If he was afraid of being shot by the soldiers he was with, then that is something that he will have to live with. Did he save other lives because he took live footage of what the war involved? Robert Fisk is probably the ONLY war reporter that I have any respect for - at least he confronts issues, and calls a spade a spade. If anyone wants to really know what any war is about, look for Robert Fisks reporting on Youtube. He doesn't talk to his audience like they are five year olds.
The Iraqi man had been shot by soldiers that this reporter was entrenched with. He shows footage of this, and then he seems to have a bout of conscience when he helps an injured soldier in the group that he was with. I read the book first, and watched the cd that came with the book. I don't doubt for a minute that his footage was invaluable for the ordinary man and woman sitting at homei n their comfortable living rooms. But his excuses for not helping a dying man spoiled the whole effort.
While he sounds genuine, I have to question whether he made the video Hotzone, along with his book, to earn himself money and fame. What annoys me the most about American reporters is that they speak to the audience like we are five year olds. He does it perfectly. I admire any person who puts themself in harms way to get a story, but I don't accept that he can cast aside his conscience, in some cases, to explain his actions. I refer to his decision not to help a dying Iraqi man.
The love of money is the root of all evil. You can not serve God And Money. To serve God is to give money to those in need and to serve money is to horde it for your self and destroy that which tries to take it from you, Thus not serving God. handydude is correct, war is about money and those who seek to serve it.
War is about one thing MONEY. The rich create wars through CIA's, KGB's, MI6"s, by weaponizing both sides. And getting the governments to borrow from them, long term notes that just get bigger. Like Mortages that are open ended borrowing.
The Vatican is the biggest money machine there is. No one steps on their toes. They are not a religion, they are the Mafia of the mafia. The true Puppet Masters of the smaller puppet masters like Cheney.
The pope proves that by bowing to idols like the statue of Mary, when his own bible says to have no idols, make no statues.
