I'm a Christian and I somewhat believe in evolution. I believe God began life on Earth and began the evolutionary process. Before any atheists go bashing me for believing in God, I have looked at the other theories like the big bang. I feel like an ultimate creator of the universe is just as plausible as a dense ball of energy and matter simply exploding and creating something out of nothing.

@Flash13Magic I know you're not bashing me. Theistic evolution is a pretty widely accepted concept. I believe in the New Testament as it is written, but some of the Old Testament I look at as sort of symbolic. LIke the story of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel.

and pass them on to next generation. This make species evolve. Apes are not evolving as quickly maybe because no extremes in their environment force any natural selection. Another reason might be a poor gene pool as the numbers of chimpanzees are falling due to human activity which decreases the chance of any evolution to take place
@flodvo777 I think you are confused. The theory of evolution suggests that primates evolved into different species for example humans, chimpanzees, gorillas. Chimpanzees are not likely to evolve into human because they are not the same species so there are no in between species. There are however individuals of chimpanzees that have different characteristics. In order for evolution to take place something must make some characteristics more advantageous and so the ones that have them wil survive
@flodvo777 Actually apes ARE still evolving. You for example, are an ape, and you are evolving. Your tail, which exists in the embryonic stage, is slowly going away. Human adults have become lactose tolerant, our brains are shrinking. The appendix is slowly being done away because of non-use. just to name a few examples........

@coolvideo28 Human's did not evolve from monkeys. Monkeys and humans share an ancestor. I recommend you do a good deal of reading about natural selection because it really is a beautiful and perfect explanation for life once you understand it properly.

The human genome project showed that deviations between humans are greater than previously thought. There can be differences around 2%. However, the differences between humans and great apes have also been pushed back to around 96%.

Chimpanzees are not likely to evolve into human because they are not the same species so there are no in between species. There are however individuals of chimpanzees that have different characteristics. In order for evolution to take place something must make some characteristics more advantageous and so the ones that have them wil survive

Her argument was that evolutionary theory doesn't preclude the existence of God. Evolution doesn't say that a God didn't/doesn't exist, it just describes the different mechanisms for genetic change due to different forces, animate and inanimate. I feel that is where the first hurdle lies, in that evolution at its very core is describing genetic change in a population, it doesn't say chimps turn into humans. If we don't invest more time and money into our school systems, who are we to argue with

at 0:48 my mind was completely fucking blown...the chimp clearly reaches for one rock after putting the nut on the stone and then decides that the rock he reaches for isnt right for the job and looks back at the nut before he decides on a different rock for the job...it was without a doubt footage of a species other than our own showing not only intelligence but discern as well...i was raised a catholic but wow i dont even understand how they can reject evolution like that

using the highest, most sophisticated, functions of the brain to satisfy the most basic instinct; the need to eat. its like with people, instead of just watching football right in front of us, we have to create TVs, cables to connect and transmit the image, cameras to capture the image, and remotes to activate the tv so we can receive the captured images.

The human genome project showed that deviations between humans are greater than previously thought. There can be differences around 2%. However, the differences between humans and great apes have also been pushed back to around 96%.
