Another tip for any of you guys that plan on coming to this place: If you rent a car make sure you 1 Buy mexican insurance before crossing the border and 2 Even if you have $ get the ugliest car on the lot. And after renting it - most of the ugliest cars have hubcaps...take off all 4 hudcaps and throw them in the trunk. The car will look really ugly but its all part of blending in. I do it all the time. I visit this same street every month. Was in Mexico City and from what i know La Merced and Sullivan Street is where all the action is at. My guess is that they charge about 470 to 570 peso which equals to 40 to 60 dollars. As for Tijuana i heard the story, but Mexico City is just as bad. The best thing to do is not act like a tourist and you will be find. pretend like you know the place and map it out before you go down there

OK Tijuana is NOT safe, gangs are robbing people in broad daylight and right in from of lots of people who do NOTHING, and they do it right on the walkway from the border downtown and around the arch area where you have to go through to get the the girls.
