friend and i used to write comedy sketch-parodies of this scene, like where albin and henrik ask him about tomato soup and other blood-resembling foods. funny stuff. AND I WISH SOMEONE WOULD POST THE WHOLE FILM!

  • dramatic and funny

  • Very dramatic. Nice touch.
