I love this theme. It reminds me on that time i killed gades on first time i met him in game. I was level 25 and it takes ca. 30 minutes until he was dead. o.O
the only negative to this game is that they did it for DS not Wii. Just imagine a Lufia game with full graphics like THAT. Watching the Sinistrals use their Spiritual Force attacks in HD 3D... now THAT would be epic.
@serpenttao im not saying what it is im saying what it should be, and it would be amazing. make it playable with one of the classic controllers and sell it with those
@Orwasitme 100 bucks for a game is too much, and besides the Wii doesn't do 3D HD. Just remake the entire game classical style for the PS3 with equally epic graphics
@serpenttao i cant stand playstation and i dont own a PS3. I think they should go back to Console like with Lufia 1 and 2. And i dont litterally mean 3D... i mean like, graphics like they used in Zelda: Twilight Princess and games like that, but with the characters having less girly faces and whatnot.
@Orwasitme I didn't literally mean 3D either, 'cause 3D sucks. And that's why I said, port it to PS3. So why can't you stand the obviously superior console?
@serpenttao as a gaming console yes PS3 is > Wii, but A) Lufia is Nintendo, and the game itself isnt going to change between systems.
B) if you're going to stick with cross-systeming it, go Xbox, the far superior system to any of them. Theres no argument, Xbox has the best graphics, games, and as of the release of the slims - best functionality.
All Playstation has on Xbox is BluRay which is bigger for nongamers.
@Orwasitme WOWOWOWOWO TIME OUT TIME OUT, I normally don't get into these arguments because people only adress the game pool, but you're calling the ps3 out on graphics here?
Wikipedia your stuff man, ps3 has the superior hardware and this is an undeniable fact. It is simply not possible that the xbox has better graphics, and as such it isn't the case. Equal, at best, due to developers multiplatforming things and not interchanging graphics.
@iamthepkmmaster Nope, there wasn't. They were going to develop Lufia 3: Ruins Chaser for it but the project got cancelled when the development company went bankrupt.
The game was disappointing to me. It was decent the first time through, I could endure with Brick Guy and Selan living for the ending, but the 'second end' REALLY pissed me off. Spoilers!!!!!!! What made the games ending great was how heart wrenching it was. If you played Lufia 1, you knew how it was going to end, but it was still so tear jerking. Something about watching characters you came to love die at the end of a game really makes for an epic ending.
Anyone ever notice that the lone crystal over there to the top left of where the shining shattered crystal is, and the huge crystal to the top right of the entire screen are completely out of place graphic-wise? They look like something from an old rpg.
Sounds like a game to check out. Any Lufia fan wouldn't care about how bad it is and just buy it because it is a Lufia game. Or atleast thats how I see it.
@ChoosenOneStudios I actually greatly enjoyed the new gameplay. Combat was more fast-paced and fun. Not trashing the original by any means, as it's the greatest 16 bit RPG EVER, but for what they did, agree to disagree. New one was worth a playthrough, in my book. I don't speak for every fan or even more than myself, however.
Okay, why was this arrangement not put in the actual DS game itself? The DS is more than capable of handling songs like this, instead what's there is pretty subpar if you ask me. They should've spent a bit more time tweaking as needed and making sure these arrangements were put in. Ah well, perhaps they'll give us a PSP or 3DS remake and include this song.
The only real downside of this game was it's length. Another thing I've been wondering for a time, it feels like it could have used a more powerful platform, such as the 360, PS3 or even a Wii if they insisted on releasing it on a nintendo console.
This is not bad. I thought it would disappoint in certain areas, such as story, but it didn't. I can't even come up with a reason to not like the game, other than it being not quite as long as the original (although thats not really a reason to hate).
What I'm saying is try the game for yourself before knocking it, I just really glad they didn't do a straight port with sub-par extras, like what happened with Chrono Trigger DS.
Seriously, guys, all of you shut up about what company did what until you actually start getting it right. Atlus had nothing to do with anything Lufia related. Taito (or more specifically NeverLand) made the games, but Natsume localized everything after the first. Square Enix actually didn't even TOUCH this remake, they approached the NeverLand group and said "please make a Lufia game for us". So NeverLand got together the EXACT group of people who made Lufia 1 and 2, and those people made this.
@DarkCloud64 I couldn't program it, but I could very easily.
Return a world map. Give us back more locations so it feels like we're saving a world and not a cul-de-sac. Make it so other characters besides Maxim can do anything in the final battle. Make it so Dual Blade's special technique doesn't punish you if you use it any time besides RIGHT when Daos uses his. Give us back overworld travel. Make it so we dont have to refight Gades 50 times. Remove some of Gades's immunity time.
@DarkCloud64 That's horrid logic. Go out and buy the worst kind of shoe you can find, and wear it. You're not ALLOWED to call it garbage though unless you can make a pair of shoes by yourself that are better.
@Archlvt There's a large boundary between constructive criticism, and just saying "It's garbage, I don't like it." If you can't be constructive about what you're saying, then yes, you have no right to criticize something.
@DarkCloud64 It is constructive criticism. The game should have been made better. There's your criticism. Besides, do you really think the developers are watching this conversation? Constructive criticism is pointless unless the developer actually hears it.
So what you're saying is, we can't do anything but praise this. If we praise this, then more companies will make mediocre games. Gamers need to be harsh to push developers to do better. Here kids, have a gold star just for breathing.
@Archlvt Any sort of criticism is pointless according to what you've just stated, so there is honestly still no reason to come out and say it's garbage. Keep your opinions to yourself and let others form their own opinions by playing it themselves without being swayed away from something they may like more than you.
Any reason why those guys decided to, from what I've heard, revamped the story and personality or all the characters and make the timeline more...steampunk-ish?
@SilentStalkerX Same reason anybody does anything. They felt it would work. They didn't want to make the exact same game, just a game that occupied the same space in the canon, and that's how they decided to do it.
And really, not much was changed about the characters' personalities at all. And the plot for video games is always tweaked to fit around the gameplay/locations/battles of the game itself. It's similar enough, with that in mind.
Except that it DIDNT work and it FUCKED things up more than anything. Serena should have been dead and maxim alone should have gone to break the crystals under the fortress, but no they changed it so Serena was alive. The game was way too short on top of that. And no, the presonalities were changed quite a bit, especially GUY. He was not some retard in the original game.
@pilotamurorei Oh yeah, totally fucked things up. Naturally, Selan not being dead for that particular moment completely ruined things because... Um... Because... Because that's not exactly the way things happened in the original game! Yeah. That's the only thing that determines whether a game is good or not.
Seriously, if you're going to complain, try finding a few of the ACTUAL flaws in the game. They exist, people are just too busy complaining about irrelevant stuff to judge fairly.
Guy wasn't exactly th brightest in the original one as well...one of the Reasons he wasn't able to use magic at all. But - well yeah - the new guy reminded me of the really bad Lufia Comic released just before Lufia 2. I don't like the new Guy, but I had my fun playing the game.
@Socran That doesn't mean that publishing companies don't put out a large influence on the game they want made. I mean, sure Taito developed it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Square wasn't behind the scenes telling them what to do. Most companies work that way, they do stuff that they feel will be the best way for them to make money.
Sadly I won't be getting this game for two reasons. One, if I wanted to play Lufia II, I'd play the original amazing turn based RPG, and two...My DS is broken and I'm a bit straped for cash for the time being.
@XxKyKiske2007xX This is what the original poster said: "Square-Enix even ruined the music for this game", which is obviously not possible, hence why I said Square Enix?
