  • This needs more views. way more.

  • Soundgarden > Audioslave... Kim Tayil > Tom Morello!

  • @ImtheDesertFox goddamn right

  • Chris with long Hair! Yay Yeah! Hell fuckin goddamn EPIC!

  • the perfect band.

I love'em from the early times to the last ones, including screaming life and fopp, although I consider "down on the upside" an inferior album because it miss kim thayil's compositions and therefore the darkest, doomest, coldest, blacksabbath-like side of SG.

however videos from the grunge era were very unpleasant.

  • MMMMMmmmmmm LOVE THIS BAND SO MUCH!! Man I wish they didn't turn into Audioslave.I heard some of their new stuff which was pretty good, but it just isn't the same! I miss the flowing hair, raw screaming & dirtiness.

  • @Christinacolasanto they didn't "turn into Audioslave"

Cornell joined Rage Against the Machine after delaRocha bolted

  • chris had more succes with this band than with audioslave

  • This is one of my favorite songs of all times!!!!!!!!

  • The Beggining of the Video is so bad ass

  • Ale's Yeah! This song is SO awesome, even Johnny Cash had to copy it.

  • by the end of this video that stupid riff will be playing in your head for the rest of the day (not like thats a bad thing)

  • One of the best rock band of all time and the fact that Johnny Cash would deign to cover this particular tune just shows how badass it really is. Take that Jonas Bros., Lady Gaga, et all.....

  • this was before they totally sucked

  • Badmotorfinger....best grunge album ever!!! Period!!!

  • grunge was a lame term & to call Soundgarden grunge is a disgrace to the band's music.

  • @ConiferTreez

your right, so let me try again. "Badmotorfinger.....one of the best albums ever recorded in the history of rock!!!" How's that suit ya?!

  • there ya go.

And, yes, truly one of the greatest rock albums of all-time.

Personally, I think 'Louder Than Love' was their finest moment, but 'BMF' is a very close second.

  • Soundgarden are back together

  • Brilliant song,awful video.

  • yeah the singer was milk monitor at my junior high. i used to kick him in the nuts for semi skimmed. thats what gave his voice that sound

  • @newman447

    nyuk nyuk

  • saw em live 14 tims. were a sight.

  • FUCK. YES.

  • The base player of this band used to work at a store I used to go to called Wild Rags! LOL Everytime I would ask him for an album, he would say, "We don't have it".

  • @AskAlice24 there is probably a book, but this was along time ago. I suggest ebay maybe.

also the fast single notews at 0:20 sounds like the guitarist is using an octavia(not octaver or digital pedals like the whammy).

  • I miss road rash :( These guys are great. Anyone know where you can get good tab. for this song>

  • great band

  • how old is he their?

  • probably like 24 or 25

  • so glad these dudes have reformed

  • Same man! They're my favorite band!

  • Shit this is so great.. I never knew soundgarden was this good. The video must be one of best ive seen

  • I think the start is the best part! : D

  • @Toth32 .. yeeeaaaahhhh, road rash, first version!! brings lots of memories :D

  • @Toth32: Yeeeah greatest PS game ever. Too bad there's no actual version of it. Kick it!

  • soundgarden is getting back together arent they?

  • YOU BETTER BELIVE IT!!!!!!1

  • this song defines my childhood!

  • Love this song and it's video. Thank You Kruller for posting this. Soundgarden is the most underrated grunge band of the Big Four.

  • they are back man i cant believe it they gonna make rap outdated

  • Philips makes screwdrivers and hammers.

  • Soundgarden back, to bring awesome Grunge back to our ears.

  • dude that game was for ps1 omg i have thatt tooo lol omg

  • ROAD RASHH!!!! such a great ol game

  • Welcome back Soundgarden!!!

  • Incorrect....

  • road rash.

  • Loved that game so much

  • This definately qualifies as "drive-fast music."

    \8-D

  • and hit all pedestrians at all cost.

    you forgot that part.

  • Lsd & this album

  • Comment removed

  • awesome ! locura pura.

  • Great song...love the sound of the recording too, if u notice, the bass has this kinda mid-rangy, flapping attack, killer drums & hypno electric-drill guitar..i heard they're back in action...Is Matt Cameron gonna rejoin?

  • love that song :)

    my high school

  • some people just talk so much crap..... anyway, great tune

  • grunge grunge grunge yeeeeeaaaahhh :-)

  • Ehhhh!!!

  • I have my sources

  • Thanks for uploading the entire video. I am stoked about the reunion!

  • This song is balls out. Definitely one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

  • I totally agree

  • what a fukin song

  • soundgarden wasnt pearljam before they were pearl jam. You are thinking of Temple of the dog they were pearl jam featuring chris cornell pretty much.

  • " I take the river down to still water" one of the most violent lines ever written. Cornell is probably one of the best lyricists ever.

  • @opiumrebel What's violent about it?

  • What this line means is open to anybody, to me this lines means "The protagonist beats a flowing, churning river to the point where it's nothing more than dead, still water."

If you see it that way, the line is pretty violent, in a positive sense.

The song is (to me) about rage, anger, breaking free from a deadlocked life. Not in a sense of being violent to other people but starting anew.

  • Good i can see your theory how ever i think this was a story of a person that took soo much crap that one day he snaps and this is basicly it. like 'You hit with with a head of broken nails. You pull my chain and watch my blood begin to boil' so that rusty cage was hes life till he broke free. I broke my rusty cage a a long time ago.. Great song

  • @opiumrebel - I've often wondered if he was talking about the Stillwater river in Oregon. These guys are from Seattle, after all. "Ride a pack of dogs" could be a reference to the Iditarod held around that area (metaphor for something, maybe?). The meaning would still be the same, though, regardless of the imagery.

  • Part I

First, a bunch of thanks for some lectures about American culture, being from Europe I wasn't aware about those facts ( I must admit I had to look up Iditarod in my Oxfort dictionary). Now I now the background of the lyrics, they make sense in that way (Though I prefer my interpretation of "take the river down to still water") ;-). I guess Chris refers to the things you say.

It's wonderful how lyrics seize their own life after being published [...]

  • Part II

( in part one it should read "Now I know..", sorry for the misspelling).

But some questions are still unanswered, what does Chris mean when singing "Hits like a Phillips head..."

But thanks again for clarifying some of the mysteries.

  • Phillips is a type of screw head, drill bit tip or screwdriver end. in other words, it's the "star" shaped one. Roberts refers to the "square" headed or tipped ones.

  • oh, and the context he's using it in probably means that it's like a Phillips screw being drilled into his head .... that's my thought anyway.

  • This is a jam!!!

  • love the intro so psychedelic

  • love when they stop start sooo sick

  • fuckn love the riff at 1:52

  • @poorscholar shutup you closed minded primadonna fukface just rock out ok?!

  • Thank you for such a well-considered, intellectually stimulating response. I love you, too. P.S. What is a "fukface"? Is what one wears over a closed mind?

  • @poorscholar fist in your anus!

  • Soundgarden= One of my first favorite bands EVER.

Love this song by the way too XD.

  • I fucking love this fucking song!

  • im watching this knowing it was made before desktop editing, and think fuck somone had to sit and cut that!!!!! legends.

  • By himself or with the great Soundgarden, Cornell has one of rock's great all-time voices.

  • soundgarden is like one of the founding fathers of grunge and kiks ass

  • fo sho dude...chris cornell sucks now by himself though

  • Actually, he's pretty awesome. I've seen him live recently...

  • He isn't so great live, sadly...

  • Fucking road rash!!! Yes \m/

  • Road rash!

  • Road Rash is awesome!!!!!

  • in the words of Beavis & Butt-Head "these guys are cool!"

  • I really like to download this video with a good quality.Someone has a link to do that?

  • wow twilght. REALLY!!!!

  • twilight? really?

  • i vote you die :D

Cash's cover was (supprisingly) not any good. i think it is actually, awful.

never say twilight on a soundgarden video. ever. EVER.

P.S. if your going to curse, take the time to spell it out right.

  • I'm into black metal and stuff like that but i have to admit that this is a HELL of a song :D

  • This was on Raod rash like 5 years back!!

    Fucking imense!!

  • YES! THE ENTIRE BEGINNING! THANK YOU!

*really hates it when parts of videos get cut out because someone else thinks it's not as important as some stupid graphic*

  • reunion, summer 2010

  • @longhorn2615 What, for Soundgarden? Is that official?

  • you knew it or it was just luck?

  • THIS was Soundgarden's best song. They had some great ones, but THIS was truly their BEST TUNE.

  • man your right. this has to be there best!

  • i cant choose between This Black hole sun and spoonman

  • @Zenntasimm

    Zero Chance - beautiful ballad/lament

    watch?v=EtAhcNm17Y0&

Tighter & Tighter - very psychedeic ballad (listen to it when high, to get all the nuances) - excellent stills too.

    watch?v=SHmBz9T7ml0

  • just wondering, when do you think that chris looked the most badass, then with his long hair, audioslave with his short hair, or now with his fro/not a for?

  • Short hair imo... Imo he was better with Soundgarden than he is now. Ppl tend to grow soft.

  • i think he looked the most badass with his long hair

  • yes it is

  • "a duffle bag of KICK ASS!"

LMAO hell yeah man you said it

  • "this is such a great song. i hate cartoons, they're so stupid and cherry. life is not cherry"(Sage)

  • Ha! What???? Oh god! You, my friend need to become familiar!!!!!! All of their stuff is excellent! I suggest you also try Audioslave if you like these guys. It's the same singer and the style and sound is pretty much the same. Both are excellent! Sorry this is long...I just got really excited! You've never heard of these guys???? Peace...:)

  • I love the beginning of this song

  • Soundgarden was a duffle bag of KICK ASS! The 90's were pretty friggen killer after all.

  • i like chris cornells facial hair

  • i love this song and it reminds me of when i used to kick the crap out of a game called "Road Rash"

  • me too man

  • hum....i'm changin my opinion 'bout grunge bands...what people say 'bout them, that grunge are relaxed is just 'bout that fuck nirvana...look at this sound...so zeppelinian!! pearl jam's ten is almost psychedelic, now this tunew...fuck nirvana! (except grohl, awesome drummer)

  • reminds me of san andreas!!!

  • reminds me of road rash for PSX ;)

  • the intro is vry gud!!!

  • classic riff. just monstrous!

  • mmmmmmmmmm, the good ole days :)

  • Killer... I miss Sound Garden... Reunion tour Please...

  • its about time for music to get this good again. a pissed off nation should just about do it.

  • damn straight dude...only problem is rock music these days is left to shitty alt rock bands trying to be weezer and american idol rejects

  • this is madness!!!love it!

  • Badmotorfinger kick ass big time.

  • I miss the 90s even though i had on 7 years to enjoy them :(

oh yea, btw, im a latecomer in the world of rock, i liked it before (due to repetition in media such as movies and video games) but it wasnt until i heard killing in the name of when i was playing gta san andreas that i really got into it. yea, san andreas had this track too. first time i heard it, awesome track

    SAN ANDREAS ROCKS! SOUNDGARDEN ROCKS!

  • Yeah!!!

  • Comment removed

  • wow....the tru chris

  • lmaoo ive never noticed it before but look at the bassist around 3:14 he looks like a jelly-fish-man thing

  • happy b-day kim!!!

  • I seem to remember another version of this video? Possibly on the Road Rage game for Sega Saturn, but I'm not sure...

  • I remember they used this song for the opening FMV on Road Rash 3D, with cops chasing dudes on bikes. But I only ever played the 3DO version. It was probably the same on the Saturn though. :)

  • OH YEAH!!!!! My favorite Soundgarden song ever.. just had that grinding grunge guitar that could lift me from the shittiest day when cranked at full blast. God how I miss the early 90's rock that has been replaced with this emo-scene shit with whiny mascara-laden skinny jeans-wearing fags. Bring back flannel, torn jeans and grunge.

  • Why the fuck do you gotta diss Matt Cameron and Pearl Jam you fuckin idiot. He's still a wicked drummer and still with a wicked band.

  • To me this song is only second to Outshined. Kick ass guitar man.

  • man why the hell do San Andreas cut out the end of each song. It pisses me off

ps. pistolpete667 fallout boy sucks but don't diss coldplay. they are the last hope of good music in today's world
