  • I'm french and i don't understand... Can anyone translate this in simply word please ?

  • Onions? I thought it was Chop Top

  • @stengner very interesting thanks you. but i was actually hoping someone new the name of the track shawn said he made..

  • CAN ANYONE TELL ME where i can hear this thing he's talking about thats like "didly didly insanity" that shaun made and buckethead tried to figure it out? i wants to hear it!!!!

  • @ZachMetalAsFuck It's a Shawn Lane piece called "Kaiser Nancarrow". :)

  • @eaturpiez Don't worry, i cut the video out after that point. ;)

  • "I don't know whether I should say his real name, because He might send Onions after me." Only if Lane and Buckethead had made that album...history.

  • i was never into shawn lane but it saddens me because i can see he is truly amazing just going from how much some of you all love his stuff! massive respect for him and maybe 1 day my tastes will shift towards his music like a fine wine! :d

  • Where can I find this bootleg of him playing Nancarrow (inspired?) compositions?

  • 4,000 times a year

  • hey kids! onions here! lmao

  • Who is the composer he mentions? It sounds like an unusual name and I can't make it out.

  • @YummyBananaFish Conlon Nancarrow :)

  • @Sitrukpiano Thanks a lot!

  • rip shawn truly missed

  • Why are all Shawn lane videos fucked up looking? He is respected from world class martial art black belt guitar GODS!! His videos are fucked up low budget looking?

  • @dannyhood66 Because sadly, mostly all that exists of him in video format is from home video/bootlegs.

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos I dont think he even tried to get his name out there? Because i never heard of him until buckethead mentioned his name in guitar player magazine 05, and back in the 80s i listened to all the guys he taught like Paul Gilbert and a few others anyways, I should have heard about him through mike varney at least..He had all of shawns bootlegs either that or his mother still does

  • Fuck yeah! Buckethead does the most insane beautiful music Ive ever heard..Songs like ''I love my parents" and hills of eternity" are a drop in the bucket. He puts new albums out constantly..But it helps to know what style it is before you buy a CD because you never know what you'll get from buckethead? I really respect this dude Shawn man! Not to mention he has the most terrifying fingers a guitarist could have..This guy even scares the shredding guitarist !!

  • has anyone seen shawn lane and buckethead in the same room?

  • @thepeter Yeah, theres a video of Shawn and Buckethead. Buckethead is playing and Shawn is rapping (yes rapping)

  • Comment removed

  • @istillbowlverywell

    do you have a link?

  • @dahudge14 yeah, just type in shawn lane and buckethead, it should be the 2nd video that comes up

  • Wow this guy is amazing i unfortunately saw his name on a Buckethead video and just found out about this guy....R.I.P man

If im not mistaken Bucketheads real name is Brian Carrol, i love bucketheads music, one of the most amazing guitar players the world will ever have, I just started to listen to this guy today, hes really great

  • DIDLELEDLOODLEDODELDOEDOO!! INSANITY!! Hahaha I love that part

  • @Som1onu2be ...ROFL!! :D

  • so buckethead is one of shawn's greatest creations

  • RIP Shawn!

  • that is the single most beautiful ibanez i've ever laid my eyes on

  • I bet Buckethead and Shawnlane are clones

  • I have done some extensive, extensive reserach and I believe that Buckethead and Shawn Lane are the two fastest, greatest guitar players to ever live.

If this album ever saw the light of day I'm sure it would be some pretty insane stuff.

This is a very cool video, thanks for sharing.

  • OMG what guitar is that??

  • Buckethead's real name is Brian Patrick Carroll. And I WANT him to hunt me down.

  • It seems Shawn met Buckethead as a teenager because when you listen Brazos by Buckethead, an audition tape for a guitar contest, Buckethead does some finger nubs.

  • If you check out that old newspaper cutting of Buckethead (without the mask on), he already listed Shawn as an influence by that point.

  • Check out wildhorsestudios video called,

    Class X Montage 2

    (no mask)

  • Did they actually do a recording?

  • Sadly, not as far as i know... tis a shame.

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos

I've asked Buckethead and Buckethead posted on FAQ 2.0 that he did do some recordings with Shawn Lane but they are not sure if they're going to release it in the future. Hope they do. :)

  • @shadowknight132 Wow that's the first i've heard of that, that's awesome news if true!!... though i'm pretty sure Shawn's old friend Mick Trammel specifically told me they never actually recorded together..... i hope he was wrong! :-)

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos

Apparently so. If that was true, Buckethead would not have said anything about the unsure possibilities of the recordings reaching the surface. I guess Shawn Lane didn't talk much about the recording because he wanted it to be surprise. Anyways google "Buckethead FAQ 2" and search the list for Shawn Lane, question 55.

  • @shadowknight132 That's great news for people from both the Shawn Lane and Buckethead communuty!! :-D .... Cheers!!

  • Nancarrow, Study no.21 Sounds like Bucketheads trademark tapping.

  • wow, so Shawn Lane basically created the monster that is Buckethead. It kind of reminds me of how Chet Atkins learned to play by mimicking what he thought was one guitar part, turned out to be composed for two guitars. Not sure what song it was, but either way, talk about an awesome misunderstanding :) Although, I feel like I have blue balls, considering I almost got to find out Buckethead's real name :P

  • @averylicious22 yes allen holdsworth as well. He, Shawn, and Guhrie are my trifecta of inspiration haha. They are unstoppable

  • Nice . RIP

  • Bill Mosley is also in the start of the remake of night of the living dead from the early 90s

  • Great post.

  • is there another part to this? =]

  • Hi Laura.... not really, there was only another second or two after this. I just cut this video off right at the point where Shawn mentioned Buckethead's first name, and that is all there was on that subject.

Btw... looking forward to seeing "This is It".

  • ahh ... ok thankyou =] but doesnt everyone know bucks first name? lol shawn lane was an amazing guitarist thanks for the upload =]

...and yes i am so exited im off to see it sometime over this weekend =]

  • R.I.P. shawn lane. shawn lane and buckethead aree two of the best guitarists in the world. we'll miss you!

  • i didn't know that "singer" (Onions) from BH-land was actually one of the actors of TCM2! :-O

  • hes in house of a 1000 corpses and devils rejects too...i cant remember what else but hes a pretty big actor

  • Another thing I have in common with "B"...

    1) Favorite guitarist... Shawn Lane

    2) Favorite Martial Artist... Bruce Lee

    3) Favorite B-baller... Micheal Jordon

    4) And such fondness for Texas Chainsaw pt 2;)

  • Seems like he was a nice guy.

  • Joey Vines asking Shawn about Buckethead! Seems like it was just last week... This was an awesome Clinic, but I remember walking out feeling like I'd been in math class! R.I.P. Shawn..

  • Not only is he the best guitar player ever, he's got a brilliant personality and a wonderful sense of humor. Seems like a lovely person to be around with.

  • nooooooooooooooooooooo the recording that could have been

  • i remember the first week i found out about him, had no clue he passed, and then i found out, i was in aww for a week

  • why must i cry why must i cry why?

  • I had the S series and that input jack IS a pain.....

  • Its one thing to be a top tier guitarist but its another thing when he seemed like such a truly good soft spoken person. A monsterous loss to the guitar world as well as the Human race....

  • Unlike Mr. Michael Angelo "FUCKING SHOWOFF" Batio.

  • Part of the world died with him.

  • @liketospeed888 You are right man. Shawn was coming out of a store on Summer Avenue one night and i recognized him and said hi. He came over to the car and we talked for a sec and he invited me over to his house to play sometime. Of course I never thought he would not be with us not long after.

  • I like the Ibanez S, but I perfer the input jack be on the side of the body, but i know they can't do that cause the body is 2 thin for that apparently.

If only they still made the 540R as a standard model .....

  • somebody please tell me the name of that classical composer he mentions?

  • Conlon Nancarrow.

  • did he ever do that recording with buckethead? I've never come across anything with the two together (at least not where shawn actually plays lol)

  • No, unfortunately they never actually recorded anything together, that would have been something to hear.

  • do my eyes deceive me or is that an ibanez?

  • Yes, it's Shawn's 24 fret custom version of an S series Ibanez.

  • yeah, i mean, it definitely looks like an s, theres just so many frets.

    love it.

although i must admit, im torn between getting an S series and a PGM(I want a shred guitar). any thoughts?

  • Shawn, Shawn, Brian and Jonas would have been EPIC!

  • HOLY SHIT.

There was gonna be Shawn+Bucket album :(

  • Completely Fucking Rad!!!!!

  • 1:09 is hilarious.

  • Yeah, that bit always made me LOL.

  • ya its called 4 finger nubbing, I've never seen anyone do it better then buckethead.

  • Buckethead invented it.

  • whats he talking bout with the piano

  • 'Conlon Nancarrow' would program an Automatic Piano to play crazy pieces of music at super high speed.

  • o ok i thought he meant buckethead did the piano thing

  • Basically Shawn heard what Conlon Nancarrow did with automatic Pianos, so Shawn tried doing the same on guitar, recording 1 note each at a time, then editing them together at high speed...... then Buckethead head a recording of Shawn doing that, and thought Shawn was really actually playing it.... so Buckethead wanted to play that kind of thing so started doing the crazy tapping thing.

  • Wow to find out the 8 finger tapping of Buckethead was unintentionally influenced by Shawn Lane..

    Amazing

  • escuse me but i speak spanish and I CANT UNDERSTADN THIS!! HELP ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE WRITE ME WHAT SAY SHAWN

  • Wish the mentioned sean rickman, lane and bucket album came to fruition.

  • Apparently when this interview was recorded i believe that buckethead was with cornbug's at the time because the guy who he was talking about who played the guy with the metal plate in his head in TCM II was Bill Moseley but i'm not sure :) \m/

    Bunghole30 \m/

  • Was Buckethead "underground" at this time?

  • could he actualy play it??

  • can anyone catch the name of that composer he is talking about? and does any one have any of his recordings. or that tape that shawn made that influenced. i would be interested in hearing any of those.

  • The composer Shawn is talking about is "Conlon Nancarrow". Unfortunately i don't have any of his recordings.

  • Riffage: "We won't put your name in the piece if you don't want us to."

Buckethead: "Great -- that would be nice. I'd appreciate it."

  • is this from an interview??

which one it sounds pretty neat!!

(cant get enough of bucketheads crazy interviews lol!)

  • google 'binge and grab' and click the first link, then click 'what's he saying???' and finally click 'living with the chickens'

  • Riffage: "How do you feel about people knowing your true identity?"

Buckethead: "I'd rather it not happen...."

  • That's why i cut this video off a second before Shawn mentioned his (first) name.

  • unfortunately his name is floating out there on a picture of him without his mask all over the internet right now

  • hahahaha shawn lane seems like such a good friend.

  • funny

  • Shawn was a friend of mine from Memphis since about 1992. During his years with a cover band called The Willys, he and I would talk between sets about books and movies (everyone else just wanted to talk guitars and guitarists with him). I was out of town during his funeral so I sadly had to miss it. RIP, friend.

  • shawns an all around badass

  • Sorry... SHAWN LANE RULES!!!

  • Chop Top and Bubba rule

  • Shawn scared of The Onions. lol

  • ;_;

    that woulda been the best album ever ;_;

  • Only if Buckethead didn't join with GnR, may be they could have done some work together...

  • idk, bucket didnt join gnr until '00 and he still did c2b3 and some solo at the same time.. you think that the album with shawn would be a priority. i wonder if they started to record but didnt finish...... i think im going to ask sean rickman about it.

  • Yeah, actually you're right. But The Big Eyeball in the Sky didn't get recorded until 2004, I think Big B had left GR by then. I don't think there were any talk about Shawn and Big B doing anything together. Shawn was quite ill last few years plus he was busy enough with Jonas Hellborg and his own solo. but I don't know... This is more of a wish if they did something together. =(

  • buckethead has always viewed shawn as his idol and hes always thought shawn a better guitarist. i thought maybe he felt intimidated by shawn and that might have something to do with it. ecspecially back in 93 when bucket was just getting started.. maybe it was just too good to be true :(

btw: bucket toured with c2b3 before 04 but thats beyond the point. and you're right, buckethead left gnr in 04

  • Shawn didn't intimidate anyone. =) (unless you were an arrogant guitarist who thought he was better than Shawn)

Did you see Shawn and Big B's show together at Wetlands? It's easy to find on youtube.

I can tell how happy Big B was by watching him bounce his guitar! lol

  • no, i dont mean that at all. i mean buckethead was intimidated because he thought shawn was so much better than him.. whatevs

  • Hehe, sorry my bad. I knew what you meant but still wrote what I wrote. =)

  • its cool :)
