First of all those who says ARR copied IR please go and check" Simon Dupree and the Big Sound" album, then you can understand where did IR derive it from. ARR has accepted it that he got inspirations from IR,MSV but he never copies the same tunes in his songs. But HJ copies the tune, bgm, etc everything from ARR. What HJ does is Copying and not this.

For the movie Indian, he copied note per note the song of "I saw the sun and it opened up my eyes..." by ace of base. The only tamil music composer not a copy cat is Ilayaraja. His music is all about originality. Why do you think people are still listening to his evergreen old songs even today? It's because originality. Copied musics don't last long.

I find Ilaiyaraja a little unwilling to experiment. Same set of singers and musicians. Though the songs are good, you have a deja vu feeling. But ARRs songs are still fresh as he uses new talent and open to experimentation with instruments.
