I just recently found bed bugs in my home. They are only in the living room on the couch so far. My husband's cousin bought used bunk beds and got infested. She brought her kids to sleep over at my house (with their bags and blankets) to my house WITHOUT telling me she was infested. She for sure knew, in fact, the kids were here one of the weekends her home was being treated. I"m so mad, more than mad. To me, that's just so selfish and irresponsible of her. I would sue if it weren't family
@garciajennifer223 After research, here is my plan of attack. 1. Caulk everywhere there is a crack in the whole apartment (tough job). 2. Use my steamer on all furniture and carpet (high powdered steam). 3. Spray furniture/carpet with liquid bed bug killer spray. 4. Once dry, put down diatomaceous powder everywhere. 5. repeat every week for 6 weeks. Ugh, I'm in for a LOT of work. Again, I am so mad. I have already spent $150 I didn't have, between stuff and a new vacuum with a good hose.
@garciajennifer223 Oh yeah, I left out the part about bagging up all fabric that I won't be wearing anytime soon. And all pillows except 1 each. I'm also bagging/removing all clutter from the entire home in general. Spring cleaning times 10. Oh yeah, and the bugs can live for up to a whole year without feeding....which is why caulking all holes. I don't want them able to hid in the walls. Wish me luck!
@garciajennifer223 They can come from just about anywhere. I wish you luck in killing them off. Don't forget using the clothes dryer to kill them in clothes... high setting for at least 20 minutes.
Why don't you just get the Bedroom Plant (Snake Plant / Mother-in-law’s tongue), which gives off oxygen at night. So, when you sleep, it can throw off the bugs from detecting your carbon dioxide. I would do a three step process over a 7 day period: Day 1 - Kill Stage (Steam your furniture and box springs) Day 3) Kill Stage 2: Apply food grade diatomaceous earth in cracks/crevices Day 5.) Add lavender drops around reflected areas (repellent); Day 7 and beyond: observe!
@AnnNoire All plants give off oxygen at night... that's what all plants do. But it won't deter a bedbug at all. Oxygen is only a very small part of air and the bed bugs won't smell it, nor will it mask the CO2. As for the lavender, I don't believe the bedbugs will notice it at all and many people (including myself) can't stand strong smells. I can't be around anyone wearing perfume and can't stand the smell of strong soaps.
@DavidSIlvercloud Thanks for the information. But, I read "The Bedroom" or "Snake Plant" plant specifically gives off a lot of oxygen at night. You'll need 4-6. I'm sorry you're fragrance sensitive. I heard some essential oils are temporary repellents. (Those who can take it) And I did a lavender/mint essential oil drops around my bed, and left for hours. It repelled one for a month, and then one came back by transport.
@AnnNoire Looked the plant up. It is recommended for removing toxins from the air and doesn't need much water or light and it's pretty which makes it a good choice for a house plant.
but if it was my house that had them i would try to hunt them down with a bright flash light and magnifying glass.
ive done over 100 bed bug extermination services the most common place where ive found them is 1. boxspring 2.mattress 3 headboard/frame and have only a couple of times found them outside of these areas and that was behind a picture frame and ive done some real nasty ones even worse that what ive seen on t.v.
in addition if you have carpet lift up the edges and carefully inspect it. babys are super tiny but are visible to the naked eye. they look like shards of glass, they are clear but you can see them. spray every inch of the carpet and padding. now bring everything back into the room and set it up like before. if your worried that you might still have them you can find a local exterminator that has a dog that can sniff them out.
throw away everything that you can, especially picture frames. wash everything that can fit in the washer including curtains, dont bring any thing back into the room. throw away the box spring, mattress and bed frame. take all the furniture outside take it apart and spray every single little crevice, then wash it all down. if you have a good blow dryer you can go over the crevices to flush them out in addition to the spraying.
im an exterminator in west covina, ca. you can kill any insect or arachnid with raid if you make direct contact. the problem with bed bugs is they hid in deep cracks and crevices in box springs, picture frames, phones, clothes, any place. so its impossible to make direct contact with ones that are hiding deep in phone for example. forget the diatomaceous earth that wont work either. ill tell you what you can do if you have them in a bedroom:
@wil33577 You can DROWN them in raid... why waste the money? Water will drown the too. The poisons in RAID will have no affect on a bed bug... they are completely, and totally immune to the poisons in RAID. They can drink it and it will have absolutely no affect on them. I absolutely guarantee the only way RAID can kill a bed bug is if you drown them in it.
@wil33577 And... aside from that, the eggs can sit around for months and the eggs are not at all affected by RAID. Not even a tiny bit. This is a very serious bug and, again, I highly recommend getting PROFESSIONAL help. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will become to fight them. Bedbugs are a living nightmare.
where did you get your knowledge? its crap. especially about their affinity of blood types. and bedbugs can stay in hibernation for longer than six months.

Diatomaceous Earth is available at swimming pool supply stores, for use in some pool filters. Use a mask when spreading it , because it is a very fine powder that can easily get in your lungs. I put it in a plastic catchup squirt bottle. This works well to kill many insects. Mixed w/ boric acid it seams to be evan more effective. God Bless!

Well guys, I def. do have bedbugs... I saw the telltale signs...Now they do not come out at night when i leave my bedside lamp on...its just that i have to do this at my inconveienance...and i have spread baby powder along bed and the edges of my walls in my room..because i hear bedbugs get cut up from baby poweder.
ok, I went to 5 hardware stores(including Menards, Lowes, Home Depo etc)- NONE had it, finally i found a little "lawn and garden' shop, and they had it.. SO anyone ISO this stuff try the lawn and garden shops too. I got 4lbs for only $13. The guy says you can treat at least 8 full rooms with that much. thanks for the tip! Our school system, libraries, etc all have reported infestations. Everyone is terrified.
@repelghosts As regards furniture. If the infestation is really bad you may have to get rid of some of your furniture and maybe your bed. But SOME cities now have HEAT trucks. You have to ask around. A truck will come to your location and you can put your furniture in it and they heat it to over 140 degrees for at least a half hour. It might be cheaper than replacing furniture. And some heat trucks can heat your entire house and treat the house. Not useful for an apartment.
Thanks for your response. I know that already.. I dealing with a retard who stank thats probably why the bugs arn't on him. and my dad has now but, he said now he don't see now... I am sleeping with my lights on. I put the powder in jan and now its april....
@sharchessa That's unfortunate... sorry to hear that. Many people have suffered nervous breakdowns from bed bugs. As I said in the video, I recommend professional help and the diatomaceous earth is a last gasp treatment method for those who can't afford a professional who will have to come at least twice to be effective... maybe a half dozen times. These are horrible and very tough bugs.
@Daedalus294 Time to get out the flashlight. Look very carefully in your box spring for tiny dark brown dots (bugs or dried up blood). Look in the crevices of the edges of your mattress and check your pillows too. If you don't find anything, get some diatomaceous Earth, spread a little in some aluminum cupcake plates, and put one on each post of your bed and move the bed away from the wall until you are certain you are infected, or not.
@Daedalus294 sleep with you light one like I am doing and steam the carpets and take all the stuff off the walls and wash your stuff and keep them garbage bags.. Sleep w/ ur lights on until so they wont come on you
@sharchessa It definitely works but takes time. It MUST not be food grade nor the stuff used for swimming pools... but insecticide grade.
If you have a serious infection an entire building may be infected. You may have to throw out furniture, clothing and have all rugs steam cleaned or thrown out. You may need repeated professional help visits. It can be very expensive if the infestation has been allowed to grow.
@sharchessa I should mention I did say it MAY work but it does take time... this is not an overnight fix. If you have a bad infestation, or the bugs are in other apartments, you need professional help and the WHOLE building from top to bottom has to be treated.
I would like to introduce you to everything you need to know about Bed Bugs. Visit my site at: bitebackthosebedbugs, dot com, and find out EXACTLY what you need to do to solve your Bed Bug issue.
Ive got them im my semi truck. There are a million places for them to hide (cigarette lighters, climate vents, electronic panels, ect) in fact the sleeper berth is lined with riveted vinyl...which is countless crevices. This is my 3rd truck and they seem to be following me. A heat treatment will destroy the electronics, exterminators will not even bother with it because its a company truck. Im at a complete loss here. Will this D-earth dust work in here? Do I need to give up my career?
@Jsinner32 The d-earth should work but the effects take time and, like you said, a truck is a mine-field of crevices and cracks. I think I would try leaving the truck in a garage with the engine running... keep people out, and try to kill them off with carbon monoxide. Cold will not work as you may have discovered. If it's a company truck you may have rights which obligate your employer to help you out as it's a health and safety issue.
i have o+ bloodd and noone else in my house has them but for the last 2 months ive been slowly getting red bites on my hair line and ive just been very itchy, and been getting "maskito bites" but i know their not maskito bites, and its winter :P tell me how to get rid of them without letting my family know im 14 :(
@aleashasharman It does not sound like bed bugs. You may have head lice which can be treated with Lindane shampoo which you can get at a drug store. Ask the pharmacist. Any kind of parasite can be spread to the rest of your family. You will need to wash all bedding with hot soap and water too and any head wear like hats needs to be washed in hot soapy water too. It can also be scabbies. If you have a school nurse try that or try going to the local emergency department of a hospital.
@aleashasharman You need to have someone look at your scalp. I don't know what country you are in. In Canada the kid's help line is 1-800-668-6868 it's a free call. There is no shame in getting a parasite of any kind. You can get them anywhere. If you don't have a school nurse but go to church, ask your minister for help. Or tell your teacher at school of your problem and that you are afraid to tell your parents. Remember there is nothing to be ashamed of or to be scared of.
@aleashasharman If there is a branch of Covenant House in your city they may be able to help you as well. Look in the phone book or ask an operator. They are an organization that helps street kids. Don't keep it to yourself but try to find someone to have a look at your scalp. It could also be crabs which can be treated with the Lindane shampoo or Kwella shampoo. Don't get it in your eyes... follow the directions. And wash your bedding and clothes in hot soapy water.
@10989745999 It's unfortunate the professional treatment failed. Often that is because of lack of experience and not treating ALL clothing, removing all pictures from walls for treatment, and doing all the baseboards with treatment. It requires meticulous preparation for treatment and the treatment needs to be done twice. If that wasn't done you got ripped off. The treatment must be done twice and all clothing treated with heat or dry cleaning. They will never be gone if eggs remain.
@DavidSIlvercloud - yeah just today I went to a Hardware store and it had a specialised Bed Bug killing treater and fumigation package included, it did not contain D-earth but the man who worked there said they have had good feed back about it.
Got to google and type "NO bed bugs kiwicare new zealand" and see what i mean.
The spray was aparantly featured on the news abouts its usefull-ness.
I have not been biten lately but my poor flatmate from japan sure has.
@10989745999 Interesting looking product. I get the impression it is a New Zealand product. Canada has very strict controls of pesticides and it is not available here but if it works I expect the company could have a word wide demand for its product. Thanks for the info.
@MrsFooFoo Vacuuming will do nothing to stop bedbugs. You are dealing with an extraordinary bug. It can hide in very tiny crevices and does. They hide in electrical outlets, under drawers of cupboards, in the cracks of baseboards and cracks in floors, in light fixtures and picture frames. They can run very, very fast. Cold will not kill them, only heat (over 140 degrees). Normal pesticides (RAID) have NO effect on them. You should examine your mattress and box spring for them.
@MrsFooFoo The only non-professional insecticide that MAY work... you need to use lots of it in your bed and cracks and crevices, is diatomaceous earth... and NOT the food grade nor swimming pool grade stuff. Also treat ALL your clothes at high heat in a clothes dryer for half an hour. Dry cleaning will also kill them. Eggs can last for 6 months and the bugs can go without eating for months as well. This is one mean bug. Please check other references for what to do as well.
@MrsFooFoo If you can find a way to close off a room and heat it to about 145-150 degrees for at least an hour, you can kill them that way. This could be dangerous if you don't have the right kind of heat source. Some professionals have heat trucks to do this and also have heat trucks to treat your furniture and clothing. They put your clothes and small furniture in the truck and heat them at 150 degrees for about an hour. Heat (over 140 F) kills both bugs and eggs.
@DavidSIlvercloud Thank you so much for your advice!! I've checked and checked and had everything out and turned upside down and I haven't found ONE living, crawling bed bug, nor a dead one come to that. I think I've got them because I found three bites in a row on my chest the other morning and I know that's their pattern, however I've not seen any evidence of them!! I may have caught it early. Will get it sorted, thank you!!! :-)
@MrsFooFoo Might have been a spider bite. Bed bugs really like ankles and wrists. That is a really common place for them to bite because they have ability to detect the warm spots on your body where there is the least fat to penetrate.
Note to all: REMEMBER THIS. The bugs have to walk through the dust for it to work, so spread it around in bed crevices, along the edges of baseboards. Use a paint brush to spread it out. It isn't the most easy thing to apply in a thin layer. And remember, tell your landlord and consider professional help. Also put all your clothes through a clothes dryer at HIGH heat for 1/2 hour min then bag them in plastic/garbage bags. Consider using a hair dryer on high around the crevices of mattress
@TheVilmaKarina Once the powder is spread it is unlikely to bother a dog. The trick is spreading it around... best applied in crevices of a bed, along the edges of floor and walls and inside box springs. It tends to lump so a small soft paint brush helps in spreading it around thinly. It's just not a healthy thing for an animal or human to be breathing, so put doggy outside while spreading and wear a face mask when applying indoors. It will take a while for it to start having its effect.
@cjay75217 It may be anecdotal (not scientifically documented). It is definitely from MY experience. I know a couple where this situation happened (one with type A the other with type O... type A was bitten type O not). I have type A and was severely bitten while staying at a hostel about 8 years ago. Very painful experience waiting for the bites to heal. The bugs will bite anyone though if they are hungry. I'll check more into this and may post a better video on my ButchNews channel.
@cjay75217 I used to work part-time as a caretaker and a building got an infestation we caught early. 5 apartments were infected very rapidly. I asked everyone who was bitten what their blood type was. Only type A got bites. I asked because I was trying to confirm this data. Kinda like happy dogs wag tails to the right and distressed dogs wag tails to the left. I'm a nerd and like to investigate these kinds of things.
@RT038 Not sure what you mean by "itch mites" as there are hundreds of different kinds of mites. Mites are everywhere... you likely have hundreds in your pillows and seldom cause problems for anyone except those who suffer from breathing problems or severe skin problems. If you have never experienced beg bugs you have not yet experienced hell on Earth.
@y2knoproblem Food grade diatomaceous Earth may not work so well as stuff designed for use as insecticide but it is better than nothing. Check your hardware store for "green" insecticides with it in it.
My landlord said to me either pay half of the treatment, or he's not paying for anything. While I look for legal, public health, tenancy board help on the matter, I'll try this and other methods to at LEAST keep the biters away from me while I'm here.
@SwobyJ Leaving in a month so my highest priority is cleaning/purifying my items (throwing out mattress and couch when I leave) before I leave, but I need the landlord to realize that this is wrong and illegal. It will only get worse for this apartment and building if he doesn't do anything.
@SwobyJ You should report bedbugs and your landlord to the local health department. They may not do anything but it is important for cities to know how serious a bedbug problem they have. It is becoming a very, very serious problem in large cities.
@DavidSIlvercloud Yep I will. I seriously just spent the past day catching sleep curled up in a chair in the kitchen, but tomorrow will be spent contacting places, and going shopping for these items.
@DavidSIlvercloud Most "professionals" in my city will only use chemical sprays to treat bedbugs. Also most pest control companies I have talked to know very little about bed bugs. I imagine in bigger cities it would be easier to find a competant exterminator, however I live in a small city. The new thing is killing by heat. Very costly. Seems like people will have to do their own pest control and learn how to apply the DE.
@SwobyJ Just remember that diatomaceous earth will work to kill them, but it takes time to work... sometimes up to a couple of weeks, but it will eventually kill them. The eggs can live for up to a year so you have to throw out infested mattresses. Steam will kill them so you can try a steam iron up close to all cracks and crevices. You can put a saucer under each bed leg with diatomaceous earth in it so if any bugs try to get onto the bed they will have to walk through the stuff.
@DavidSIlvercloud I guess it doesn't matter much anymore. We're all moving out and leaving a bunch here. All the sublessors (just the three of us here for the summer) and those still on the lease are refusing to pay August rent. Public health coming this week.
He really should have just paid for the treatment was it was first discovered.
I have paranoid nights now and can't wait til I go :(

If you don't find anything, get some diatomaceous Earth, spread a little in some aluminum cupcake plates, and put one on each post of your bed and move the bed away from the wall until you are certain you are infected, or not.

@Daedalus294 sleep with you light one like I am doing and steam the carpets and take all the stuff off the walls and wash your stuff and keep them garbage bags.. Sleep w/ ur lights on until so they wont come on you

this powder does not work sorry...
sharchessa 1 year ago
@sharchessa It definitely works but takes time. It MUST not be food grade nor the stuff used for swimming pools... but insecticide grade.
If you have a serious infection an entire building may be infected. You may have to throw out furniture, clothing and have all rugs steam cleaned or thrown out. You may need repeated professional help visits. It can be very expensive if the infestation has been allowed to grow.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@sharchessa I should mention I did say it MAY work but it does take time... this is not an overnight fix. If you have a bad infestation, or the bugs are in other apartments, you need professional help and the WHOLE building from top to bottom has to be treated.
DavidSIlvercloud 11 months ago
@sharchessa I red that you can no use DE if it's moist or wet. It only works dry. You might have to use a multi-stage "kill war" on BB.

Jsinner32 1 year ago
@Jsinner32 The d-earth should work but the effects take time and, like you said, a truck is a mine-field of crevices and cracks. I think I would try leaving the truck in a garage with the engine running... keep people out, and try to kill them off with carbon monoxide. Cold will not work as you may have discovered. If it's a company truck you may have rights which obligate your employer to help you out as it's a health and safety issue.

i have o+ bloodd and noone else in my house has them but for the last 2 months ive been slowly getting red bites on my hair line and ive just been very itchy, and been getting "maskito bites" but i know their not maskito bites, and its winter :P tell me how to get rid of them without letting my family know im 14 :(
aleashasharman 1 year ago
@aleashasharman It does not sound like bed bugs. You may have head lice which can be treated with Lindane shampoo which you can get at a drug store. Ask the pharmacist. Any kind of parasite can be spread to the rest of your family. You will need to wash all bedding with hot soap and water too and any head wear like hats needs to be washed in hot soapy water too. It can also be scabbies. If you have a school nurse try that or try going to the local emergency department of a hospital.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@aleashasharman You need to have someone look at your scalp. I don't know what country you are in. In Canada the kid's help line is 1-800-668-6868 it's a free call. There is no shame in getting a parasite of any kind. You can get them anywhere. If you don't have a school nurse but go to church, ask your minister for help. Or tell your teacher at school of your problem and that you are afraid to tell your parents. Remember there is nothing to be ashamed of or to be scared of.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@aleashasharman If there is a branch of Covenant House in your city they may be able to help you as well. Look in the phone book or ask an operator. They are an organization that helps street kids. Don't keep it to yourself but try to find someone to have a look at your scalp. It could also be crabs which can be treated with the Lindane shampoo or Kwella shampoo. Don't get it in your eyes... follow the directions. And wash your bedding and clothes in hot soapy water.

A great way to repel bed bugs is with essential oils.
some websites repudiate this but it worked for me.
the prodessional we hired was useless the came out and bit me that night.
Oh im from New zealand and they are becomming a nightmare in NZ
we are so isolated we usauly dont have foreigh pest problems.
10989745999 1 year ago

I have O+ bllod acording tho
10989745999 1 year ago
@10989745999 Interesting looking product. I get the impression it is a New Zealand product. Canada has very strict controls of pesticides and it is not available here but if it works I expect the company could have a word wide demand for its product. Thanks for the info.

I know you say that only a professional will ensure eradication, but, if I vaccumed every day over and over the same areas, would that help?
MrsFooFoo 1 year ago
@MrsFooFoo Vacuuming will do nothing to stop bedbugs. You are dealing with an extraordinary bug. It can hide in very tiny crevices and does. They hide in electrical outlets, under drawers of cupboards, in the cracks of baseboards and cracks in floors, in light fixtures and picture frames. They can run very, very fast. Cold will not kill them, only heat (over 140 degrees). Normal pesticides (RAID) have NO effect on them. You should examine your mattress and box spring for them.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@MrsFooFoo The only non-professional insecticide that MAY work... you need to use lots of it in your bed and cracks and crevices, is diatomaceous earth... and NOT the food grade nor swimming pool grade stuff. Also treat ALL your clothes at high heat in a clothes dryer for half an hour. Dry cleaning will also kill them. Eggs can last for 6 months and the bugs can go without eating for months as well. This is one mean bug. Please check other references for what to do as well.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago

MrsFooFoo 1 year ago
@MrsFooFoo Might have been a spider bite. Bed bugs really like ankles and wrists. That is a really common place for them to bite because they have ability to detect the warm spots on your body where there is the least fat to penetrate.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
Note to all: REMEMBER THIS. The bugs have to walk through the dust for it to work, so spread it around in bed crevices, along the edges of baseboards. Use a paint brush to spread it out. It isn't the most easy thing to apply in a thin layer. And remember, tell your landlord and consider professional help. Also put all your clothes through a clothes dryer at HIGH heat for 1/2 hour min then bag them in plastic/garbage bags. Consider using a hair dryer on high around the crevices of mattress
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
will that insectocide affect my dog in anyway?
TheVilmaKarina 1 year ago
@TheVilmaKarina Once the powder is spread it is unlikely to bother a dog. The trick is spreading it around... best applied in crevices of a bed, along the edges of floor and walls and inside box springs. It tends to lump so a small soft paint brush helps in spreading it around thinly. It's just not a healthy thing for an animal or human to be breathing, so put doggy outside while spreading and wear a face mask when applying indoors. It will take a while for it to start having its effect.

can u cite any info about bed bugs preferring type A blood? I looked everywhere and signs pointed that it did not matter what type blood.
cjay75217 1 year ago
@cjay75217 It may be anecdotal (not scientifically documented). It is definitely from MY experience. I know a couple where this situation happened (one with type A the other with type O... type A was bitten type O not). I have type A and was severely bitten while staying at a hostel about 8 years ago. Very painful experience waiting for the bites to heal. The bugs will bite anyone though if they are hungry. I'll check more into this and may post a better video on my ButchNews channel.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@cjay75217 I used to work part-time as a caretaker and a building got an infestation we caught early. 5 apartments were infected very rapidly. I asked everyone who was bitten what their blood type was. Only type A got bites. I asked because I was trying to confirm this data. Kinda like happy dogs wag tails to the right and distressed dogs wag tails to the left. I'm a nerd and like to investigate these kinds of things.

how about itch mites there far worse than bed bugs
RT038 1 year ago
@RT038 Not sure what you mean by "itch mites" as there are hundreds of different kinds of mites. Mites are everywhere... you likely have hundreds in your pillows and seldom cause problems for anyone except those who suffer from breathing problems or severe skin problems. If you have never experienced beg bugs you have not yet experienced hell on Earth.

Diatomaceous Earth---Food Grade it is. Buying it now and buying an electric duster.
y2knoproblem 1 year ago
@y2knoproblem Food grade diatomaceous Earth may not work so well as stuff designed for use as insecticide but it is better than nothing. Check your hardware store for "green" insecticides with it in it.

My landlord said to me either pay half of the treatment, or he's not paying for anything. While I look for legal, public health, tenancy board help on the matter, I'll try this and other methods to at LEAST keep the biters away from me while I'm here.
SwobyJ 1 year ago
@SwobyJ Leaving in a month so my highest priority is cleaning/purifying my items (throwing out mattress and couch when I leave) before I leave, but I need the landlord to realize that this is wrong and illegal. It will only get worse for this apartment and building if he doesn't do anything.
SwobyJ 1 year ago
@SwobyJ Only someone who has lived with bedbugs will know what a nightmare it is and how hard it is to get rid of them.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@SwobyJ You should report bedbugs and your landlord to the local health department. They may not do anything but it is important for cities to know how serious a bedbug problem they have. It is becoming a very, very serious problem in large cities.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@DavidSIlvercloud Yep I will. I seriously just spent the past day catching sleep curled up in a chair in the kitchen, but tomorrow will be spent contacting places, and going shopping for these items.
SwobyJ 1 year ago
@DavidSIlvercloud Most "professionals" in my city will only use chemical sprays to treat bedbugs. Also most pest control companies I have talked to know very little about bed bugs. I imagine in bigger cities it would be easier to find a competant exterminator, however I live in a small city. The new thing is killing by heat. Very costly. Seems like people will have to do their own pest control and learn how to apply the DE.
y2knoproblem 1 year ago
@SwobyJ Just remember that diatomaceous earth will work to kill them, but it takes time to work... sometimes up to a couple of weeks, but it will eventually kill them. The eggs can live for up to a year so you have to throw out infested mattresses. Steam will kill them so you can try a steam iron up close to all cracks and crevices. You can put a saucer under each bed leg with diatomaceous earth in it so if any bugs try to get onto the bed they will have to walk through the stuff.
DavidSIlvercloud 1 year ago
@DavidSIlvercloud I guess it doesn't matter much anymore. We're all moving out and leaving a bunch here. All the sublessors (just the three of us here for the summer) and those still on the lease are refusing to pay August rent. Public health coming this week.
He really should have just paid for the treatment was it was first discovered.
I have paranoid nights now and can't wait til I go :(
