as an irish immigrant ,im proud to say my son sean patrick graduated in 2004.he fought in iraq for 15 months,he came close a few times ,but he did get home ok .i was so proud to see him in his captains uniform,and his men thanking him ,when they all came home to fort lewis .

Everyone please stop camparing there marching quality to all other countries, America armed forces have there own style of march on parade which it will always be. See the difference between the Europeaon/and asian countries is American military dont go for the spit shine Robotic movement look, no they look like free men who can kill. Just like what the french said when we liberated them, the americans dont walk like soldiers they walk like free men.

It's too bad the US army no longer has a sharp dress uniform like the cadet's 1820s vintage one. That way the army would look good in dress uniform instead of having that rediculous thing they have now. Eeveyone with yellow piping did the moron who designed the uniform forget cavalry is yellow, infantry is light blue, atillery is red ect.

@DrKorn5 Actually, White used to be the color of trim on intantry uniforms in the late 1800s. The uniforms of the 1890s were manificently accuted. Uniforms became more utilitarian during the first world war. Thank you for commenting

People should understand that these cadets are the equivalent of a basically trained soldier or ROTC. The marching and precision will not be there, they are "boots" in other words.

West Point is THE place to be for the finest of everything.

The academy, grounds, the view of the Hudson, the museum, the cemetery, parades, education and on and on are second to none.

I grew up not far from West Point.

The memories I have of the place are wonderful.

@columnsx As an ex-British Army drill instructor, I can say that these cadets are marching with excellence! You have failed to notice that they are marching on grass which is difficult at the best of times! The British military march on tarmac surfaces which makes it easier to keep timing and step!
