Wait.. I finished the game on PS2 with all possible endings and I didn't get this one. Is this the PS2 version? Is this ending only in "Greatest Hits" Version? Sorry for my ignorance XD. Anyway, this is the best game I've ever played.
The mysticism in Silent Hill is a key factor in the enjoyment of the game. Having everything explained literally would undermine the experience. Players are venturing into the unknown, which makes the game feel much eerier and atmospheric. You are fighting against something out of human control, forces unknown which are terrifying and supernatural, which adds a great sense of helplessness to your character. The ambiguous storyline contributes to this effect and allows for much interpretation.
well anyways after i complete this game i will write a book of this. but it will take a while because im in the hospital and i looked everywhere for a tool to get that thing out of the drain pipe can anyone help me there ( im talking about the drain pipe on the third floor that shows the green goo on the floor)
You need to combine a strand of hair you find in the second floor from a box that has multiple chains and locks. Combine that with the bent needle and use it to pick up the key from the drain.
I dont get the whole point in this "Born from a wish" game, because if maria is made up from james mind does that not mean she shouldnt exist when he isnt around???
Well, I think Maria isn't totally made up by James mind. I think she's a spirit of some suicidal streapteaser (watch beginning and the ending of Born From a Wish), who were changed after death (at least her memories and appearance) by town's power to fulfill James desires.
So... What's really happening in this game? I love Silent Hill Origins, 1, 2 and 3, but I don't really understand... I heard people say that the monsters in this one are imaginary... So, all the monsters you kill in this game, are they in fact real people? If so, then how come in the first one, the monsters aren't imaginary and they aren't there?
from what I know, in #1 & #3, the monsters were in fact real people, it had something to do with the hallucinogen White Claudia, which the raining ash of Silent Hill is composed of. Silent Hill goes a little out of it's way to try & confirm this with some of Vincent's dialog in one scene in which the game alludes that they seem to only look like monsters to you. I can't say for sure if this is true for the other Silent Hill games (though it probably is) as I've yet to play them.

"Missionary: Cult members transfigured by Claudia's power, to heathers eyes the appearance it takes is that of a monster."
Ernest was a doctor or a "ghost" of Silent Hill. He's a lost soul who experiences his daughter's death over and over again. Maria encounters him in her journey to find out why she's alive in Silent Hill.
One of the few games that made me cry (on the part where I watched the videotape and found out that It was James that killed Mary...Man I'm still feeling that one T-T)
At 2:18, does anyone know what he means when he says "you're...."?
Does he mean she's dead, a ghost, non-existent, a manifestation of James' psyche....?

She is just an imagination, or a way to torture James for killing his wife, Mary. maria dies many times, just to remind James for what he did.

I know Maria was made up by James, but who was Ernest then and how did he know about James? Plus Maria knew who James was before she even met him.
Thats one of the things I love about the Silent Hill franchise. They leave things open for you to draw your own conclusion.
By seriously though, any thoughts on who Ernest was?
