  • And as I went home on Sunday night as drunk as drunk could be

I saw a body upon the bed where my old body should be

Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me

Who owns that body upon the bed where my old body should be

    Ah, you're drunk,

you're drunk you silly old fool,

    Still you can not see

That's my mother upon the bed who finally cames to me

Hey, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more

But a old woman with straight standing dick I've never seen before

Sunday-> I saw a "thing" in my wife's "thing" where my own "thing" should be, That is just a rolling pin (tin whistle or candle) that me mother sent to me, A rolling pin (whistle or candle) made of skin (with hair or with a pair o balls) I never saw before

  • @mathias86x LOL and me ;D

  • when was this recorded?

  • @Maxdaebel I think it was 1984 but I'm not 100% sure.

  • @pddybrry This has to be at least 1988 ish. as Eamonn is in the video, he joined after Ciaran passed away in '88 and Ronnie mentions they sang this on Top of the Pops 20 years ago and that would have been in 1967/68.

  • @pddybrry eamonn campbell didnt join the band til 87 :)

  • @pddybrry seven drunken nights was on top 20 in 1969. so must be around 89 I think

  • @Maxdaebel wiki claims that the version of the Dubliners was recorded back in 1967 (or so):

    Cheers !

  • @Fubs it is a brit and hibernian isles old joke, get older and yews will get it eventually, before yews die, maybe.

  • @floppetylove

As I went home on sunday night, as drunk can be, I saw a thing within a thing where my old thing should be. So I called me wife and I said to her, Will you kindly tell to me who owns this thing within a thing where my old thing should be. Ah you're drunk, you're drunk......, that's a lovely candlestick my mother sent to me. Well its many a day... but balls upon a candlestick I never saw before.

(I heard it more than 20 years ago, but I think it is correct so)

  • @floppetylove I'm also looking for the full version :(. I've only ever heard the "clean" verses :)

  • @floppetylove

I know about the lyrics on all 7 days......never heard a full version of this song though

  • @floppetylove Firkin does a sort of punk cover of the song wit all 7 verses, not sure the last two verses aren't made up though.

  • Could anyone please tell me the piece of music near the end of this song?. Is it from Fiddler on the Roof?

  • @ proinsiaspad

Close -- same era, and also from a show -- but only a movie, not a live musical (FotR was both -- on B'way in '64, out on film in '71).

The song is "Never on Sunday," from the 1960 flick of the same name.

Since the movie was about a "working girl" (played by Melina Mercouri) who sang the song, having the wife using that song in response to his question implies... well, you can take it from there.

  • Sounds like Zorba the Greek to me.

  • @proinsiaspad

Neer on a Sunday? Greek I think.

  • Barney is a legend

  • CLASSIC TUNE

  • hair

  • I love the Irish Accent.

  • @relimes To me it's a bit difficult to understand, I always have to check the lyrics when I listen to irish music... altough, I'm not english so maybe it's not a big shame :)

Anyway, I love this song! And I miss the last 2 verses, they're so funny :D

  • @relimes It's NOT an accent! :-)

  • damn this is a good one..to bad they wont sing the hole version of seven drunken nights..that would be awesome!

  • @dragonkinghtlord exactly, " and I saw a thing inside her thing where my old things should be" this version is too well behaved...heehee

  • lmao, aye lad ur right! it is way to well behavied..its not befitting a true drunkerd song!

  • @dragonkinghtlord I'm not a lad, but yeah drunk people don;t mind naughty stuff and especially irish people don't mind singing such stuff...!

  • @Danny30011980 sure fuck our country would be ruined without it

  • @Danny30011980 "who owns those mitts, opon your tits, where my oul tits should be?"

  • @Danny30011980 whoops, "mitts" should be

  • This is the best live version and video of seven drunken nights here on youtube !

thanks for that and greetings from germany !

  • i love his voice!

  • i love ronnie!

    R.I.P. from cologne
