hmm. cars are just collections of mechanically aligned pieces of metal, powered by explosive gases.

mountain climbing = walking

bull-fighting is not a fight at all, just a human sticking a sword into an unsuspecting dumb animal with the idea of killing it while sidestepping predictable lunges

I think what he was trying to express is that those activities, in his day at least, were ones that involved putting a human life at risk; every year matadors are injured or killed. Also matadors can honour a particularly brave bull by sparing it; it then goes on to found its own blood-line.  The breed would not exist if not for the Corrida.
