  • The bridge is not Edge 3, is Edge Zero 2

  • they put edge zero 2 trems in these now

  • AMERICAAAAA

  • wouldnt locking stud bolts help the edge 3 stay in tune

  • i have an RG4EXQM1 whit the edge 3 tremolo and i divebomb the heck out of it and it only gets a little bit out of tune i play in drop c

  • @noobaliciouscovers your a lucky one then

mine wouldnt stay in tune atall

even when i was only palm muting

so i sold mine and got an RG321EX

    Couldnt be happier with it

  • @SinsAscendant yeah rg321ex is an awesome guitar the thing with the edge 3 tremolo is that no one knows how to set it up right everyone talks shit about the edge 3 without even understanding how to use it it is way better than any liscenced tremolos in my opinion

  • @noobaliciouscovers ive put sime seymour duncans in mine

but ive played the edge zero ii trem

and i definitly prefer it to the edge

    but thats my opinion

like i find a properly set up edge is a bit stiff and so on

but i do prefer the edge 3 to a licensed floyd

  • @SinsAscendant yeah the edge zero ii trem is really nice

  • @noobaliciouscovers there on guitars for around the same price too

  • @SinsAscendant i know but the edge 3 was ibanez main low end/mid range tremolo until they realized it wasnt that good and stopped using edge 3 tremolos on mid range models they use it on gio's and low end rg/rgd/rga's in my opinion the edge 3 trem in good i man is on the same level as the floyd rose special

  • @noobaliciouscovers i heard the edge 3 on mid end to low end models could corrode/rust

  • If i wanna drop tune, I put all the tuning pegs in the middle except for the low e string which I put all the way in the bridge. So when I need to drop, ill unscrew the low e tuner and i can still dive bomb

  • whats does djent actually mean? :s

  • @TheStevieD09 It's a new "genre" "fad"

  • @jackakaemo what does it involve?

  • @TheStevieD09 It's basically like another genre of music, search on google or wiki =)

  • @TheStevieD09 it involves awesomeness. look up Periphery or Meshuggah

  • @metallica5252 ok thanks man XD

  • or give chappers this guitar

  • you should realy use japan ibanez guitar for whammy bar war. This cheap ibanez guitars are horible...

  • the guy on the couch is scared to death to see if it will break something XD

  • He played the star sprangled banner at the start because its awesome!

  • did the hippie play star spangled banner at the start, yes he did

  • It's great how they managed to make the Edge 3 look awesome, and the ZPS on the S series look like crap.

  • Just click cc and then the first option

    Enjoy! xD

  • If you take the battery out. Could the active/passive switch be used as a kill switch?

  • @Crazymofoinamajikbox You're a genius.

  • @Crazymofoinamajikbox Yes but with these pickups, there's hardly any output and it's sound like crap if the active circuit isn't running. I do own this guitar.

  • edge 3 i think sucks ASS. maybe in my case, i got the guy that got divorced and lost custody of his children, lost his house, lost his car, found out his friend died, in max debt, favorite tv show got cancelled, raped in jail, and on the way to the ibanez factory and spilled coffee on his leg and decided to curse/FUCK up the bridge of the very guitar he was working on that day, which happen to be the guitar in my hands. so maybe there is a good edge 3's out there and i happen to get the bad one.

  • @datblkkidjason i actually have a pretty

    good one :D

  • @sharingan56789 thats my damn luck XD!! i got mine to work decent now after all this time.

  • @datblkkidjason the irony with the edge 3 i have is its actually too good. i cant tune to anything other than standard because it pulls the notes sharp every time. its awesome for some stuff but i wish i could tune to drop d

  • @TheCollisionofworlds i had that problem before. i think what u wanna do is unlock ur locking nut then tune ur guitar to whatever tuning u want. once ur at ur desired tuning. dump the bar. tune it again, dump, tune and so on. thats how i fixed that problem. maybe it'll work for u? (make sure u know that "string = spring" tension shit to get ur bridge at the right level.)

  • do you think it would be possible to swap that bridge for a floyd rose?

  • jajajaja 2:15 kind of wheeeeee......kind of wheeeeee xD!!!!!

  • Rob always uses high gain tones for everything theres other kinds of music!

  • @GuitarGuys337 not for these kind of guitars. It's a rock, metal, shredding etc guitar. I think the sound used is appropriate.

  • you can't try tremolo on the new guitar.. play the guitar for month or two and then try the tremolo... first.. strings can do it.. if you have new strings they can get out of tune really quickly... second.. bad setup.. i have this guitar for half a year... never gets out of tune because of tremolo... ( normally by temperature in my room :D ) so don't believe this.. sorry my english

  • james hetfield doesnt need a trem, he doesnt play country primarily

  • @FifatlasHD James Hetfield plays rhythm.

  • @jhiggins95 ok so im right

  • dont listent to this guy, never block off your trem!!!

  • @darkedd92 Shut up. Just shhhh

  • cant you can counteract the country bend -trem giveaway by slightly resting your wrist on the trem?

  • @dmohr7 Get a trem setter.

  • guitarists who hates the edge iii might have some problems with their set-up..i think every floating/locking trem system functions best with perfect set-up....

  • @tabotabojayar No the Edge 3 is a shit rem. Last 6 months then you basically have to hard tail it to stay in tune

  • isnt the Edge III like the most hated trem and this guy saying it amazing?

  • Why did they ever stop using the Edge pro :/

  • ESP RULZ! ;)

  • yeah my cheaper licensed jt580 floyd is better...stays in tune for days.

  • I had a RG and I just couldn't get along with the trem. Stop-tails ftw <3

  • @merockzyourass4321 tnx bro

  • mst of da gys who own this guitar says tht this hs mr prbs in tuning.r ths true

    nd wt wld u sy

    plzzzzzzzzz hlp

  • @joeldification I could hardly read what you wrote...

  • @joeldification dude wtf are u even saying?????

  • watch 1:09 dat guy is laughing rofl!

  • KIND OF WEEEEE KIND OF WEEEE AHAHA XD

  • so... Edge III is better than the ZR trem?

  • @BlackWidow8492 nah, ZR wins

  • @BlackWidow8492 DO NOT BUY EDGE III IT IS SO SHIT AND YOU WILL REGRET IT! what ill give to have bought a zr equipped guitar instead of edge III. But that was a year ago now I have upgraded to ibanez prestige with a edge pro which in my opinion is the best floyd style bridge by far.

  • if there's any reason to not buy a trem, it would have to be dual bends... the more i've learned to do that, the more i dislike the trem on my RG cause it always gives. i'm thinking about getting the updated version of the guitar in this video... it's got EMGs and an Edge Zero II. the latter tremolo has subsprings that kinda compensate for when the trem gives when you dual-bend. best idea ever... i just hope it works.

  • now give him a jem7vwh or an rg770dx to work with. that original edge never goes out of tune

  • 2:18 aahahahahah

  • click 2:20 for instant replay rearrrrrr

  • my Edge Pro II sucks :( What do you think about swapping Gotoh into my Ibanez?

  • @mazingguitar or you can get an edge pro which is EXTREMELY good unlike the edge pro II. i think its about as much as a gotoh. and the radius will match the neck unlike a gotoh. and the edge pro is a better trem so i guess its a win-win-win situation

  • @deathcore1239

but where I will get Edge Pro? And how much is it?

  • @mazingguitar ibanezrules(.)com of course :) the owner, rich harris is the GREATEST guy ever to work with. and for cosmo black, its $270 and chrome is $265. and i looked at the gotoh floyd price and its about $100 cheaper but the radius is so off that youll have to refret the guitar and sand the fretboard to the right radius for the trem and your still not getting the better trem. more money for better or less money for worse with work needed. and edge pro has locking studs i believe

  • I had a RG5 with the Edge III trem... It was great, and stayed in tune. But when I got it for the first time, factory set-up, I found that the string saddle was loose and everytime i raised the pitch with the trem, the G string would detune really bad, so I tightened the screws holding the saddles down. Doing that set it up just perfectly.

  • i love my ibanez little iffy about the edge lll but i love it im waiting on my peavy 6505+ 112 killer amp (for the haters its good for ppl who know what the hell there doing with it )lol

  • Hey Rob.

I bought an edge III system today.

But it keeps getting out of tune even when I just do one pull up or drop.

I haven't done anything to the setup at all.

Know some frequent problems they make in the factory?

  • @liamzuid make sure your trem is set up by ibanez if you look at the base plate it should be pointed up a little its not the same set up as the floyd rose. Make sure you have good strings and you will love it.

  • Comment removed

  • now you can only imagine how good the edge pro is. and it is! the problem is that the guitar i tried it on cost 2000 euros in the shop

  • im thinking of buying this guitar, ive been playing for 1,5 years or so. And i can play rather well. Ive got an epiphone wich im kind of sick of and im wondering if any1 whos got 1 or something think its a good guitar, the RGA72TQM,

  • Nice Guitar

  • @ RobChappers

Totally should have tested the Axcess out a bit. Still haven't seen anyone REALLY push the Floyd.

  • i have this guitar but it doesnt sound like this is for the amp or pedal?

  • you know the Edge III trem will stay in tune perfectly if you do something to them. you can set them up perfectly and it may still not stay in tune, that is, until you put chapstick or nut sauce or graphite on the knife posts.

i had just about given up on my Edge III when i had the knife edges sharpened and switched strings and all this stuff and it STILL wouldn't stay in tune, until recently i thought i'd just try a last resort and put chapstick on the knife posts and OH MY GOD it works great

  • My friend has an RG not ure which RG but that goes out of tune alot and apparently he had it set up...although he may have been con-ed but it really doesn't stay in tune all that well

  • @DeathMagneticX3 tell him to put chapstick on the knife posts of the guitar. even when the knife edges are sharp, for some reason with the Edge III, it just needs lube on the knife posts. i didn't think it would make a difference but boy was I wrong. it needs it, and it works absolutely perfectly with it.

  • @AirgunAddict256 Thanks for that. I'll tell him next time I see him :) Thanks!

  • @hgv33

I have an Ibanez right now, and love the living crap out of it. And I have had epiphones and they are heavier and not as 'speedy' as an Ibanez neck.

The only reason I am possibly even thinking about picking up this Pro FX is because the single coil pullpot.

  • this guiar or the epiphone? any body? i would appreciate advice on which one's better.

    thnks

  • @hgv33 for metal this guitar is better any day, and even though the floyd didn't stay in tune for this video, read my other two comments to know what to do with the Edge III trem on this guitar and you won't have tuning problems.

plus, the neck and fretjob will be much better on this guitar. and of course so is the fret access. but if you are used to the traditional Les Paul feel (cause it's exactly like a Les Paul but with a Floyd) and sound, get that.

it's all up to you which is better.

  • all ibanez trems are garbage. i remember when ibanez guitars with double locking trems had licensed floyd rose trems. rare to see those nowadays

  • i've heard that the action fucks up if you downtune. any comments on that?

  • @amithabajan2 Does that on any guitar if you don't compensate the intonation.

  • @amithabajan2 if you downtune, and you have the trem floating, yes the action will screw up unless you either block off the back of the tremolo with some wood or a Tremol-no (which makes the bridge a divebomb-only tool; no up-pulls) or you adjust the spring action every time you want to downtune.

but there is a new tool out called the Tremol-no which means you can temporarily block the trem by turning some screws, allowing you to drop tune with no problem, but your bridge becomes a hardtail.

  • if you use a floyd or tremolo you can use an a tremolo stabilizer for the string compensation

  • I dont like floyd rose tremelos at all i rather use a whammy bar pedal alot easy and better control and better yet no problem with my strings outta tune or to change them

  • just to let you know. the edge 3 tremolo is really bad :( i learnt the hard way! it lasted less then a year and never stays in tune now! if you want to be using a floyd every day of the week and have it last check out the zr tremolo with a zp system. it's what i'm getting nect because my edge 3 lasted half a year and i only used 5 mins a week! and the flutters sound shit on edge three AND THE FUCKING WAMMY BAR CAN ONLY BE TIGHTENED FROM INSIDE THE BRIDGE WITH AN ALLAN KEY ibanez's worst bridge

  • @profanious I would to put a ZR-II on my ibanez because they stay in tune better than the ZR.

  • this pickups or emgs? i dont know if i should buy this guitar or the esp ltd mh-1000fr plss help me :)

  • i have a question... this one or the esp ltd mh-1000FR?

  • this guitar is so sexy

  • How is it a good guitar?! its an Ibanez!

  • @haropro2 i don't see what's WRONG with Ibanez. their hardware (more specifically the Edge III trem) may not be the best, but they have their own unique feel that you can't find on other guitars, and IMHO, their own unique sound. if you don't like Ibanez, that's fine, but i don't see why you could call them BAD guitars.

my ONLY gripe about Ibanez is the fact that they use the Edge III tremolo for most of their guitars now except for the Prestige models, and the Edge III is NO Floyd Rose.

  • @haropro2 ibanez are class if you try them

  • what does djent mean??

  • what is the pedal being ran on top of the mesa head?

  • Cool unique inlays. We definitely need more of that.

  • That Ibanez is the tits!

  • Very cool series of videos

nice chappers but tell me what do you think about the Schaller Floyd Rose tremolo systems ?

  • @U2006gmx schaller is one of the producers of the ORIGINAL Floyd Rose (read this carefully) but they produce their own trem on Floyd patents too. so if theyre making the original floyd for Floyd Rose, i think their own floyd should be just as good (they put it on high end guitars).

  • @Olpaj what kind of guitars do they put Schaller trems on, nowadays? i never see them on anything with a big brand name in America. they look like great trems but nobody uses them in the U.S. anymore. of course i've heard rumors that the Schaller licensed tremolos aren't made quite like they used to be. is this true?

  • @U2006gmx the Schaller Floyd Rose is a great looking tremolo, although i can't say i've used it, sadly. i kinda hope to put it on my RG someday to replace my Edge III, just so i can say i did, lol.

it's a lot like the Floyd, and it's made in the same factory as the original Floyd, but it's made out of die-cast metal instead of hardened steel. the one exception to this is that the knife edges are inserts of hardened steel. also, the screws for the saddles are shortened to look less fugly.

  • makes me so proud to have an edge 3!!

  • it's rare to see chappers with an Ibanez

  • TREMOL-NO works!

  • GREAT looking guitar. i have an RG370DX with [aftermarket] EMGs and the same tremolo. the knife edges are dull on mine so it won't tune (getting them sharpened this week sometime) well, but when the trem was working at peak, i couldn't get it to go out of tune. the problem is that the Edge III is made of really cheap metals that are not hardened, so the knife edges can easily dull. and frankly the Edge III is just cheap. it's the lowest of the low end. but it does work if you take care of it.

  • @AirgunAddict256 How do the EMGs sound in the RG. out of 10. Good sound?

  • @TheOmerta94 1 is being the worst sound i've ever heard. 10 is the best sound that i've ever physically played out of a guitar.

in this case, the Ibanez would rank a 9 because i have played one guitar that kinda sounded bette, the Schecter V-1 Hellraiser. it has a mahogany body instead of the basswood on my RG, and the mahogany compliments the pickups a bit more, so the schecter wins on sound, JUST barely.

but as for being the perfect guitar for me, the Ibanez gets a 10 overall.

  • @TheOmerta94 nice one. \../

  • This guitar sounds really amazing, didn´t passed on the whammy part though.

    Anyway great Ibanez.

    Robin :o)

  • Fuck not sure do i want one on my Ml2 now ahhhhhh!

  • So RGA72 is back on my wish list again :) but i heard the edge 3 can be replaced by the OFL PRO , so that will be a nice upgrade, but damn, AA batteries for active pickups, swaping some actives wil be a pain now

  • I played a non trem version of that guitar and fell in love... At least i think it was non trem.. Who really cares, it was a fun guitar.

  • 5 Stars

  • Here's the thing about Ibanez (or any other company for that matter) they have great guitars that would make anybody want one. And they have terrible guitars that will make you shoot yourself in the foot.

  • beautiful guitar

  • It's sad but this is the truth about cheap Ibanez trems.

  • @slavoy11 so true :/

  • Rob have you try the Ibanez Edge-Zero trem?

  • i think you should tune it first, use the whammy so its out of tune, then tune it again and it will stay in tune. at least my ibanez s series does.

  • @WouterGuitarFreak the point of a locking nut is hat it stays in tune for the whole time. To have to retune eliminates the point of the entire system.

  • @Joeseffel my ibanez s370 has stayed in tune for a month (while being played every day) after doing the tune thing. i didn't mean you have to tune, detune and tune again, it's just that the guitar needs to be in tune before using the trem.

  • @WouterGuitarFreak ah i see, my mistake then. As luck would have it i tried out an S series yesterday and to be honest i don't think it was ever in tune to begin with, had probably been on the shop wall for months but i was pretty impressed with the quality etc. of the guitar considering it's not ridiculous money for what you're getting.

  • Lee is awesome

  • for the fans: there's a hardtail version of this exact guitar too ;-)

  • it's a good day when one Chappers video turns up in my subs box, but six! that's a great day!

  • "Some dudes use just one tuning and only play djent"

    XP

  • lol I like how the highly hated Edge III did better than the highly loved ZR trem ;-)

  • @MyxHarnett Didn't expect that either :)

  • @MyxHarnett I love my Edge III

  • @Sloomer25 i hate my edge III

  • @MyxHarnett A nicely fitted trem will always outshine a poorly placed one.

I could mount an original Floyd on my guitar, and have an identical guitar mounted with a "Rythm in Jump Dancing Close To You" brand locking trem (cheap Chinese crap) by a luthier, the cheap crap will stay in tune better due to it being fitted with more care.

Any Ibanez under a Prestige will have varying quality on the fitting, and this one is good while the S770 of the previous vid may be a lemon.

  • @MyxHarnett

is the ZR II better then? ( i like the edge III tho :D has a certain accent to it)

  • @TommittajaFIN Usually the ZR trems are considered higher quality, although I don't see why everyone hates the IIIs, I've had mine for almost 2 years and it still works fine...

  • @MyxHarnett

    ah, cool...

you see i'm getting the RG870, since it has ZR II :P

also, in europe, it's quilt-top and has a hard case ;)

  • What's up with that reverb tail?

  • D-TUNA!!!! c'mon guys

  • has that random face been there the whole time

  • I think it's worth mentioning that a lot of Floyd players do the unison bend thing by actually bending the "static" note a little as well. Initially difficult to do, but eventually it becomes second nature.

  • Damn Ibanez get it together

  • @TMF58 The zr trem is fine. Something is wrong with the guitar in the last vid. The edge 3 sucks though

  • there is always a Tremol-no if you do not fancy doing woodwork...

  • Ehh...Rob, you could use a D-Tuna. Like on my evh.

Got one on my Evh and it's perfect.

  • i put a block on both sides after watching that video on hard-tailing, it doesnt move at all now and i can keep the locking nuts off, best decision i evr made, as now i can drop tune whenever i want- THANKYOU CHAPPERS!

  • @MrCwillies Take a look at the RGA... RG win + mahogany body + slight archtop + fixed bridge!

I have one and they're fantastic!

  • Hey I remember that Hard Tailing thing from your "How to Hard-Tail a Guitar" -.-'....Hahaha Great vid (both this one and the Hard-Tail one ^^), huge fan greetings from Costa Rica \m/!!!

  • I think the switch is a mid scooper, not an active/passive switch.

    Great vid, though.

  • @MunterE No it's actually the passive/active switch. My friend has this exact same guitar.

  • Edge III arent good for heavy use. The Older edges were amazing!

NIce videos though. I enjoyed this!

  • Hahaha, probably took several takes to say that entire model name correctly huh?

  • @RobChappers I've been looking at a Trem King Tremolo as a replacement for a strat. Do you know anything about them?

  • as spoon as i get strings for my baja strat im gonna block it off ive seen the vid countless times and ill do it

  • wonderful to see some whammy win :)

  • first veiw FTW!!!
