Earlier we saw MM as a sex symbol only. However when we read her bio millions lost their hearts on her. However Marilyn's true worth was realized only after her death.
Why millions love Marilyn ? She was a perfect woman with right mixtur of beauty, sexuality, sensuality and innocense. Keep Marilyn in a room along with other thousand ladies and you could make out who is Marilyn. She was not a dumb blonde and could very well understand her exploitation by studios and producers. A very kind hearted person with genuine feeling for the children, the poor and havenots. My eyes are wet now. There will be no second Marilyn.
Marylin Monroe - a tragic beauty. Constantly used, suffering mental illness, always feeling alone. RIP Marylin, I hope you found the peace you've always wanted.
Wow! never paid attention to the words until just now...heart~breakingly beautiful!. 'When I was just a kid' this song didn't speak to me w the pathos that it just did(actually brought tears to my eyes).Remember being more struck by it for Princess Diana's funeral (the revised version). The guy has genius/tho can't relate on other terms.Guess the 'language of the heart' transcends sexuality~both Marilyn's~and Elton's. Love is a universal language & Marilyn had a lot of it to give...if imperfectly
@UngKristen She was 'on' the treadmill... the Hollywood glamour factory, where studios saw their crop of girls as cogs in the money-making machine... and many got ground up by the machine & then spit out. Lol
Did u know that she used to cut one of her heels so one leg will be shorter so when she walked her ass would look really cute?. DId u know that she wanted to be an intellectual actress named zelda zonk, that was actually the name she used when she checked-in in a hotel. Did you know that she used to get into a cold bath for half an hour before any public appearance so her skin would look perfect?
I truly love this woman!!! She trusted people around her through her innocence but those people were not trustworthy. There is an innocence in her. a softness that God blessed her with. This song is an excellent tribute to her. I MISS HER.
Such a beautiful woman inside and out. But yet soo broken. Fame can really mess with you. And she already had a touch childhood and a tough life. And she died sooo young. But she left a mark in this world that no one will ever forget the beauty and the strength of this woman. Such an inspiration. Goodbye Norma Jean. I hope to see you on the other side along with my parents and cousin. R.I.P. :(
What version is this? its hard to find and i love this one best! im not referring to the Princess Diana Version, im talking about the goodbye norma jean version, theres this version and a version with a more softer piano sound...
Marilyn was the most beautiful girl in the 20th century. Actors now a days try to be look her all the time but it's a joke. I don't think any girl could ever be as beautiful as her. IMO.
@luvemusikk12 Obviously Mr. or Ms. or Mrs. you are blind and why are you on this page to begin with? Oh, you might want to check you're grammar when you insult, just saying...
It's funny but viewing these pictures and listening to this great song, possibly Elton John's best, what keeps coming back to me is that I would have liked to just see her without makeup, 1:28 is what I am talking about. I'd just have said, "go wash that bleach out of your hair, lose the scarlet lips, and let's get down to it. She is such a goddess, because she offers the consummation of all desire in those eyes. One longs to see the true face behind the mask made for her.
your right, this versions much better, personally i think its sacrillage to write an ode then to change who its sung for, but then again it is elton's song he can do what he likes i suppose
magnifique réalisation sur la chanson de ELTON JOHN**en hommage à MARILYN MONROE**; les photos sont Belle*, quelle merveilleuse*femme ; quelle jolie chanson*..... j aime ! merci à vous et bravo** : )
@FangsUpFrances I like her too, but i don't like her character in her real life much. She slept wit anyone she met, she used men. However I like her voice and look, check my videos of her. :)
how did she die? and maybe she would've been happier if she knew that some ppl looked beyond her pretty face and saw her as more lk 4 her singing and acting instead of her pictures
@ oioioi54 The Princess Diana Version was just an update from this one, of course this versionbetter as its an orgainal but i can argue its not less famous than the updated version
She really was something. Lot's of people that took advantage of her vulvnerability have been glorified & she was tossed aside in her last moments of her life and died alone.
right? the Billy Graham evangelical pastor to preach about jesus marilyn monroe and when finished she said I need no Jesus and one week after she died?
@oioioi54 The newer version was a tribute to Princess Diana. wheb she died. I guess Elton was older & maybe didn't sing as well as he did when MM died
@oioioi54 Well I think despite this being an iconic song,it was sadly only moderatley succsessful at time of release,1973 i believe,,11 years after mm died. Princess di version was released right after she died to a grieving population. I like diannas version its sad but this version is the BEST,makes me teariy at times =)
but i think that the fact she has gone too soon is good because if she were alive now perhaps all peoples would not consider her like the legend that she is today owing to wrincles

Norma Jean was the best actress of the mellanium by far ,
Poeple tend to call her Marlin Monroe but they made her
do that im usre she would have prefered being called
Norma Jean as that was her real name.
thums up so more people remeber how amazing she was
and remember her real name Norma Jean.

Marilyn Monroe is my all time idol.
People look at me strange when I say that, but people don't understand how wonderful of a person she really was.
No I'm not one of those teenagers who just say it to say it, I actually mean it.
She inspires me because she was around a size (Dress)12-(pant)8 and yet she is STILL one of the most beautiful women.
Shows that any size can be beautiful.
Rest in peace Marilyn.
We love you truly<3
