I doubt the Earth is going to go anywhere close to the centre of the Milky Way anytime soon, because to do that it would have to travel faster than the speed of light, which is impossible. If earth's magnetic field is generated by molten iron that is not stagnant how could the field NOT be changing? The part that is common sense is that of course it doesn't change at the same rate or in the same exact way every year, but if there's a recent trend of about 40 mi, well then, there you go.
