I've read revelation probably 20 times or more Jesus is writing to he churches in Turkey in the passage you quoted.That section has had many different interpretations over the centuries.Both literal and allegorical.Both are correct,the historical churches he wrote to were having the problems described and those are also 7 types of churches you will find in all ages .What he was referring to were the synagogues that were persecuting the early Christians,filled with hate not love of God.
