Cameron I jnow what a 223 does, but it has sever drawbacks and the 308/7.62 is a much better sound for hunting and combat. As for the shotgun 00 buck is fine, its just that I use a 3 1/2 inch mag shell and like the bigger shot for knockdown power. Its more effective @ 50 to a 100 yards

Dont waste time with .223 cal. Little bullet, little results. Same with pistols. Revolver .445 super mag. with magna port 7 1/2 inch barrel or 10 1/2 inch. Use fmj 250 gr. bullets. Revolvers are easy to use clean and take apart and where it takes 4 9mm to do the job the .445 does it in 1 shot. Ruger Super Redhawk is my choice in the .445 super mag.

I prefer the Fn fal 7.62 or 308 for less than 600 yards. Beyond that I prefer a 378 necked down to a 30 cal and can use 150 gr to 200 gr. bullets and is good to 1500 yards. You can take bullets from mil ammo and use to reload with. The black tips go thru 1 inch steel at 400 yards, 5/8 plate @ 700 yrds.

Peeps asking about a good shotgun, The Mossberg 535 is really the best all around choice with a 22 inch barrell and no choke. Reloads fastest and easiest and yes better than the Rem. It will shoot 2 3/4, 3inch mag and 3 1/2 mag shells. Use 000 buck, slugs or load your own and use .38 cal balls for black powder rifle. This is for the 3 1/2 mag shells. Good hunting. ;-)

Not bad. The SKS has one thing over the AK series is that it tends to be a little more accurate at longer ranges and has a little more punch. The AK tends to lose a little because of the gas action and the way the bolt is moved back by the cycling. Not a world of difference but, somewhat noticable out at around 300 meters.

The AK is not as bad in accuracy as many think. I can hit center mass on a man sized target at 100 yards out of the box.

@CrystalHunter1989 Out to about 300 meters, the AK is accurate enough. Also, most infantry combat takes place at less than 200 meters anyway so, for what it was made to do, it excells. Out past 400 meters though, the AR-15 is more accurate but, still, it doesn't seem to have quite the same punch up close. It really depends on what you expect to do with the rifle that determines which is the best. As a side note, AK and ammo are currently cheaper than AR and ammo in most places.

No one would deny that a shotgun with 00 buck shot is the ideal for up to about 20 meters but, when taking out a threat a little further, a different tool is needed. teh AR system was/is a good concept but, I think that at this point, it's been reconfigured to the point that a replacement is needed. It's a great rifle but, it's not the ideal tool for what it's having to do these days.

It's not illegal for gun sellers in the US to sell them, unless they don't have the ATF Class 3 FFL. If they don't have that, then it would be a felony. Also, it's only illegal to posess those kinds of weapons IF you DON'T have a Class 3 FFL or that stamp or whatever says you can legally own it. Otherwise, full auto is illegal for civilian use since 1934. The Mexican drug cartels have lots of money. Money is often times above the law. The Ak-47 would be my first choice, but i can't find shit for ammo as far a 7.62x39, all of the surplus ammo has dried up. I going to find a Ak-74 which takes a 5.45x39, that round you can still find pretty easy i think. The Ar 15 is good, the 223 is out there but again you are going to have trouble finding surplus ammo, but they can't take the abuse an Ak can take.

My AK(AMD 65) came new, from a national chain sporting goods store, with a Hungarian military full auto bolt carrier(if you don't know what that means, look into it), and I have never heard anything about this. My WASR 10 I had for about two years had well over 10,000 rounds through it with no issues, with proper maintenance.

I'm freaking out, I've been wanting to buy a semi-auto rifle for a while now. So I figure now is as good as any right, better now while I can. Problem is I don't have the money for it. I'd like an AR-15 in 5.56x45mm or 7.62x51mm, the 5.56x45mm is cheaper. I'd also like it to get the AR with a short stroke piston induced, they run cleaner. All I got right now is my 30-30 lever gun.
