The final shot needed "Ride of the Valkyries" over it with fadeout on Peter looking wistfully into the distance - "I love the smell of hobbits' feet in the morning...." Epic stuff. #;o)
This is ultimately what George Lucas failed at doing. Shooting on real locations on real sets makes the movie 10 times more real than any CGI could. Even if CGI looks real you have to understand that actors have to react to the environment around them. This is why everyone was so lifeless in the Star Wars Prequels.
It's the opposite. del Toro was going to direct until MGM postponed it to recover from bankruptcy, so while del Toro is still credited for co-writing the screenplay, Peter Jackson filled in for him as director.
I couldnt be more exited to see this happening! this all looks so familiar its like i'm twelve years old again, watching the behind the scenes of lotr :D
I hope one of the next blogs is about the visual effects of the movies.
