"Keep on Running" is a song written and originally recorded by Jackie Edwards, which became a number one hit in the UK when recorded by The Spencer Davis Group.
Infact this is the original creator of this song.It wasn´t written by The Spencer Davis Group - he just let them do a recording. He did record it himself in 1965 - same year as SDG released their version in november.
@ZUGiole yes, well -but this isn´t the original version -this is from around 1970, but you can easily find it here on youtube, just heard it yesterday.Infact it´s a bit confusing cause some sources say 1965 and others 1966 as for his own recording, but it´s a certain fact that he did write it and that Spencer Davis Group released their version in november 1965
@ZUGiole the intricat matter though is that he released the song included on his album Come on Home which also contained a cover version of the Beatles song Yesterday and that had just been released on 13th of september that year, which didn´t give him much time to record the songs and get them on sale before The Spencer Davis Group hit the recordstores in november. On the other hand -why should he have let them be out first ? The early Edwards recording here on you tube says 1965.
Wow, this is a great tune! Adding to my reggae playlist! Thank-you for posting :)
