I lost my old endurance horse Sal when she was 34, and used to ride her very lightly just for twenty minutes or so just so she felt wanted. I had another mare who died when she was 35. They leave a huge gap in our lives and each one is special. She'll always live in your hearts!

I had my horse untill he was 36 and yes I rode him untill his last year. Sorry for your loss sweetie. I have lost a few over the years. It's nice to see there are others that keep their horses when they get older. :) sending hugs.
I am so sorry for your loss. We have a 30yo mare, Dolly. She's a Hanoverian/Thoroughbred Cross, and she still will knock you off the fence, push you down, kick other horses, and gallop out to the pasture, beating my 5yo ottb mare!

i am sick of the comments people are giving you! i lernt to ride on a 36 yr old pony and the only reason i dont ride him is coz im to big now, being riden is the only thing keeping him alive the vet said it keeps him healthy and strong as long as it is light and regular work. i have absalutly no probs that u rode that horse. im terably sorry about your loss and you should be proud she lived that long :) she looks like the pony i was talking about, he is still at the place i work :)
Saying that you cant ride a horse when it gets old is like saying your parents cant do anything when they get old.... yeah they have a few knocks and bumps or problems... but you wouldnt euthanise your mum at the age of 32, so why should an older horse be treated the same?
from the looks of it the horse didnt show any lameness or not willing to be ridden... for me kelly seemed very happy where she was and loved it, she gorgeous and i bet she enjoyed her life

horses act so different to their ages so all you people saying 'isnt she a bit old' need to shut up coz its a bit harsh saying that to someone who clearly loved their horse to bits!! i rode a 24 year old horse back along that i got over 3ft hes only 14.2 and he flew over it! but i wouldnt go any higher coz i thought it was a bit much for him! but i also have a 20 year old pony thats 13hh and she is FULL of energy, it just goes to show that their age shouldnt always hold them back!! <3 x

Just putting it out there for the people who don't know - if a 30+ year old horse is sound and healthy, there's no reason why it can't carry a rider. Keeping them in shape even as they get older will likely help keep them alive and healthy longer.

She was BEAUTIFUL! Did she have arabian in her? And for everybody else, it is not unhealthy to ride a horse if they are old, if they are fit enough to be ridden. It's like saying if you are old, you cannot go on a run. :DD

I'm so sorry you lost her, it must have broken your heart. Good for you riding her and keeping her active, that is what helped her have a nice long life.
Really sweet pony <3 i know how you must have felt, i lost a pony at 34 <3 RIP Timmy <3 please can everyone stop saying that its not right to ride a horse that age! because if the horse is fit and healthy and wants to work, its fine and probably the best thing to do. we tried to retire Timmy but after a week he was terrible and crazy (to put it politely) so i got on him and walked him around to try and calm him down and the next day he was PERFECT. I love the fire in her, it really adds to character :) she just wanted to go, no hanging around there :) I would have loved to have a horse like her, I bet it was always a laugh, tho yea maybe a little annoying at times, you'd have to be ready for when she launched :)

if they're healthy enough, there is no reason why you can't still be riding your horse at 30, we have a pony on riding school and she's 38. albeit, she only does half an hour a day, but it keeps her joints loose and it keeps her fit. so you cant just make assumtions on somebody else's horse. and anyway its her choice, its her horse:L

um ive seen horse older than this running barrels... age is nothing depends on how they are physically the horse i saw was 32 and its in better shape than my 20 yr old hes not in shape at all and wouldnt last tryin to do barrels

@misspogo99 one of my horses is 35 and i still ride him..i think it all depends on what kind of shape theyre in..my horse still walks trots canters gallops and bucks with me on him..we once put him out to pasture when he was in his 20s and he hated it so much..he enjoys being ridden--he likes to hav a purpose
@cowgurrlup the oldest horse ive riden was when i started riding then after i had riden for 3 years i got back on him i could not even keep him on the rail!he is now 32
@misspogo99 TBH.. Even if she was riding her.. The horse enjoyed it and was under no pain atttall... IF they ddi not have a bad back poor legs then why are they not aloud to carry on? they can still be young in there nature.
@misspogo99 The longer you keep them going.. Just doing little things like hacking.. The healthier they stay, because their joints don't seize up and their muscle tone doesn't waste away :)

@misspogo99 If a horse is fit and healthy, which has been explained that yes this pretty little pony IS, then they can be ridden lightly (or peace of mind), I know of two horse who, one was retired at 30 while the other who is now 31 is still being quietly hacked around farm land by young children learning to ride. She doesn't put a hoof wrong. RIP, I'm certain she lived a long great life =) xx

Hey i have a 38 year old pal. And she is called goldy the only thing that she has wrong with her is that she has spasemps in her hok wich can be warmed up once you have rode her for a bit and she rears bucks ans bots so on your friends video, i dont see the point in haters for that it's a thing that they do haha AND I NEVER TRAINED goldy to rear she just does it hhaa just to let you know ha :)

um ive seen horse older than this running barrels... age is nothing depends on how they are physically the horse i saw was 32 and its in better shape than my 20 yr old hes not in shape at all and wouldnt last tryin to do barrels

@misspogo99 you can ride a horse at any age depending on their health. I have a friend who has a 32 year old horse running 1D barrels and winning.

@misspogo99 one of my horses is 35 and i still ride him..i think it all depends on what kind of shape theyre in..my horse still walks trots canters gallops and bucks with me on him..we once put him out to pasture when he was in his 20s and he hated it so much..he enjoys being ridden--he likes to hav a purpose

@misspogo99 TBH.. Even if she was riding her.. The horse enjoyed it and was under no pain atttall... IF they ddi not have a bad back poor legs then why are they not aloud to carry on? they can still be young in there nature.

@misspogo99 The longer you keep them going.. Just doing little things like hacking.. The healthier they stay, because their joints don't seize up and their muscle tone doesn't waste away :)

@misspogo99 At the place where I ride, there is a 36 year old pony, and we still use him in lessons! As long as the horse is able to handle to excersize, it CAN be ridden, thank you!

@misspogo99 If a horse is fit and healthy, which has been explained that yes this pretty little pony IS, then they can be ridden lightly (or peace of mind), I know of two horse who, one was retired at 30 while the other who is now 31 is still being quietly hacked around farm land by young children learning to ride. She doesn't put a hoof wrong. RIP, I'm certain she lived a long great life =) xx

I had an old circus pony I rescued when he was 31. He was a flea bitten grey, tough as nails. He never put on weight, ripped up two rugs and refused any cover even in the English winter, would go crazy with excitement if I took him out for a spin. I had to be careful urging him on as his dear old mind would get confused and he's start going into a bow or something. He dropped dead suddenly at the very ripe age of 39 after a splendid retirement. Your pony reminded me of him. I thank you!.

bet u miss her and she would miss you but i also think u must love her so much and should beacuse she was wonderful x i give you my love because i'm sure that is was a huge loss x but i am also under the impression that she had a really great life with you for she looks so happy in the filme x and now she is buried with all the other treasures of this world who are no longer with us x My gorgeous mare losty a foal, yes it was her first but too see her so upset hurts me x

Hey i have a 38 year old pal. And she is called goldy the only thing that she has wrong with her is that she has spasemps in her hok wich can be warmed up once you have rode her for a bit and she rears bucks ans bots so on your friends video, i dont see the point in haters for that it's a thing that they do haha AND I NEVER TRAINED goldy to rear she just does it hhaa just to let you know ha :)
