  • The best Drumline in BCU!

  • What do the snares have on their drums? I'm talking about the thing that the guy used to tap off with

  • @rhssnare LP Jam Bells. They only lasted for that season. They didn't cut through as good as we thought they would compared to the cowbells.

  • @teddyguy83 Well nonetheless, they still sound pretty cool, this is a really great line!

  • I ain't gon lie, NSU has the best drumline, but Sudden Impact is ma shit!!!!! Too clean and really precise!!!! BCU all day baby!!!! Great job hands down!!

  • @jazzycat1 Ummmm..... Are you stupid? This sounds amazing clean for a drumline thats had a very short about of time to practice. Secondly, HBCU's have about 2x the number of basses and 1.5x the amount of Snares as DCI, they have a reason why this isn't perfect. It sounds great anyways. And like @sousapwn1108 said, Marching Band is for entertainment. Save DCI for concert season.

  • I wish some people realize that something may sound dirty just because of the quality of the video -_____-

  • more cow bell

  • For an HBCU, Norfolk State is the better Drumline by a long shot...

I'm sorry but those rudiments on the snares are not together. Their open rolls sound dirty. This nothing to so with Corp style but rather fundamentals.

  • @franzswa no errbody wants 2 do a DCI style

  • tight!! that was sooo clean for them to have just learned that in like a week!

  • GOOD SHIT SUDDEN IMPACT. GOOD SHIT

  • Dat wuz live

  • And really dirty too. If you want to see a real drumline chesk out drum corps international.

  • once again jackass

  • @jazzycat1 dude they only had a week to put this together and if they only focused on sounding perfect they wouldnt have anything to perform

  • @jazzycat1 I march in an HBCU style band and I'm white. Drum Corps is great and all, but let's leave concert band to concert season. Marching band is entertainment. The fact that you're racist doesn't mean that this drum line is bad. In fact, "Sudden Impact" is good: very good, clean, and ear pleasing. DCI's "click click click click" human metronome gets kind of boring after a while. Admit it. Even though you won't. I still wouldn't mess with anybody in this "Jungle Drumline." Good performance

  • Please - looks like a jungle ripoff of BLAST!

  • And you sound like a jackass

  • @jazzycat1 omfg, dude! wud u stop bein a fuckin asshole?? please, u cant say shit decent bout a vid if it aint corps, u stuck up asshole. I hate wen guys like u just try and down every hbcu drumline just cuz dey arent as clean and precise as a dci line, if u got a prob wit em not bein clean den how bout u give USEFUL critisism too help, or just go watch a blue devils or scv vid and stop hatin all the damn time, DAMN!! Always got 2 rain on sumbody mofo parade and down sumbody, ya sour ass apple!!

  • @386niggah I see you got an A in ebonics. Congrats! Now go wash my car.

  • @jazzycat1 I hope ur at least a dent musician as much as u try and act all high and mighty, ya racist arrogant ass wipe

  • A dent musician? Not sure what that is and I merely pointed out that jungle drumlines are just bad.

  • @jazzycat1 wtf is a jungle drumline??

  • @Hallelujah010 Do you teach ebonics at Prarie View? Idiot

  • 2005

  • what year was this????

  • BCC has a nice drumline. But I will stick with my Norfolk State U Million Dollar Funk Squad. I use to beat on trash cans in jr high. BCC has a nice announcer though. It takes a while to learn all the routines. You could never have a fair drumline competition with HBCU school. All the judges would have to all be from outside.

  • In addition too may of the old tenor drum that they are carry sideways. You go do with those. It takes away from the Tonal Bass Drums. The snares rolls are not clean and crisp and in some places the tenors are not clean as well when they play their triplets or 32nd notes.... For a High School it would went okay, but for a College Drumline, it's poor. But the visuals are good.

  • This cadence has great potential but the snare rudiments are very bad. The tenors 32nd notes could be inverted a little differently for a better sound quality.

  • Dude this was SICKKKK!!!!! =)

  • yea as far as dey rudiment combiknations n wat not alot of it come frm DCI

  • Curious question. Who makes your cadences? Ya'll are never boring and always creative.

  • Our instructor basically wrote a template of the music but the section leaders and others made the necessary changes to make the show exciting.

  • Pedro Orey, my quad players uncle lol :)

  • im not a traditional type of guy but im impressed. some parts were dirty but they pulled it off. kudos

  • I'm gonna be honest, their line leans towards a DCI style of playing. Show style is all booty shaking. Dosn't require a lot of rudaments.

  • BCU has a nice blend of technicality and visuals, sure they could be a little more cleaner like most DCI lines but they definitely have showmanship and that's what performing is all about.

I personally believe certain instructors not students of FAMU's percussion are keeping them in the past or trying to uphold a tradition that unnecessary for percussion and certain students like a former percussion section leader of my band is leaving FAMU because of these conflicts in interest.

  • BCC drumline has always been way more precise than FAMU.

  • they make marching tenor mallets/sticks. go to a music store and ask them and they'll help you out

  • If your not talking about multi-tenors (Quints, quads, etc...) but the single tenor you use mallets, ludwigs are pretty popular.

  • No!!! You use tenor drum mallets. They have to be order

  • Listen to Cookmans Percussion sound down rights wouldn't fit.Listen to Famu Drumline sound, fits perfect. And Cookman's Tenor's are infront meaning they get alot of attention and you couldn't do none of the littler dance movers they do with down right, the drum would be moving all over the places lol

  • the only thing I don't like about about BCU is that they march a chest tenor instead of a leg tenor (my personal preference)-They're still cool though

  • It's the style, chest toner has more of a pang while leg had a boom to it.

  • I feel ya

  • Yeah you right... To me chest tenor sings and down tenor hummms

  • cHEST TENOR ARE MUCH BETTER MAYBE NOT AS LOUD BUT YOU HAVE A LOT OF FUN PLAYING THEM UP INSTEAD OF DOWN

  • lol Yeah Of course I think S.I. has the better style cause they keep you entertained.and I live in florida soooooo.

  • Those are 2 different styles of drumming i dont think you can reall y compare em...BCU is the best at what they do and MDFS is #1 at what they do

  • yeah you right but who has the better style???????? (hint hint) s phiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • Mdfs will win 10000% this show is the same show a dci drumline made Right!!!!

  • personally...bcc drumline is raw as hell..like they are creative when it comes 2 shows..but norfolk will make bcc shit in their pants..bcuz norfolk parties and dey selection of rudiments is sick..and quint line will shit on dem...snare line is 2 clean 4 bcc..but both of em are raw

  • da only thing i can say about NSU bad is that i see they play the same stuff almost every year. wheras BCU makes different stuff every year.

  • THATS TRU..... SAME BORING CADENCES

  • BCU all the way. Fam's "traditional style" is lame. Anybody can play what their line plays, that's why it isn't all that.....

  • I wish they would take that corp style sounding sh$% somewhere else. FAMU BABY!!!!!

  • norfolk? nah. They're style is too simple...but still good. Im not saying nothing about em, but Cookman got swagg.

2010 baby! Lookin foward to my crab year!

  • bigmancoop sorry to say but Norfolk will drill BCC hands down

  • You Mr. Roedagreat are a very intelligent man. You're 100% correct.

  • bad.

  • I LOVE THAT DIAMOND INTRO!!!!!

  • beginning dude was badass, rest sucked ass

  • Wow, this is awesome. I am a corps style snare drummer, and I must say, I have a lot of respect for the Bethune Cookman drumline. This drumline is one of the most skilled, clean, and entertaining drumlines I have ever seen!

  • you know what I tried to be nice but you fuck niggas from Norfolk will get yall ass str8 waxed by cookman hands down

  • Sorry sir this will not ever happen. That would be like a dolpin and a whale gettin' it on. Just not going to happen. Now what I say is stick with them wack ass SWAC drumlines maybe BCC will give them a waxing but it damn sure ain't happening in Norfolk.

  • shittttttttttt norfolk is so damn lame and boring

  • Dear brown baby jesus please bless uniquetouch05 because he has absolutely lost his entire freaking mind. Now I can understand if you want to see a bunch of visuals and gimicks stay with BCC. However, if you're looking to listen to some CLEAN percussion music please open your owner's manual and turn to MDFS. That's right turn off the lights so that no one recognizes that dirty drum banging going on.....

  • this fool is funny lol

  • They had 12 snares, 13 cymbals, 8 tenor drums, 6 qints, and 8 basses.

  • Snare part was dirty, but awesome beats :)

  • SHUT THE HELL UP

  • never EVER have more than 5 basses, 12 snares , and 6 tenors!!!!!!!

  • what the hell are u smokin? 5 basses wont cut it for a band that size

  • cosign... and i HATE tenor drums!!!! But BCC absolutely needs 'em. Hopefully you'll go to a clip of their full band after saying such a blasphemous comment.

  • Norfolk and FSU percussionist,I think this is constructive critism but interpret as you may, sudden impact is better than both of you guys percussion sections because Norfolk you guys are very clean but yall cadences are not original, all yall cadences are repeats and add ons of previous cadences, and Fsu to be honest I never heard of you guys and I am standing around a group of 20 percussionist and they never heard of yall either so yall must not be as good as yall think yall are

  • ooooooooooooo my dog is tellin it how it is!

  • Not to but in on anything, but I was in there, on that drumline, in this video. Im not gonna say anything to diss anybody, or say we were or are, better than anybody, but I will say i do believe that in 2005 was one of the best years of sudden impact, and we could have challenged anyone and would have def helld our own. From the Big 8, all hale FSU, to Alabama State & Norfolk. And i will say that this was a clean feature, but always could have been better. Sudden Impact Fall 04

  • yo i love all drum lines but i won't say equally cause i am a BISON. but all seem to always put on a tight show. that was hottt!

  • Million Dollar Funk Squad would murder yall who ever sad that bcu was cleaner than MDFS must have lost there mind

  • i said it. now what...

     -never fails

  • and kiss my ass

  • hell naw cookman would get in MDFS. Yeah they maybe a tad bit cleaner but Sudden Impact would dig in thier ass all day long. Cookman has better features anyway. Hell name one that can beat this one, and show me.

  • Man i performed at this wen i wuz in High school (THe Mighty Hallandale Chargers!!!!) and i remember how everyone wuz so silent and in awe!!! it was sick!!!!

  • sudden impact go hard

  • WOW

  • they suck compared to my drumline, CYPRESS BAY HIGH SCHOOL DRUMLINE, WE PLAY SCV DOUBLE BEAT CLEAN! TRY BEATING THAT! ;P check it out and comment!

  • I've been lenient so far, but I've seen your drumline, and they don't even match up with a real corps band, much less BCU. Don't shoot your mouth off unless you can at least come close to being able to back it up.

  • dude I cant believe you said that, I know you are entitled to your own opinion, but in all reality you just sounded real silly, you are in high school this is considered the best college percussion section in the United States Of America, well let me break this down to you in dummy terms your school percussion section suck, this is a college percussion section that is on bigger and better shit dumb ass. (lastly I seen yall little feature and it sucks)

    Mr. Fantastic

  • ok so BCU is ok...but lets not say they r the best. by faaarrrrrrrr FSU big 8 is better. hell! im better

  • I seen that shit. You and franzswa need to get a damn life! Your drumline sucks

  • stop hatin stay on a high school level

  • Well senteiwane, we could agree to disagree. You seem to be a very intelligent, well mannered, and knowledgeable person. I respect all of your comments. I can aggree with you that the HBCU bands play for their audiences. About the cadences, well I will say this. Maybe I spoke wrongfully about the aal sounding the same. I was trying to say that they repeat frames over and over again which kills the hook. BCC drumlines does not do that which I can identify and say that they are good.

  • Fair enough, franzswa. It has become apparant that I look for different things in a drumline than you do. BCU satisfies me as DCI does you. That said, I don't believe there is any more to discuss on this matter.

  • In addition setiwane, in my belief, if you were to place this drumline against a Division 1 School with a panel of unbiased judges, A Division 1 Drumline would win. We could talk about styles but there no different style when it comes to playing a cadence. They are all somewhat the same. BCU drumline is a very impressive drumline but as I said before, the side tenors should be replaced with something else. They are old and outdated from more than 20 years ago. HBCU tend to stick old tradition...

  • They're going to keep using their old styles (including the tenors) because the audience they play to loves that stuff. I've talked to a lot of my friends at FAMU before and they all say DCI is too stiff, too "not crunk". Bands play to their audiences, and BCU is no different. And all cadences are NOT the same. Some are written to emphasize musicality, others sacrifice music to improve visuals. Although I must say that BCU has the best drumline in the south, FAMU has the best overall band.

  • I understand what you are saying as well senteiwane. The BCU drumline is a great drumline. I have had the opportunity to listen to the entire band as a whole. I must say that FAMU could nolonger carry the title as the best HBCU band in Florida. But I cant reiterate enough that while BCU drumline is good. Their snares don't have the crisp sound as a drumline should. Some people on the snare line are not playing their rudiments correctly. That is why their rolls sound like popcorn popping.

  • uniquestouch05, I can tell by your youth that you clearly don't understand. Maybe you dont know your rudiments either. All you have to do is listen to the snare line. They definitely have to clean it up. BCC have a dynamic marching band. It is always good to accept constructive critisism. It makes you better. Only a fool refuses to take advice. Its is always better for people to think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Are you a member of the BCC Sudden Impact Drumline?

  • seteiwane, about the side tenors, that is old. Drumlines were using that more than twenty years ago. That is old and outdated these days. The Quints (tenors) are currently used in it's place. Most drumlines today use the Five Tonal bases, Three to five Quints, a snare line from about five to ten snares, eight to ten cymbals players, xyllophones, bells, or marimbas. And yes they all wear a harness. The straps to contain your percussion instrument are old and out dated you must admit.

  • Would someone open up a can of whopp ass on this fool! Go to hell

  • I can see what you're sayign, but emphasis on "most drumlines", franzswa. It's not at all hard for me to just walk around town and find drumlines using straps (except for quints), non-tonal basses and no pit. Straps give you much more versatiliy in terms of visuals (which is why I wish BCU's tenors weren't on the side). If that's the style the HBCUs like, then kudos to them. Remember, this isn't corps, visuals match or supercede "musicality" as DCI would define it.

  • I clearly understand what you are trying to say seteiwane. While both DCI and Big Ten Style Drumming are exciting, The DCI Lines and cadences are more clean and crisp. In addition, their cadences sound better. Don't get me wrong, HBCU Big Ten Style Bands as a whole are great. Their High Step Marching, their showmanship, their selection of Music Entertainment, and their sound really have my attention. It's just that the drumline are not that great. They are primitive with their equipment cadences

  • The visuals are nice. The Basses was a little overwhelming. Too many. The drills are too basic. The tenors sound ok. But snares need to clean up thir rolls and their chops. Their open rolls are clean and crisp. It sounds more like popcorn popping. I played with DCI and Big Ten Style Drumming. The Cadence I played In DCI are a lot more challenging, and the cadence sounds better. Not taking anything away from BC, they did a nice job overall. Nice Showmanship. The cadence was nice too.

  • Not to sound condescending, but DCI aims for completely different goals than the HBCUs. The bass is suposed to be big. And there aren't too many, but you may be mistaking the single tenor drums (on the right) for bass drums. Personally, I like the tenors to have straps rather than harnesses but whatever. With these bands, it's no good if it doesn't look good. BCU tearing it up: best drumline in the South!

  • Damn right! I don't know what the hell he is talking about. This is the best drumline ever! They have the best style.

  • IMPACT !!!

  • dats mi boy maurise johnson on da end on our right but he realy on da left end

  • the half time groove at 3:53 is fun if the basses were cleaner. overall this is one of the clearner HBCU lines i have heard. In my honest opinion Norfolk State is the best. Though these guys give them a run for their money, NSU has it down tight. Everything is DCI clean while not neglecting visuals, especially the stick toss taught by the Kevin Mitchell

  • But is everything in DCI is exciting?

  • what you said that is really a tough decision between mdfs (norfolk)and sudden impact cookman so I will watch both sections and decide who is better once and for all, but im from florida and all we see is the impact but i think if you see them in person you will fall in love with them to

  • Oh I didn't mean which Band is better I was just being sarcastic and asking if everything in DCI style drumming is exciting, I was sort of suggesting that I find DCI/Chorus style percussions clean and unexciting, neither BCC or NSU is DCI, but they are clean like a DCI drumline.

  • A BRO NO DISRESPECT TO YOU BUT I WAS RESPONDING TO CtoTheRockett BUT IF YOU READ HIS COMMENT YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT I AM SAYING

  • hey is it just me or are they throwing cymbols in the backround at 3:03?

    i have never seen that!

    WEST HIGH!!

  • yes there throwing cymbals

  • They got it from MBC AND SWD

  • think they have enough people? lol

  • solo snare drummer is talented...DCI level...they have taken showband and upped it a notch...snares and tenors are pretty clean, however, I still hate improper tuning...which they would crank the drums a bit...it would sound cleaner and tighter...they do keep losing beat...tempo goes slower and slower...they need a bit more work.

  • I love this feature hip hip orey

teddyguy83 you're my idol coming from a freshman snare at cookman

  • i luv dis video BCC waz on point people can hate all dey want Sudden Impact iz tight!!! a i heard yal were a university dis year. welll cant wait 2 c yal do it up @ da Gotham City Invitational on Saturday i'll b on second tonal 4 northwest halifax

  • n im talkin 2 da magneticgodhand dude! n dey had chest tenors stupid!

  • why do i give a flying fuck what kind of tenors they have?

    they suck. your an idiot.

  • dont even worry ur-self ...he just a dumb kid talkin nonsense. when he gets older he'll understand the difference between 'showstyle - dci'. and that most people from dci corps do showstyle on the side because its not boring. (..hence the first snare drummer u saw)

and because someone had to explain to him what type of drums they had furthers proves his ignorance. so any comment 'magneticgodhands' leaves should just be disregarded

  • ill say it again: why do i give a flying fuck what kind of drums they had?

    this drumline is NOTHING SPECIAL.

  • wat iz da name of ya skool n wat iz da name of ya line?? n do ya hav n e videos of dem??? imma put sum of ours up here like nex week wen we hav practice.

  • man its ada type computer slang we use. u idiot. n r u scared 2 tell me the name of your school and line? cuz u keep beating around the bush

  • sound like magnetic god hands is hatin on dem boyz from b.c.c. they is too fi

  • um. you have roughly 9000 bass drums. and your dirty for almost everything past 3:30. first guy was pretty badass. i wish that you would hold you drums at the same height, snare drums. the flashing lights are gay. and the opening of the video bored me. the music really isnt that hard besides the opening guy. just a shit load of some pretty cool visuals that you didnt do together.

not anything to be proud of. just an average drumline.

  • yo wat drumline u play 4!? cuz cant 2manii drumlines fuck wit BCC! i wonder iz whoeva u play 4 is better den BCC......

  • im in a hs drumline that plays better shit than this

  • n wat hs iz dat???

  • dont even worry ur-self ...he just a dumb kid talkin nonsense. when he gets older he'll understand the difference between 'showstyle - dci'. and that most people from dci corps do showstyle on the side because its not boring. (..hence the first snare drummer u saw)

and because someone had to explain to him what type of drums they had furthers proves his ignorance. so any comment 'magneticgodhands' leaves should just be disregarded

  • 4:02 Cavies 2000 Nice.

  • Damn, Cookman showed out. They make me proud to be a Wild Cat. Yea our BCC sign was a lil messed up, but hey, they still ripped it. And for those of yall hating "wodchaz," for example, don't be mad because you can't be a Wildcat.

  • Amazing show from the second best line in Florida. Tight as fuck...but my only thing was the BCC sign. I mean, everything was so tight, so clean...until you see this tacky yellow 'BCC' in the dark.

  • I'm not a fan of showstyle, but you guys did an excellent job. The drums are tuned quite well, and the line was clean until about 3:26. My only complaint is that there is just too many bass drums. It sounds overpowering and doesn't serve the line well.

  • SQUEEKY CLEAN I like dis

  • so the first guy was decent....but the rest?

    psh.

also, akuma, why are you proud of this?

  • these guys are dirty. they could be a lot better if they cleaned up the beats and maybe played some challenging music.

  • imconn, i wanna see you try and do that, 1 i bet you dont have the chops and 2, u dont have pedro oresy with you, and 3 i bet u wouldnt even get past pre band camp...o and yes im on this drumline!

  • Then how come they haven't created anything better to use with the trash cans - pretty basic. My hs students could learn that pretty fast.

  • man im a rattler but i have to give it up to them the sudden impact florida boyz

  • bcc got the best band

  • try blue devils posers!!

  • hell yes. its all about dci.

  • thats a white band....we talkin bout black skools

  • Yo real talk, dat right there was crackin. This drumline is da truth.

  • i love bcc

  • man that wuz hot

  • man them niggas had it bumpin

  • i wanna hat

  • how did he doooo that

  • That shit was sweet!

  • I was mad I had to be in the back while they were doing this... but I got the DVD so i'm good. All the hating, why is it necessary? Well when you hate, i see we're doing our job correctly!

  • Holly shit....I want in

  • I'm not usually one for pipe bands, but that was very sweet. Nice feature, BCC!
