  • whet a great tune so much power it should be bk on the set list:-)

  • Absolutely amazing performer, I've seen him live more times than i can count and i've never come away feeling he didnt do his best. A great musician who dont take crap from anyone (especially record companies)...I had'nt heard the neil young version untill after seeing Weller play it but this version just blows me away....Great Stuff

  • I was lucky enough to see him play this in 1994 at Wolverhampton civic Hall,it was and still is,one of the best gigs I have ever seen him perform, and I have thirty years of them to choose from! "ACE"

  • Paul Weller is a true artist .He still burns .

    regards

    jimmy

  • Why does he never play this anymore?

    Top Tune Too!!

  • @cherrypopma1 is delivery style has changed..he rarely strains it with that heavy soulful grunting he used to do

  • Totally agree. Seems to be quite within himself theses days. Not sure he really believes in what he's playing these days. In those days it was full on. Not any more. Maybe age is catching up on him.

  • 40 years to the day since the 'Hard Hat Riot' which followed the May 4th (1970) shooting & killing of four students at Kent State University in Ohio while protesting the Vietnam War and incursion into Cambodia.

Weller letter of credence to Neil Young.

    Excellent!

  • Fantastic performance.

  • i was lucky enough to be on the side of the stage watching this show....we had a sunset earlier and coupled with a big fat speckled dove pill i think i had the night of my life up to that point anyway!!!

  • ps not enough footage of this towering and mind mod blowing performance...

ps mod blowing sounds very filthy!

  • possibly weller at his solo peak this tour was some of my greatest weller moments ever...as for rocking out what the fuck is he supposed to do play a fuckin mandolin whilst sitting in a coffin!

go on son give it some weller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Paul Weller is The Man.

    "You Can Bury Me Mod!"

    Brilliant.

  • @asafan No self respecting Mod would use a modern word like 4ever! Although I guess the word mod derives from the word modernist so I guess Mods are bang up to date. Do I really care? not really! I'm here all week.......I'm so lonely!

  • He sounds like he's rocking out to the song, not mourning the four dead. It's a little disrespectful............

  • whadda load of shit uh?

  • my comment or the vid?

  • Shit Yeah " he´s rocking out to the song"

    ..it IS a ROCK SONG!

My Best Friend´s Mom was There At Kent State..so its´not disrepectful at all. keeps the meory ALIVE!

  • @rarelyzippo Never EVER question Weller's dedication to the words he is singing.

  • Ok. I don't really know anything about Weller I just don't like his version that much....

  • Weller channels Neil Neil Young, much like Weller, gives 200% to their respective music. The UK has Weller as an icon we have Neil. I love these men! Thank you for posting this.

  • What a great cover of a Neil Young song, and i agree neil would be proud, paul weller sings it with so much raw energy and its clear hes passionate about the song. I had heard a demo version on the deluxe edition of wild wood but lacked what this has and he forgot half the words etc. but this... is the dogs bollocks!! enjoy!

  • i was at this gig,i was totally immersed,it was fucking brilliant)

  • how young does steve craddock look?

  • 19? lol!

  • as much as i like paul's mellow stuff this is what got me into him...fire and skill

  • One his best ever gigs @ Glastonbury 1994 Totaly on Fire

  • A song about a sad event in American history covered by one of Englands greatest artistic exports of rock. One should actually read some of the literature about the event of Kent State."Flowers are better than bullets" Allison Krause

  • I can't believe how any Paul Weller fan can critiscise this cover, it absolutely ROCKS !

It is indeed Helen Turner on keyboards (re-whirlpoolzend comment).

I have this (aswell as Foot Of The Mountain) on a bootleg dvd and it's my fave Weller live, along with the set he did on the South Bank in 1997, promoting Heavy Soul.

I don't actually like the man, but I love his music.

  • Not his best cover ever.

  • i love paul weller.

BUT, He's totally ruined this song.

    something chronic.

  • matter of opinion really - I prefer the beef this has, as opposed to the drippie hippie feel of the original

  • yeh man!

  • bollox)

  • Simply brilliant!

  • I agree! Neil would be proud. Weller is the man, he gives 110%. What energy. Who is the female keyboard player?

  • I feel fairly sure it's Helen Turner on keys/organ ;-)

    But am open to challenge!

  • great tune and weller sounds great shame he didnt write the song

  • aint he better when he lets go and turns it up

  • Thanks for posting any more from Glatonbury?

  • wow

  • god!

  • woz there watchin weller for 1st time 94!!! didnt know who he was at 1st till me mate sed he was the jam!

  • Weller is god - simple as that

  • brilliant!
