  • 1:15 - Awesomest. Parry. Ever.

  • Maestro Sonny Umpads sytle has become one of my favorites to watch. Much respect to him, family and his system. Maraming Salamat!

  • The Barong is such a superb close quarters combat weapon.

  • the smoothness and unpredictability of sonnys movements still has me in awe even after watching many times.

  • wow man, i own a cold steel Barong,i never knew it could be used in such a way,i thought it was a savage weapon made for hacking the living shit out of people, now i know i can hack the living shit out of people with style and class, even better.

  • Looking at his walls, I am imagining a burglar breaking into that house. What a mistake that would have been.

  • Guro maija it was great meeting you. you're doing very good job on teaching maestro sonny system. you and sonny look great flowing together. next time i'm there i would love to flow with you. let's keep in touch. Guro kibo. take care..

  • M- I am continued to be intrigued by the movement. I think the confines of that room blended well with your bagua and other styles. Small movements and flow in a confined area are something I need to work on. I love the various clips showing GM Sonny flow, the frailes, accelerations, swing step. M- how much of the movement do you equate to your time with the pendulum ball? woof - Peregrine

  • pirolak47 -

Flowing with a master dancer and eskrimador like Sonny had no real comparison. The pendulum ball is a good training tool, you just got to have the imagination and/or the muscle memory from flowing, to know how to use it to it's full potential.

  • Wonderful footage there. Thank you.

  • We miss you Sonny. I was glad to see renato this summer and we could have good talks in your memory.

  • goa in the background :) nice one

  • Sonny Umpad was a class act from the word go, and the world of Martial Arts is poorer without him. He was the example that most FMA gurus today are missing in their training.

  • i will miss you sonny, great friend, teacher and warrior.thank you for teaching i will pass it to my students. god bliss. guru kibo..

  • thank you for sharing!

  • Sonny was the real deal. While there are plenty of FMA knife-people, Sonny (and, a lot of people didn't know this) had his time in the streets- it was a bad day for the wise ass cracking racial remarks of his ethnicity. Those that were fortunate enough to be imparted with his tools, training, and knowledge were REALLY granted special passage. He will be missed- but he will live on in those who loved him.

  • Inspires me to train harder...

  • They are both very good, nice flow.

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing this!

  • A great FMA teacher passed on but his legacy lives on....what all FMA practitioner must strive for...for FMA to live on for the future generations.....thanks for sharing.

  • the more i see this man move...the more i appricate what he did with his knowledge of the filipino arts.
