  • Zentera is probably the best sounding digital combo amp.. Besides AxeFX preamp..

  • I dont think it is possible to tell anything about the sound of these amps , because we are hearing them from a COMPUTER!, and the sound was reproduced from a digital CAMERA , cmon you cant sit there and seriously give an opinion , without being in front of them , and that is the final word

  • @dajbes58: you are right. simple as that. ^^

  • What pedal do you use to switch from "amp to amp"? And can you you run both amps at the same time?

  • It's a Lehle dual. One guitar can be connected to two amps and any of them or both can get the signal.

  • Thanks man!

  • They both sound great. Who cares how the sound is made if the sound sounds good?

  • The Zentera isn't class A, it's not a tube amp at all. It just simulates the sound. For the price tag i think it's actually quite ridiculous, the mesa is way better.

  • Without writing a 20 page review.. The Boogie is a far better Pro amp although you can't tell in that environment..

  • yeah if you're after 1 tone... the ZT has dozens of world class tones and is just as pro as the mesa... just much more flexible.

  • Zentera is like THE Digital MOdelling amp, i run a Hughes & kettner Trilogy and a Zentera at the same time sounds amazing!!!

  • i dunno the boogie seems to flow a bit better if that sounds right

  • The Boogie is better, You can hear the harmonic overtones, the Zenterra does a pretty great job but it just does not have the cut and or as big balls, The lone star is such a great amp, so any amp that that can hold its own beside one must be pretty good I gotta say.

  • Guys...your hands are only the end link in the chain. If the rest of your gear is 'yuk' your hands won't have much fun (nor your ears)

  • They sound almost identical

  • ahhh yes.....das is goood

  • True tone DOES come from the hands. Listen to SRV, compare his solos to a solo from one of, say, Trivium's or As I Lay Dying's guitarists. I'm sure they spent shitloads on equipment. I bet Stevie spent 2000 USD on everything he needs to play. I play through a 10 watt Johnson (piece of shit amp) and make it sound wonderful

  • True tone lies in the hands

  • not fully true, no matter how good you are if you playing through a cheap 100 dollar amp you will sound crap.

  • I'd say amps are more differ from eachother than peoples hands from eachother.. it's brains which are controlling our hands..

  • I'd personally go with the Boogie. My preference would be the thicker tone. Hats off to both amps, they're very good.

  • you are rewieving $10000 of gear and using a crap video camera. Please stay in your bedroom, cuddle your zentera, maybe have a threesome with an additional flextone or something but do not ever, never ever suggest anything digital instead of a good quality tube amp. It is mathematics mate, frequencies, bandwith, headroom, harmonics etc. it's like cd vs. record

  • BATHUMAN - yes a warmed up tube amp is the best sound but to say digital amps have lil use is silly, there used alot in the studio, home and live application! I love how some people yapp about expensive tube amps and then stick a shitty $50 pedal in front of it 4 tone, HA HA HA how dumb! Digital amps/analaog (good 1's) are very good and usefull. People just want to bitch/moan, at least he made a damn video for all 2 see + judge, what did others do? - Besides most tone is in 'the hands' not amp.

  • Not true. Listen to a Blue Tone PRO 30M. Read the HC reviews. No valves. Click on my nick

  • sag mal, bist du zufällig musikalienhändler o.ä.??

du wirst dir diese amps wohl nicht einfach so zum vergleichen gekauft haben, oder?!

    gruß :-)

  • der mesa boogie hat zu wenig distortion......

  • Either way they are both great amps!!!

  • To be honest, it is VERY hard to tell the difference. The Boogie is a bit "fatter" sounding but the H&K does a damn good job. I tell you if you compared the Kettner to a Line 6, it would blow the Line 6 away. I would like to hear a comparison of distortion sounds. I don't know though, the zen is a damn nice sounding amp for a lot less money.

  • Acually the H&K is a lot more expensive than the mesa. On another note, I thought the mesa sounded warmer and more full, However Im sure the H&K is much more versatile. I like the mesa but its a matter of personal preference.

  • Really? I think the Mesa Boogie blows the H&K away. I mean, listen to how the tone just fattens up with the MB. Once again personal prefernce. But for country or blues/jazz the mB is the way to go. PS, wouldn't you think with the rack of guitars and the expensive amps, this guy would play a little better? Haha... Just kidding.... but seriously

  • ich bilde mir ein der mesa hat zu wenig gain im gegensatz zum zentera...

  • Guter Vergleich - gute Einstellung gefunden. Den Soundunterschied schiebe ich hauptsächlich auf Lautsprecher und Gehäuse. Man hätte für beide Amps den gleichen Lautsprecher verwenden sollen - das wäre mal interessant.

  • You can't tell the Lonestar wins because it's a matter of taste and to me the Zentera is more my sound.

  • Being a Mesa owner, my opinion is biased. But no digital amp is going to compare to tubes. I think the Lonestar wins this one. Its like trying to put a ball into a square hole. It doesn't work. Nice playing though.

  • slash plays a marshall

  • we cant really tell i think the one on the left sounds better but thats through a video, which one do you like ArminSZ?

  • Got enough guitars?

  • First I would like to say that this is rec with a sony dig camera, with a mic the size of a pin tip. There is no way to get an acc demo of either amp with a pos point and shoot camera. Every SINGLE video on utube that demo amps guitars, or pedals is a waste of time if it is not recorded properly. Any butt hole can take out his cheap ass camera and record his lame playing these days, then the masses make all these lame assumptions on quality based on a 4 minute clip off a cheap ass camera...

  • They are both equally recorded poorly, so the comparison is at least fair, they both would sound better with a pro recording, but I can tell you I can hear if I like one or the other anyway, I m glad he posted and assuming we are all stupid in in its self is stupid sir.

  • I think the h and k sounds better.....!

  • good one now compare those to a real tube amp like 18watt or tweed deluxe. or better yet a fender champ.

  • agreed, a champ amp or an old princeton reverb would blow both the Meas and the H&K out of the water.

  • You should check out the H&K Trilogy. its awsome, very versitile too

  • And one more thing, in my experience, Ive noticed that solid state amps don't sound good with single coil pickups, but it might be just my amps. Ive gotten the best sounds using a expensive dongle preamp and amplitube 2 (I'm not a good player, but I'm a sound technician for bands and I do all the mixing and matching).

  • And Best way to compare is to play at full blast volumes (where the tubes really shine)and then you will clearly hear the difference between tube and solid state. Also, if your a shredder or heavy metal player, you don't need a tube amp. Solid state (randall) is good for metal.

  • I've been a solid state owner and an all tube amp owner for the longest time. Heres the conclusion: A top end SS amp will sound as good or better than a cheap all tube amp (crappy parts). However, a top end tube amp will sound better than any SS, and the dynamics are better. People who say there is no difference haven't owned either long enough to compare. distortion and aritificial distortion.

  • Zentera sounds no different if not better! i have a zentera & a line 6 vetta 2 both are great and sound just as good as tube amps. i hate all this bullshit about tube is better. It isnt! there are so many plus sides to digital modeling & so many negatives to tube. the mesa has 1 sound the zentera has so many and is much more versitle. there is not any tone difference get over it!!! lol.

  • The original Mesa Boogie is $800 cheaper than the Zentura.. I'll take the Boogie please and with the change ill get half of a PRS. Is the Zentura lighter? Maybe that will make up for the cost difference. :) I have been wanting to see a comparison of a modeler to the original. Thanks for the demo. Killer amp but not worth the price.

  • oyu should have done amps both on clean

  • Lol "SVITCHBOOX"

  • Yea hes from another country, the USA isnt the whole world dipshit.

  • they sound very very very similar! sometimes the mesa seem to sound louder because the tube have more dynamic, its made by high voltage and the current is more constant in the valves ...more in a class A. they imitate a class A very well but it punch a little less and give more saturation. you are so lucky! because you have the possibility to use both high quality technologies.

  • all this mellarchy about tube amps is rubbish, yes digital modelling sucks but solid state is just as good. i feel that the mesa has abit more punch (hence all valve signal path) though i would not say it as better than the centera, just depends what your looking for. i can think of applications where the centera would be better.

  • Im sorry, but there is absolutely no comparison once you have played tube and solid state- no solid state can match the dynamic responce of tubes effectively. But try solid state with a valve preamp- it gives great valve tone but you also have the reliablility and control of a solid state amp.

  • well , H&K is digital amp , it has nice sound , but can't be compared to tube amps :p tubes blow the out of your amp :p

  • good vid, both amps sound good but i got to go with the mesa, much more natural and warm tone, but got to admit the ketner sound prtty darn good also.very much enjoyed the presentation.

  • hey the red cabel is b and goes to the boogie

  • guys guys please do not ever ever ever compare digital modelling to the real thing whether it is mesa or even the chepast fender. maybe you can't tell from a digital camera recording, it is like Mariah compared to Britney. A mesa or a fender, orange, vox, marshall is for life!

  • Both sound very good, though the Mesa is a touch warmer and more organic. Considering the H&K is almost double the price though, the Mesa is definitely better.

  • A is going to the Zentera and B to the Mesa - as mentiioned in the Video. The small cable going to the Zentera (most left one) is the power for the Switcher.

  • Look closer. A is going to the Mesa and B is going to the other amp.

  • Umm...I suggest you take a close look. The B wire loops around the A before goin to the Mesa.

  • Yeah the LoneStar Special blows that thing away. Just shows that Modelers can't touch the Real thing. Kind of funny too considering the Mesa is 1700 USD and the H&K is 3400.

  • definetely my vote for the Lonestar. It sounds amazing.

    Nice comparasion.

It would be great to ear the mesa witj a little more gain

  • Nice comparison.

Give me the LoneStar. It sounds really great.

  • dam they sounded almost exactly the same both amps rock
