The bars should not be there... Well... The canopy is from a Bf109 G6 late model but the tail/rudder is a mid production model... I have seen them use the late type canopy with the mid prodution model a few time. (Real life) But I'm jet letting out my inner pickyness. LOL Great looking mods though!!!!!!!
@flyboyfx The bars on the canopy look better. Makes it look more believable. Without them it looked more toyish. Plus the client wanted them and when the client is footing the bill you do what they want. Beside, the paint scheme that ended up on it wasn't the BF-109 scheme either. The plane got a complete make over and it more of a late model cammo scheme. Its more accurate then you think. Just not in this video.
The bar that you added to your planes canopy can be removed. The canopy was designed that way by WW2 Ace Adolf Galland. It was designed w/out the bar for better visibility. It was called the Erla Haube (Erla Hood/ Canopy) Also known as the Galland Hood.
hey man-very nice job all around.Love the 3 part flaps! If you want to tighten up your cuts, consider a laminate trimmer with a straight 1/8" bit. Run it along a straightedge or make other shapes (like for a landing gear hole) by using a template.I had all this stuff in my shop from my furniture building, but a trimmer isn't much- maybe around $50 or so, and $12 for the bit If you want some more details give me a shout on email (killerplanes@gmail)

If Propriety, then why even put the vid up here? the whole point of showing off mods etc, is so otehrs can do it, plus Propriety means you could if you wanted to......
The vid is up to show off the work I did for the client that paid me to build his plane. I build planes for people as a business. If I give away my secrets then I make no money. SO, sure I could do a tutorial showing everyone how I do what I do but then I go out of business. Think of it like this, you work hard all day and when you get paid I ask you for your paycheck having not helped you one bit. Something tells me you would be reluctant to do so.
@MOJONIXION They are like pennies, everyone has one. Don't like Mustangs and probably wont ever own either of those two. I hear good things about them but just not my cup of tea. Modifying them would be simple too.
@13ghoasts Well your plane looks super! I saw that Nitro Planes now has a 5 channel P47 that I'm drooling over. Bananna-Hobby has a great looking p-38 that I like also. I guess I'm I sucker for the "good guy" planes. LOL
I don't know much about the Nitroplanes P-47 but I know Parkzone just released a beauty. As for the P-38, get it from some other distributor. Banana Hobby just raked a bunch of people over the coals this Christmas from what I have been reading.
Nice Job. I realize the need to follow the original (real) model but did you consider mounting the wheel further apart by having the wheels fold into the middle (underneath the fuse) thus adding the BF's notorious take off and landing issues?
@FlyingScoober Honestly, no. I refuse to compromise scale looks for something I can learn to do better. After the build was finished I scraped the wing on a ground loop since it was the first time flying this plane. That was the last time I scraped the wings. The guy I built it for doesn't scrape the wings either. He has learned how to best utilize the rudder and to let it slow down on landing before attempting a turn.
It has flown. Several times in fact. One of my other videos on here is of it flying and the owner flies it regularly. It does weigh more but the owner put in a bigger motor and esc and is having lots of fun.
Hi, the flaps are not 3 flaps, the underside of the smaller inner "flaps" is actually the air cooler which splits open to let air through during start.
The function of flap is just an added bonus.
great mod btw.. say, could you write a thread on how you did the flap mod for us on RCgroups ?
Hi.
Is there a guide somewhere which explains how to split the flaps from the cooler housing and make them work as seen in the video?

I don't know if anyone else has done one but I haven't documented mine.

HELLO,
Did you use PKZ1081 for your flaps?
Do you have problems because the flaps go down too fast?
Thank you so much,
Felipe.
felipesgirl35 1 year ago
@felipesgirl35
I used the aileron servos for the flaps and put in better servos for the ailerons.
No problems with the flaps going down fast. The plane just slows down.
13ghoasts 1 year ago
wha servos are they for the retracts

@alexztyphoon
They are servoless.
