One of my favorite QotSA songs, they did an exellent job of covering this song, turning a fast paced rock song into a slow paced almost mythical sounding epic.
One of the best covers Ive ever heard of ANY song...The rule of covers is that it cant be better than the original but it has to be just as good...and of course QOTSA fuckin nailed it...fuck you other music!
A few weeks ago I walked out of the train and this number was playing at that moment. At the part of "it's a nice day to start again" the sun got up. Goosebumps and joy all over the place.
Whatever this band goes its just going to be amazing. I just wish Nick Oliveri was still part of the group, I couldn't imagine the awesome shit they could be doing right now.
@cigarguy91 What are you talking about dude? They are STILL doing awesome stuff! As long as Josh is around he will never stop making amazing music. Sure I REALLY miss Mark. Nick, yes but not as much. Nick got kicked out of Kyuss too, he was much too wreckless. Also he beats women, I cannot condone that at all. Plus its not necessarily a bad thing.... Era Vulgaris would have sounded different. I LOVE Era Vulgaris, I mean I LOVE all Queens' albums but Era Vulgaris was better than Lulliabies.
@RushAnthem69 I did say that anything they do is amazing and Homme is a genius, but Nick Oliveri was an integral part of Rated R and Songs for the Deaf. As much as I love Era Vulgaris, the albums made with Oliveri are their best albums. His recklessness is what made his contributions so awesome, you hear it in the music. Also I know why he got kicked out and Homme did the right thing. Homme doesn't need Oliveri, but their musical partnership made the best albums of their careers.
@cigarguy91 Agreed. QOTSA with lots of Oliveri + Lanegan was the best. I loved the variety.... anyway, I agree, it was the "right" thing for Josh to do, even if it kind of changed the band... Hope Nick can stay out of prison!
@gbrendel he just went back to prison! he had a stand off with the cops. Mike is a better bassist anyway! Nick was rad but the whole wife beating is lameass
Random thought: Just thinking this would make an awesome intro music for Canis Canem Edit (or Bully for the yanks) 2, whenever that gets made (it better...)
what about melvins ? tool ? desert sessions ? them crooked vultures ?
mastodon ? gojira ? pantera ? alice in chains ? i mean, none of them are better, but they're all part of a fucking BRILLIANT and completely original line of musicians.

This is a shtty cover in my opinion... To slow... Kinda repetitive... No solo... And Idol only says c'mon once that whole damn song... Oh well, not everyone can do a good cover.
queens dont solo much....you guys can really pick something good apart. Like disecting frogs...ths isnt biology...just music so just sit back in listen and if you dont like it just move onto something else. Anywho this is one of my favorite covers of theres maybe cause I didnt expect it to work but it does it for me :)
I've seen it and I love the bronze. *sings* "More you found, the less you been around." My favorite usage of the word"fingerfucked" in a song so far too:)

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Because QOTSA and Murderdolls are two completely different bands.
Era is far and above the shittiest release they've had yet. Every album after SftD seems to get progressively worse; wouldn't be surprised if it's mostly to blame for the label sticking their nose into Josh's songwriting (see "I'm Designer")
I love I'm Designer....I guess you don't just "get" the new album...and yes I love StfD, but it's overrated and I do love Kyuss...which is way underrated...
Also if you've really given what you said any thought you would have noticed that the label has been wanting him to do another SftD....I mean it's their best selling record, and he doesn't want to make a SftD2....that's pissing off the record label - NOT conforming that's what he's doing.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well in that case I really don't like the direction he's taking the music, then. It sounds underdeveloped, weak, and unstylistic. The high point of the new record was Make It Wit Chu, and probably one of the few strong tracks from it. The last two studio albums by QOTSA have sounded forgettable and largely uninspired.
Wrong, this was not their shittiest version at all, if you are a true QotSA fan you would know songs like Into the Hollow, I'm Designer and River in the Road are awesome songs..... this album is not like the others Josh Homme quote on QotSA and why the line up changes so much "Its really more of a musical experiment" hes trying to pin himself in a corner with one genre or sound hes expanding and reaching his limits, QotSA is truly amazing, and my least favorite album is the debut.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Wow, did you just copy/paste the advert off their myspace or something? This sounds like you puked up one of Josh's interviews. You've provided nothing in terms of proof for why this album is great...
The debut was probably one of the better CDs, although Songs for the Deaf still remains to be my favorite.
Debut really wasen't that good ;/ Give the Mule what He wants was about the only good song.... And this album is great because they did covers, they were good, they once more played musical chairs with the line up and made a badass album.... this album is great becuase Its QotSA.... I don't have to had tons of point, its Josh Hommes musical genius and QotSAs ever changing sound. I perosnally cant wait for their next album I only hope its as good as this, but I doubt it will be as good as SftD
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Mexicola? If Only? You Can't Quit Me, Baby? Some of their best tracks came from the debut, many of which they still play live...
Also, I don't see how Josh Homme is justifiable as a musical genius. He reuses a lot of the same melodic patterns in his structuring of songs and riffs. He has a few great solos (Make It Wit Chu being of my top 10 solos ever) but other than that he's just an average musician. Also, I don't see how changing the band around constantly qualifies is relevant in talent
Ok well maybe not a "musical genius" but he is a genius in the sense that he is not afraid to experimanet with different sound and expand his musical range. That quality right there separate him from most musicians. I don't know about you but I get sick of album after album of the same stuff. With QotSA Its always something new.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
How does that make him a genius? In my eyes, that makes him a normal musician. All these pricks that are putting out repetitive label-run bullshit aren't musicians, they're a dollar sign with some attractive marketing. Real musicians always embrace change because music is supposed to be an expression of self, and you should never remain stagnant.
Looking at the mega-upload link has brought a tear to my eye.

Absolutely hate it. A few clever lines here and there, but musically I can't stand a majority of EV.

Mexicola?

How does that make him a genius? In my eyes, that makes him a normal musician. All these pricks that are putting out repetitive label-run bullshit aren't musicians, they're a dollar sign with some attractive marketing. Real musicians always embrace change because music is supposed to be an expression of self, and you should never remain stagnant.

it makes him a briliant musician.
there is a difference between a genius and a briliant person

You still haven't put forth an argument for why he is anything but an average musician.
