  • That's awesome! I'm so glad you are getting something out of my videos! :) I'm glad you were able to make the edible glue! Good for you! :)

  • this is very nice... ~_~ you seemed very passionate on what you are doing and you're great at it obviously.. ~_~ can i just ask what you are using to stick all the parts together? tnx.. ~_~

  • Thank you! Yes, I LOVE sculpting with sugar. It's so challenging and so much fun! :) I used edible glue to stick everything together. It's a mixture of tylose powder and water. Aine2 here on youtube has a wonderful tutorial on how to make it. SUPER EASY. I think you might be able to find the video in my favorites list. :)

  • Nice ... thats so sweet RESPECT

and the music is GOOD 5:04 ;-)

    nice JOB ;-)

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • thank you dear for the reply, i really appreciate:)

  • You're very welcome! :)

  • i need to ask about:

1- what kind of colors did you use ( powder, gel, liquid) and which one gives a good effect?

2- which color did you use for coloring arms and face?

3 do u have a good recipe for making fondant at home?

  • 1. gel colors

    2. watch my how to make flesh color gumpaste tutorial

    3. watch my how to make gumpaste tutorial

    :)

  • how did i end up here i was watching spongebob episodes ;/

  • You probably watched one of my SpongeBob cake videos. Why are you watching SpongeBob episodes? LOL!

  • Thank you so much for an amazing tutorial!! You are so talented, thank you for sharing your gift!!

  • You are very welcome and thank you so much for your kind words! I appreciate that! :)

  • Pleas can you a doctor fondant figure :) great work love it but it was little hard for me to shape the body and the legs :( but with practice it will be better

    thanks for your help

  • Thank you! Just keep at it! :)

  • can you show us how to make the clothes for the gumpaste dolls

  • Hi. I think I did in this video.... The clothes are made as part of the body. Not separately. At least not in this case. :)

  • love your video, thanks

  • You're very welcome! Thank you for watching! :)

  • love this tutorial ! thank you so much for sharing ! i will be trying this very soon!

  • You are very welcome! Thanks for taking the time! :)

  • I made one today, kinda following your way, I made the legs and made the belly and covered the belly with red fondant to get a loosen shirt style, I use a wooden stick to hold all pieces but it kept fallin forward or backwards...and for some reason the legs kept streching too, anyway..it's all in the gargabe now, I will start again tomorrow :)

  • Sorry to hear of your trouble. Are you mixing tylose powder into your fondant to make it stiffer? If not, then your fondant will be way too pliable like dough and will not do what you want it to do. Try puting a wooden skewer all the way up her but into her torso and the skewer should be coming out under her butt and into styrofoam or something to hold her in place. You don't need sticks to attach the legs and arms. All you need is edibel glue. Try again and again! You'll eventually get it. :)

  • @laurapoopie

I am using gumpaste made with glucose, I made it again last night but this time I used a bunch of crisco while molding it, the difference is incredible, it loos nice and shiny, I was afraid it was not going to dry because of the crisco but it did, I have not have the need to get me a styrofoam cake, but I think for this it will be helpful, thanks for your tutorial, it was a big help!

  • Great video! One quick question what do u use to get the skin color right and also is is the same tecnique used to glue fondant together? Thanks!

  • Thanks! I use gel food colors by Wilton mostly. You have to combine different colors to get whatever skin tone you want because there really is no such thing as a flesh color. :) Glad you liked the video! :)

  • This is Awesome! Thanks for sharing this video!

  • Thank you! You're very welcome! ;)

  • Thank you for showing such detail. I have seen this before and now I know how to make it.

  • You are so very welcome! I'm glad you found this video useful! :)

  • Brilliant

  • Thank you! :0)

  • This exactly what I needed to top off my sisters birthday cake. Brilliant, Thank you

  • Great video !!!!!!! Im goint to make one now for a baby shower this weekend. Thank u so much for sharing ur talent with us.

  • Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it and found it useful! :0)

  • Thank you so much for sharing this.I'll use it on my next baby shower cake. :)

  • You're so very welcome! That's wonderful! Your cake will be amazing! :)

  • Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! Can gumpaste be replaced with fondant? Thanks :)

  • Thank you! Yes it can. It may just crack a bit more on you and will be more pliable so it may be just a bit tougher to have things keep their structure while drying. Fondant is very soft. :)

  • Thank you for your channel. You make beautiful cakes. I love your work!

  • You are very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to watch! I appreciate it! :0)

  • Just come across your video and its great .Well done. Just one question. How do your keep your model so shiny looking? Mine always end up covered in icing sugar. Look forward to your response.

  • Thank you so much! I never use sugar or have it anywhere around when working on gumpaste figures. I add a bit of shortening to my hands to keep the gumpaste soft and this happens to add shine. When your figure is complete you can brush it with a little tiny bit of vodka and this gives it a nice shine. :0)

  • @laurapoopie Thank you for your quick response. I live in Liverpool England and we seem to do things a little different here but i'l definitely try the shortening trick on my cakes. Im just experimenting with figure head making at the moment. Is there any chance you could post some videos specifically about making and adding hair and bodies. Your cakes are the best. Well done.

  • You're very welcome! I will definitely consider making a tutorial on hair and heads if time permits in the near future. Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you like my work! :0)

  • The video was great! I just finished my first lady. Are you using tylose to hold the peices together? and what type of fondant sre you using?

  • Thank you! Good for you! I use edible glue which is a mixture of tylose powder and water. I use the cheap Wilton fondant (which is horrible tasting, lol!) mixed with tylose. :0) Glad you liked this vid sweetie! :0)

  • Wonderful video! I made my fist pregnant lady just now! Couple questions though: Are you using tylose to hold the parts together? and I used already colored fondant from the craft store and then I used the non colored for her dress and colored it myself. It did not do as well as the pants and legs and arms ( that were the already colored fondant). Any suggestions? I'd like to send you a picture do you have an email where I could show you my creations. I'd like your opinion. Thanks again!

  • THANK YOU! I'm so happy for you! Sounds like you're on your way to being an awesome sugar sculptor! I recommend using a bit of shortening to soften the gumpaste and avoid cracking. Yes! Send me your pics! Would love to see them! My e-mail is krazykoolcakes@hotmail.com. :0)

  • THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE! I AM GOING TO THAT WEBSITE RIGHT NOW!!!

  • great video! thanks so much it was perfect...my question is...where can i get a "dummy" styrofoam cake like yours? Thanks so much..u are definitely blessed with talent!

  • Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words! You can purchase these styrofoam dummies online. I recommend either globalsugarart or globalsugarcraft. Both places have them reasonably priced. Glad you liked the tutorial! :0)

  • Hi Laura, congratulations on a fabulous video, particularly liking the fast forward sections and the lovely music goes so well. Your figurine is cute and your cake is beautiful, as always.... so inspiring, thanks Debs x

  • Thank you so much Debs! You are VERY KIND! :) I'm glad you like the music. I love Sarah Brightman! :)

  • Thank you SO much! :0)

  • Hi,

Love your pregnant women, looks super!

I'm going to try to make her for an Apr-30 shower. I'll be making one or two pieces of her body at a time....do they dry out? Should I place each part in a plastic baggy as I make them?

  • Hi and thank you! Yes, they do dry out and harden fairly quickly. You may just want to add toothpicks so that you can glue on the softer body part to the hardened body part. Or, you can bag each one as you suggested. Sure your pregnant mommy will come out great! :0)

  • I just loved all your videos, esp this tutorial video. You are very talented and creative.

I have a q : Where do you buy the colors from?I once wanted a real red color fondant but I couldn't achieve it. it looked very pale inspite of adding lot of red color from wilton's 12 icing colors. So any recommendation of where to buy colors?

    Thanks!!

  • Thank you SO much! Yes, I learned VERY quickly that red and black are VERY hard to achieve. So, my solution is just to buy pre-colored red and black satin ice, add a little bit of tylose, and VOILA! Gumpaste! LOL! I purchase my Satin Ice from globalsugarart dotcom. Try it! :0)

  • Thanks for getting back to me..I'll buy from global sugar.com. Good Luck with all your cakes!

    Thanks once again.

  • Thank you so much! I think in a day and a half it was completely dry inside and out! :0) Glad you liked the vid! :)

  • where can i get those shaping tools and what r they called?

  • You can buy them at any craft store. They come in a set by Wilton. I think the whole clear plastic cake is like $20. You will use EVERY tool! :0)

  • Omg laura your just like so perfect making cakes. Love to watch them. To bad your so far.., i would be your assistant.. I live in chicago..Excellent Job!!! Felicidades. I really do admire you.

  • thank you so much for this video its amazing :)

    I wanted to ask 2 things :)

    kindly help...

1- I disparately need a good chocolate recipe with chocolate filling which can hold the figure and taste good too.

2-when we should put the figure when we are delivering the cake or after we reach there n then we set the cake over there .

your help will be highly appreciated.......

  • Hi and thank you! :0) Warren Brown here on youtube has an awesome chocolate recipe. You can find his cakelove channel here on youtube. You can put a figure on ANY cake because you should insert fat straws or dowels in the cake to support the weight of the figure on top so it doesn't squish the cake. 2nd, if you CAN put the figure before delivery that is great, but if it's big and bulky and you're afraid of transporting it on the cake, then save yourself the stress and do it at the site. :0)

  • Thank you for taking the time to watch it! :0)

  • thank you so much for this video its amazing :)

  • Hi! Yes, pretty much. Of course I watched a lot of youtube videos... That helped A LOT! I had a lot of help from my friend Mayen that started me off on the righ path as far as figures. :0)

  • Quick Question: What are you using as the "glue" on this figure?

  • Edible glue which is a mixture of tylose powder and water.

  • love it!

  • Thank you! :0)

  • Great tutorial! Thank you so much for posting!

  • Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! :0)

  • sooo beautiful thanks for sharing!!!

  • Thank you for taking the time to watch! :0)

  • buenas noches laura,

  • oh!! is so sweet!! can wait to end my degree and start forming a family! i'm gonna bake myself a cake with this topper!

    so cute!

  • Thank you! :0)

  • Thanks for the tip! =)

  • You're very welcome! :)

  • Thanks for the video...I attempted to do one pink cake box figures and it was a bust! and I do figures all the time..it was the girl with the diamond ring...the gum paste keep drying before I can make her arms, shoulders and neck, argh! anyhow I noticed you put her head on still fresh (not dried)...don't u find that it falls back when its wet? I normally have to use something to hold it in place, but now I left the head dry first before putting it on.

  • You're very welcome! Glad you liked it! Yes, I put everything on fresh as a rule of thumb. If you insert a toothpick in the torso and then adhere the head with an edible glue, you should have no problem with the head tilting in any direction. Usually, if it tilts in the first place, it's because it was glued in the proper position. Be sure to always find the center of gravity for the head. :)

  • Love it. I have to try this.

  • Thanks! :0)

  • Oh Laura, that was awesome!! Me and my daughters were just sitting here watching, they loved it too! :D

  • That's so great! Thank you! :0)

  • Laura this is sooooo adorable! Thanks for sharing! I really want to make one now! lol

    Danielle x

  • Thanks sweetheart! Glad you liked it! :0)

  • Awesome Laura. I did not see this one on my subscription, I just so happened to be passing by your page...what a find!! Thank you for the great work.

  • Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found it and glad you liked it! :0)

  • what are you using to adhere the arms to the figure? Is it straight vodka?

  • I'm using edible glue which is a combo of tylose powder and water. :0)

  • Preciosisimo *-* Muy curiosa!

  • Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! :0)

  • I love this video Laura! Thanks for sharing. BTW I love watching your mom helping you . She must be a natural at it.

  • Thank you so much sweetie! Actually, my Mom has come a looooooooooong way. She's proof that ANYONE can learn. :0)

  • Showing us your tricks. LOL.

  • Haha! I don't mind. :0)

  • @laurapoopie Good because I'm taking notes. Is your mom a cake designer too? She's good. Please let her know I said hello eventhough, you both don't know me. LOL. XOXO

  • Haha! That's great! No she's not a cake designer. But she is SO eager to learn! I don't know what I would do without her... :) I will definitely tell her you said hello! That will put a huge smile on her face! Thank you! :0)

Lo has intentado?

Gracias a ti! :0)

  • Laura!! Thank you SOOOO much for sharing that!! One question... What do you use for the glue? Thanks Again!!!

    Your talent admirer, Denise (lol)

  • You're very welcome sweetie! Thank you! The edible glue is a mixture of tylose powder and water. Aine2 here on YouTube has a great tutorial on how to make it. Super simple! :0)

  • Thanks! :0)

  • oh thank you laura! i am so glad you shared this with us, helps me to understand how to make this figure, I have a baby shower coming up for my best friend, and this would be a cute topper!

  • Awesome sweetheart! Thank you! :0)

  • Thanks for this video Laura. Quick question,,,what did you use to attach the head to the neck...was it spaghetti?

  • Hi! I used a toothpick and stabbed it halfway into the neck and torso. :0)

  • Hi Laura. Lovely modelling! If you want to make torso, shoulders and arms together in one go, just make a long sausage and the middle of it should be thicker than the arms, shape the should and done! Give it a go, it gives a wonderful finish!

  • Hi Nivia! Yes you're right! :) That way works as well! :) So glad you liked it! :0)

  • amazing!! Thanks soo much for posting this Laura, I really Appreciate it!!:o)

  • Thank you so much! :0)

  • Great job. Thank you for posting the tutorial. Quick question. Are you working directly on the cake or is that a dummy cake you are using until she dries?

  • Thank you! That's a styrofoam dummy cake that I stab a wooden skewer all the time throught the same hole in the styrofoam. That way when I lift the figurine, the skewer comes out with it and THAT'S what I use to stab into the cake and holds the figure perfectly. :0)

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gracias Tere! :)

  • incredible! Thanks for the step-by-step instruction! It's amazing to see something go from a ball of 'dough' to a person with a bag! Thanks for always sharing!!!

  • Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! :0)
