  • CPU temps with my normal 24/7 4.0ghz OC run about 38c to 44c idle and 55c to 60c load (depending on ambient temp, obviously)... GPU stays about 39c to 43c idle and not much more load, about 45c max. A few benchmarks, keep in mind this is with a single EVGA GTX 280:

    3DMark06: 21,064

    Vantage: P16,178 GPU: 13,195 CPU: 50,296

My clocks for those benchmarks were QX9770 @ 4.4ghz, EVGA GTX 280 @ 756mhz Core clock/1566mhz Shader clock/1296mhz Memory clock.

  • Really nice man hows your temps

  • Very very impressive.

Gives me a lot of ideas :D

  • Very nice case and system. Sounds like you had fun building this beauty.

What is the coolant ratio of distilled water to FluidXP+?

  • Oh, I would estimate about 1/4 distilled water to FluidXP+ HP... basically enough to thin it a bit and improve the thermal conductivity without diluting the UV blue coloring too much. Next coolant change I think I'll try FluidXP+ Ultra in UV blue with about 1/3 distilled water. It's more expensive than HP, but it's designed to be diluted with distilled water which helps, and it has improved conductivity and other claimed advantages.

  • dude that looks cool, but is all that watercooling necessary? Now all you need is a WC PSU. I would be nice to see temps at idle and at load, benchmarks would be nice too.If your taking it apart to re-paint, have you considering re-building with the i7. It would require all new components, but sounds like your like me wanting the best performance. If you have time check out my new rig (in progress). painting the chassis today or tomorrow

  • Depends on your definition of "necessary", lol. Are 3 GTX 280s or a pair of GTX 295s necessary? It really all comes down to what you want to accomplish. Have I considered moving to the i7? Sure... but after some thought I decided there just wasn't enough to gain from an i7 965. I strongly considered using my EVGA 90 day step up to get an X58, but then I would need a new NB/SB and Mosfet blocks as well. For what I use my boxen for, it just wasn't worth the effort and cost to upgrade right now.

  • you make a very valid point. it's like defining the word extreme, everyone has there own interpretation. Anyway I admire all the work and money you have put into this rig. It sure is a show piece.

Btw, I would hate to be the one draining it lol

    Cheers

  • Lol... thanks, I appreciate it. Actually, draining isn't that big of deal; I have a Bitspower 1/2" sealing plug installed at the bottom with a Y coming off the main loop. I just position it outside the case when I need to drain and it's a snap (you might can see it in the video, it's the tube that seems to go nowhere under my HDD cage).

  • I use a stock Corsair HX1000W air cooled PSU. The Koolance 1300/1700w liquid cooled PSU is pretty snazzy, but also exorbitantly priced.

  • Yeah, the're wacked. What will they want to WC next, sound cards, TV tuners, these have a tendency to run warm, especially some sound cards I have.

  • nice lookin' rig man. i dig the blue, that's what i got myself. must run perty smooth too, eh.

  • Better watch out. Sarah Connor might try and take that thing out before it turns into Skynet. lol Nice system kurt.:)

  • Nice :)
