why do they call it "online scanner" when you have to download a .exe file? I am watching youtube ONLINE. if I downloaded your video, I would NOT be watching it online, so how does Trend Micro call it an "Online virus scan, when it does the same as Norton, AVG etc, to the same degree, maybe a better scan, but its still a download-_-
@DeadFrontierZN2012 Actually, anything you watch or load in a browser downloads to your computer. Your browser downloaded this page into a temporary internet files folder in order to load it. Once you leave the page, the contents are (supposed to be) deleted by your computer. The trend micro scanner downloads a small, temporary scan engine, the the database files to scan your computer and runs it.

well yes true, I am sick atm, so I overlooked the fact that if saves to a temp cache.
I have used this program before, and have seen viruses that block ma crap ,load of web sites, due to the virus controlling it, I just always found it odd that all sites say Down Load there anti virus. This one says online. My thought of online, is Virus Total etc, but thanks for the reply, I was just nit picking tbh=) good video
@DeadFrontierZN2012 This is what makes having a good antivirus so important, since viruses embedded in webpages are literally downloaded to your PC as part of the webpage. Some antivirus products are finally starting to block websites by content, since those sites are known to host viruses.
Hi. Just downloaded this app to a pen drive. I launched and updated it. If I want to scan my friends PC with this, do I still need internet access? Malware killed his connection. Will this app still contain the latest definitions when I plug my pen drive into his pc?
@Techadvisor10 Yes, that app will still need an internet connection. You are better off downloading malwarebytes antimalware, and its definition file to your pen drive, and installing it locally. Cancel the update when it tries to run, and run a full scan with malwarebytes, then run housecall afterwards. Secondly, is your friends computer running XP, Vista or 7?
@realworldgeek I already have mbam as well as several others. I just recently decided to stop using Superantispyware and was looking for an adequate replacement that can be updated thru my pen drive and retain that update within its program. A2 can do this, mbam, and sas as well. Housecall apparently cannot.
Still, I will use it as I find it intriguing. My friends PC is running 7. I did finish cleaning it. Its fine now. Thanks for the response!

@TheGitakTV The scanner isn't perfect, but it is worth a try. You might also download super anti spyware and run it on a complete scan.
