CAN ANYONE TELL ME where i can hear this thing he's talking about thats like "didly didly insanity" that shaun made and buckethead tried to figure it out? i wants to hear it!!!!
i was never into shawn lane but it saddens me because i can see he is truly amazing just going from how much some of you all love his stuff! massive respect for him and maybe 1 day my tastes will shift towards his music like a fine wine! :d
Why are all Shawn lane videos fucked up looking? He is respected from world class martial art black belt guitar GODS!! His videos are fucked up low budget looking?
@MyShawnLaneVideos I dont think he even tried to get his name out there? Because i never heard of him until buckethead mentioned his name in guitar player magazine 05, and back in the 80s i listened to all the guys he taught like Paul Gilbert and a few others anyways, I should have heard about him through mike varney at least..He had all of shawns bootlegs either that or his mother still does
Fuck yeah! Buckethead does the most insane beautiful music Ive ever heard..Songs like ''I love my parents" and hills of eternity" are a drop in the bucket. He puts new albums out constantly..But it helps to know what style it is before you buy a CD because you never know what you'll get from buckethead? I really respect this dude Shawn man! Not to mention he has the most terrifying fingers a guitarist could have..This guy even scares the shredding guitarist !!
Wow this guy is amazing i unfortunately saw his name on a Buckethead video and just found out about this guy....R.I.P man
If im not mistaken Bucketheads real name is Brian Carrol, i love bucketheads music, one of the most amazing guitar players the world will ever have, I just started to listen to this guy today, hes really great
I have done some extensive, extensive reserach and I believe that Buckethead and Shawn Lane are the two fastest, greatest guitar players to ever live.
If this album ever saw the light of day I'm sure it would be some pretty insane stuff.
It seems Shawn met Buckethead as a teenager because when you listen Brazos by Buckethead, an audition tape for a guitar contest, Buckethead does some finger nubs.
I've asked Buckethead and Buckethead posted on FAQ 2.0 that he did do some recordings with Shawn Lane but they are not sure if they're going to release it in the future. Hope they do. :)
@shadowknight132 Wow that's the first i've heard of that, that's awesome news if true!!... though i'm pretty sure Shawn's old friend Mick Trammel specifically told me they never actually recorded together..... i hope he was wrong! :-)
Apparently so. If that was true, Buckethead would not have said anything about the unsure possibilities of the recordings reaching the surface. I guess Shawn Lane didn't talk much about the recording because he wanted it to be surprise. Anyways google "Buckethead FAQ 2" and search the list for Shawn Lane, question 55.
wow, so Shawn Lane basically created the monster that is Buckethead. It kind of reminds me of how Chet Atkins learned to play by mimicking what he thought was one guitar part, turned out to be composed for two guitars. Not sure what song it was, but either way, talk about an awesome misunderstanding :) Although, I feel like I have blue balls, considering I almost got to find out Buckethead's real name :P
Hi Laura.... not really, there was only another second or two after this. I just cut this video off right at the point where Shawn mentioned Buckethead's first name, and that is all there was on that subject.
Joey Vines asking Shawn about Buckethead! Seems like it was just last week... This was an awesome Clinic, but I remember walking out feeling like I'd been in math class! R.I.P. Shawn..
Not only is he the best guitar player ever, he's got a brilliant personality and a wonderful sense of humor. Seems like a lovely person to be around with.
Its one thing to be a top tier guitarist but its another thing when he seemed like such a truly good soft spoken person. A monsterous loss to the guitar world as well as the Human race....
@liketospeed888 You are right man. Shawn was coming out of a store on Summer Avenue one night and i recognized him and said hi. He came over to the car and we talked for a sec and he invited me over to his house to play sometime. Of course I never thought he would not be with us not long after.
I like the Ibanez S, but I perfer the input jack be on the side of the body, but i know they can't do that cause the body is 2 thin for that apparently.
If only they still made the 540R as a standard model .....
Basically Shawn heard what Conlon Nancarrow did with automatic Pianos, so Shawn tried doing the same on guitar, recording 1 note each at a time, then editing them together at high speed...... then Buckethead head a recording of Shawn doing that, and thought Shawn was really actually playing it.... so Buckethead wanted to play that kind of thing so started doing the crazy tapping thing.
Apparently when this interview was recorded i believe that buckethead was with cornbug's at the time because the guy who he was talking about who played the guy with the metal plate in his head in TCM II was Bill Moseley but i'm not sure :) \m/
