Larry Moe and Curly is way too kind!! I say bail out GM and take over all operations of the business. Look at the Green Bay Packers of the NFL and how the fans (tax payers) are share holders, can't we do something like that for everyone that pays taxes?
I like your Curly, Larry, & Moe Philosophy. But how can anybody trust the auto makers to do what they should do with the money. What would stop them from using it for their own personal interest? like skipping out to a different country and starting up a new business? or worse, using it to buy capital in a foreign company. Investing American money in foreign business seems like a sure death for all americans.
I heard a conservative talk show guy(and many other "news" outlets) saying that Detroit union auto workers make $70 per hour.... I wanted to ask the guy where he gets
off making up lies like that. The real number is closer to $23 per hour.
I'm by no means an expert on all of this, but I believe that the $70.00 an hour figure is calculated with wages AND benefits. The average American Toyota worker makes somewhere around $45.00 an hour.
They get a standard hourly wage rate, but then they get all kinds added extras like cost of living, profit bonuses, and so forth. They get a lot of extra money added to their paychecks that are not factored to their hourly rate. They can take courses and seminars which they get paid to do, plus they get free things for doing it as well such as if its a computer course, they can get a free complete full featured computer. They get excellent medical, retirement, and so forth.

Having had a 34 year relationship with chrysler as an employee and as a union rep. I couldn't agree more with your assessment ofthe big three mgt. however, fairness would require making that assessment with all conditions for the big three and the foreign competition equal. as it stands the foreign competition is heavily subsidized by there gov'ts. and resticts their imports.
You guys shouldn't only laughing at the managements of these companies although they deserve that, but also look at how many jobs will be lost, and how many other jobs will be affected. Car industry employees buy from restaurants, stores, pay bills, and if they get nailed, all the rest will follow.
So bail them out, but in one condition: change the management.
Please don't insult curly moe and larry but comparing ford chrysler and gm to them. The three stooges atleast commanded much more respect than these 'big' 3.
Mr britethorn because you are a tax payer like me, you have the right to complain and criticize. However this 3 CEO's inherited the legacy problems this 3 companies had.
Now, something I most mention is that this FUCKIN politicians have no moral to talk down to this three man the way the do. These politicians are also responsible for all the trouble this country is in.
Politicians directly affect you.
The CEO's are really smart people a fucking 1000 times more than anyone else in the ROOM.
While I am not in pro a ANY bail out... How dare anyone there to talk down to them. Damn politicians, don't know shit about what is really happening though in big part they are responsible.
You are also insulting and you don't know aether. So since you are exercising your beautiful right, I decided to exercise mine too.
Many people are also in a bad situation because they over-expended, they bought things the couldn't afford (thank democrats). Besides, the problem is global.
I bought my place in Chicago and paid in Cash. I live in a high rise in Chicago and I don't own anything to anyone. I pay my taxes, work my ass off, give to charity, volunteer myself to help others. I finished my master ($120K paid) and I don't owe anything. If Anything, I SHOULD pissed off. I have never ask the government for anything at all.
I don't need a bail out, but insulting the three smartest people in the room is just wrong. Don't have any morals? Look who are the socialists.
Hey, I'm all in favor of helping Ford out. Maybe Chrysler--but GM killed their electric car project, then they killed Saturn, and went on an SUV binge. The car they say is going to save them (the Volt) is too expensive and too late.
No sir. GM did not kill the electric car. Even toyota had to kill it's electric car because it wasn't selling.
I could explain in more detail some other time, but I would have to send you a message. There are always 2 sides on every coin. You can't blame GM alone.
Politicians and the media have an strangle hold in people's necks. Besides, the actual CEO's are not responsible for what happened back when the electric cars failed.
By the way Mr britethorn. Everything I said is nothing personal against you or anything. It is just frustrating to see so many double standards.
I love politics too. That's why many of the things these politicians have also done, aggravates me.
I don't really mind loosing money as much as the time wasted. Money, we could always get it back, but never time. India and China are the future. Many countries can't complain about money because they don't have. Americans are being brainwashed.
I'll support a bailout only when I get my bailout first.
I have been paying my taxes ( a higher % of my pay than any of the big 3 boneheads ) and they, along with other corporations soon to follow asking for money too, aren't going to do any better till the American taxpayer gets a bailout. Nobody can afford to spend on cars and other big ticket items due to the mortgage mess, credit crunch, etc.
When I get my bailout $ ( & I don't need even 1/2 of a % of these guys ) I'll listen to them.
Shemp I'm okay with... But Curly Joe was awful. He even trash talked the stooges just before his death... Wait... this wasn't just about the stooges?... about something important?.... oh....
