The Brits and Italians had experimented with snorkels, the Brits in WW1. Nothing was new in the type XXI. The Allies had no need for such a sub at the time so never developed one

The Meteor was the first purpose designed, fully developed, jet plane. It never fell out the sky because its engines were garbage like the Me 262. The 262 was little more than a kamikaze plane as it killed a lot of its pilots. It also had a 1938 body intended for a propeller plane.
The Meteor flew operationally until the 1980s and still flys usefully today. The Czechs used the 262 for a year or so after WW2 with corrected engines - no one wanted to know it after WW2 it was so poor

@Y2MAC Leider existiert der Bunker nicht mehr. Er wurde 2003 gesprengt und ein Abstellplatz des Containerhafen wurde darüber gebaut. Ob die Holräume noch irgendwie die Sprengung überstanden haben ist fraglich. Die Boote die dort liegen sind U-2505, U-3004 und U-3506.

The Germans started that war with superiority in many areas, but it wasn't enough considering how many countries they attacked. The Germans never did produce and effective long range bomber. The US fought that war on 2 fronts with great oceans between both fronts. They still managed to put many bombers, tanks and men on the ground and in the skies over Germany and Japan.
Well the germans were perfectionists. Just look at the Tiger or Panther tank. No Allied tank was able to destroy it, while the Tiger could destroy them at far longer range. @JazzJaRa I've stood on a WW II Panther tank at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, I've also worked for a metal fabrication company owned by Germans, ran by Germans, with several German engineers. (some of them are quite probably ex-nazis) In many cases German weapons could defeat Allied weapons in a one on one battle. In the most important category, "ability to win the war" German weapons were far inferior. There simply wasn't enough of them to defeat the enemies the chose.

80 of the type XXI were built. Only 4 were ready for action in Jan 45 and only two ever put to sea, none scored a success.
The type XXI had mainly a more powerful electric motor and larger battery set, enabling under water operation for longer - also used snorkel which was copied from a Dutch sub captured in 1940. The Brits and Italians had experimented with snorkels, the Brits in WW1. Nothing was new in the type XXI. The Allies had no need for such a sub at the time so never developed one

England was being crushed, most of Europe had already fallen - the tipping point in the war didn't really come until the Americans and Soviets joined in - primarily after Hitler's biggest mistake - turning on Stallin at a critical moment in the war. Had they sided with the soviets...the US and England wouldnt have a chance in hell. He also could have won if he'd waited 5 more years.

It was NOT. It was trial raid - to get in and out in one day, not take Dieppe. The effects of the raid would be observed for D-Day, no matter what the outcome. The Brits had 100% air superiority. Some aspects were successful in that troops got in and out successfully, others never. The Allies were so strong they could afford to play with the German defenses.

German 262 jet was poor failing engines in a 1938 airframe designed for prop planes. Meteor superior - complete developed jet- still flying today.
Brits designed jet bombers and aircraft carriers to take jets - Canberra (Martin in USA) - still flying today.
Germans could not make a heavy bomber - tried and failed.
US subs were superb in Pacific, UK in Med. There was no Germany navy in Atlantic to fire at.

The Meteor was the first purpose designed, fully developed, jet plane. It never fell out the sky because its engines were garbage like the Me 262. The 262 was little more than a kamikaze plane as it killed a lot of its pilots. It also had a 1938 body intended for a propeller plane.
The Meteor flew operationally until the 1980s and still flys usefully today. The Czechs used the 262 for a year or so after WW2 with corrected engines - no one wanted to know it after WW2 it was so poor

The Vampire carrier jet plane (the first ever) was designed and flew in WW2. The Canberra bomber designed in WW2 - it flew so high and fast in the 1950s the Soviets could not catch it. The Brits were way ahead - they invented the jet engine - the Germans stole the patents

Poland... well that was just a mess. I would have sent a massive proportion of Royal Air Force and Royal Navy to just bomb the cites and coastlines of Germany and not let Hitler strike. Most German planes were pre-war designs - outdated. The me109 was continually updated because they never had a decent new plane. Outclassed all through WW2. At the end it was a joke. In aviation the Brits ouclassed the Germans

QCl was appalling. 118 built 95 were so bad they were not combat capable. Performed two war patrols and sank NOTHING.
High speed - sonar tracking easier as the noise increases exponentially.
At high speed passive sonar would detect propellor noise apart from anything else.
The ASW hunter killers in 1944 could hunt for as long as it took.
Snorkel was poor in rough Atlantic - having to surface for a long time to charge big battery set

@Y2MAC Leider existiert der Bunker nicht mehr. Er wurde 2003 gesprengt und ein Abstellplatz des Containerhafen wurde darüber gebaut. Ob die Holräume noch irgendwie die Sprengung überstanden haben ist fraglich. Die Boote die dort liegen sind U-2505, U-3004 und U-3506.

The Germans started that war with superiority in many areas, but it wasn't enough considering how many countries they attacked. The Germans never did produce and effective long range bomber. The US fought that war on 2 fronts with great oceans between both fronts. They still managed to put many bombers, tanks and men on the ground and in the skies over Germany and Japan.

Well the germans were perfectionists. Just look at the Tiger or Panther tank. No Allied tank was able to destroy it, while the Tiger could destroy them at far longer range. But it was hard to construct and never able to be build in mass production like the T-34 or M4 Sherman. Another thing the Bismarck or the Tirpitz. These both ships with air support. I don't wanna know what these Ships could have done.

@JazzJaRa I've stood on a WW II Panther tank at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, I've also worked for a metal fabrication company owned by Germans, ran by Germans, with several German engineers. (some of them are quite probably ex-nazis) In many cases German weapons could defeat Allied weapons in a one on one battle. In the most important category, "ability to win the war" German weapons were far inferior. There simply wasn't enough of them to defeat the enemies the chose.

Yes as i said, all these german Tanks and such things were never able to be build in high numbers. Also they wasted a lot of resources for experimental stuff like these railway guns or heavy Land Cruisers like the "P-1000 Ratte". 2 German railway guns, "Robert" and "Leopold" were captured by the allies after being "destroyed" by the Germans. They were put back together into 1 gun, shipped here on a Liberty ship and I seen it at Aberdeen also. Towards the end of the war, Hitlers OBSESSION with killing Jews cannot be overestimated. I've seen pics of German documents sidetracking German military trains so Jews could be sent to the ovens faster. Might have been his plan all along, not winning the war, exterminating Jews.

Whereas the nazis sat down in the Wannsee conference in early 1942 with the sole purpose to organize the extermination of jews and how to do that most efficiently during the middle of a war, Stalin never sat down with his cabinet and discussed how to exterminate Ukrainians or other people living in the Soviet Union. The methology and precious, not to mention nazi ideology, was what lead the the extermination camps, were people were exterminated just for being jews.

They defended it against totally hopeless odds because the town was a vital logistics hub which was particularly important to the Soviet Union. There was NO other option than to fight. If you've ever read one book about WW2 in your entire life you'd know 80% of all German casaulties in WW2 were on the Eastern Front.Then we haven't even included the hundreds of thousands of Italians, Romanians, Hungarians, Croatians,Cossacks, foreign volunteers from occupied countries
