  • Have the VR5 on a passat. It's faster. Just better. Even though it's slightly heavier.

  • That sounds like a 2.5 liter I-5 to me but I believe what you say about a V5. Is it a Vr6 minus one cylinder?

  • Yes, thats right. In the basics this V5 is a VR6 minus one cylinder.

  • @Mrdg89 And the V5 sounds a lot better than the V6. V5 is a half of V10 with almost the same sound asa V10.

  • yeh the 150 hp v5 is 10 valve the 170 hp v5 is 20 valve these came in 2000 i think mine is the 170 hp on a y plate the way to tell is the 5 part on the v5 badge is red if its 170 hp with the 150 hp its all silver

  • @Apem89 its a 10V dumbfuck... rofl...

  • Nice car too.

Is it à 2 litres ? With 5 valves in each cylinders?

  • No, it's a 2.3 litre engine with 4 valves per cylinder.

  • NO : if you have the 150hp version , it is 2 valves per cylinder.

    2.3 150hp = 10v. ( 5x2 )

    2.3 170hp = 20v. ( 5x4 )

and people don't forget the differences between both engines are not just about the number of valves. there are a lot more differences within the engine ;)
