I was 5 when our troops pulled out of Vietnam in '73. I remember watching it on the tv news and thinking it was just another show. Both Iraq wars were very much like a reality show. Other than the Revolution, the Civil War, WW II and to an extent Korea, all wars we have been involved in (and there have been many) benefit just a few. The newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst pushed for the Spanish American war just to sell more papers. If leaders want a war why don't they fight it themselves.

i want peace as much as the next guy, but, in my opinion going to war doesn't mean we're killing innocent people or children. Most of the men on my family have been to wars from the war of 1812 to WWII to Vietnam and even I've enlisted as cavalry scout in the army (hooah) to fight in Afghanistan/middle-east for the same reason, to protect the innocent people of the world from men like the Saddam Hussein, Vietcong, or the Taliban. That's my point exactly, we had no reason to be at war with North Vietnam. They were no threat to us, and no oil is under Hanoi. Desert Storm was halted prior to a most certain win, but halted nevertheless, now we are back and being bankrupted by the adventure, Korea is a truce, that seems to qualify for a tie. To me if a war is worth fighting, it should be worth winning, and you win by using your best weapons. Either commit to victory or quit. If they are not worth nuking, forget it.

its even been publicly announced as a myth by congress in the past month.

I hate war, but sometimes it's a neccessary evil. So let's try our best to avoid every war we can, but let's also support our troops through military funding so that the men and women we DO have out there fighting can be as safe as possible and that much more likely to return home.
One of my closest friends is in the Navy, and I know several other people in the armed forces. So I'm not just pulling this out of my butt...

I was 5 when our troops pulled out of Vietnam in '73. I remember watching it on the tv news and thinking it was just another show. Both Iraq wars were very much like a reality show. Other than the Revolution, the Civil War, WW II and to an extent Korea, all wars we have been involved in (and there have been many) benefit just a few. The newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst pushed for the Spanish American war just to sell more papers. If leaders want a war why don't they fight it themselves.

Still looking at some very bad situations around the world- there is a perpetual war state between many countries ... sad, especially, same money could go helping children to be better leaders and creative adults and more importantly, clean up air, water and soil for bioshpere sustenance.
