@OfficialTijen It's from the musical "Hair," about hippies in the 1960s. The woman who sings this song is a normal woman who has a child with a guy who has run off with the hippies to save the world, ignoring her and her child. It's pretty straightforward in meaning if you see the musical.

@Fuddlemethisbatman Except that you're referring to the movie version. Sheila sings Easy to Be Hard in the musical after being rejected by Berger. Hud's fiancee and child don't even exist in the stage production.

I re-watched this, and I noticed for some of the higher belt, she sounds a bit strained... :(

I go to the same school as her and am told I look like I'm related... haha. (same name, too, different spelling.)

I'm SO sad this show is closing... Hopfully she does the tour.

Actually, knowing a Tony voter, I must say that it is voted upon by the best ACTRESS in a musical. Not best SINGER. Take Allison Janey for example. She was nominated because she is an ACTRESS and she was one of the best ACTRESSES in the running for 2009. Not a SINGER by far, but an ACTRESS. While Caissie does have the pipes for Shelia, she lacks a bit on the acting department. As did Stephanie J Block who I felt was a powerhouse in 9 to 5, but her acting was almost like Billy Ray Cyrus.
