it was good back then.....Nashville has zilch for talent now....old country is good, todays country music is about as sorry as that sickening rap crap, which is pure no talent noise for the no taste public
hI, i AM Grant Turner's daughter......you can find me on Facebook. Nancy Lee Turner Braun, and you will see photos of us together, and even when I was a baby.
Is there a way I can download this tape of the into to the televised birthday celebration? I have some of Papa's old tapes, and he narrates this one. I don't have it and would like to get a good recording. Thank you for your help:
@nancylee1953 Hey, thanks for your reply. The footage seen here came from one of my parents' TV recordings which aired in January of 1986. Unfortunately, this is all that was found related to Grand Ole Opry and typically I do not know what I will be posting as unlike the TV shows/movies/etc that the VHS may be titled after I don't know what commercials may lie in between.
As for downloading the vid, I am sure of many free programs that allow you to download a YouTube clip - FreeStudio Manager is what I use. Since the file on my computer is only 11 MB, I have e-mailed the clip to said e-mail address.
The KING of Country Music/& Grand Ole Opry-Roy Acuff, was a fixture to all America, for more than 6 decades. The "Queen Of Country" Kitty Wells, is still alive & kickin, she turned 91, on August 30, 2010, and his still married to husband, Country Music singer, Johnnie Wright,96, of Johnnie & Jack. Kitty & Johnnie, will be married 73 years, in October of 2010. Quite milestones, but never seen any recognition paid to them on the Media, in America.
Dolly Parton, Roy Acuff, LORETTA LYNN, Ricky Skaggs, Cuzzin' MINNEEEEEEEEEE PEEEEEEEEEEARL!, the whole Opry cast at end. Don't tell me you don't know all these people; you can't be serious!! Sad!! These were the legends, and they deserve to be played on today's radio!! Too many people today are missing out on some great, classic country music; this was when country was COUNTRY!! Hope this helps! :)
well remember this is something my Dad recorded unexpectly all the way back in January 1986 I never even heard of this until I uncovered the tape about 4 years ago - heck i wasn't even alive when this was recorded either and im not exactly from a rural area country music has never really been in my family
@dadsoldtapes You don't have to be from the Country to liek or listen or know about Country Music. No matter where I go in this world ever body knows about THE QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC LORETTA LYNN.
@dadsoldtapes Where in the world did you grow up that you didnt know these people. This is the archive of country music. I was in my crib when I remember hearing gpa and gma listening to this on sunday nite.
:D Ain't too late to discover the greats of country music; it just may grow on ya; it did me--and at the time I was nine (now almost forty nine!!); first country song I heard: "Coal Miner's Daughter" by Loretta Lynn. It was love at first sound! :) Thanks for writing; nice to hear from y'all! :D

I first listened to the Opry in 1934. I loved it until now, this modern music is noise and no music, sorry Nashville you,ve damaged Country Music.

Do I happen to spot Tammy Wynette in it too? Country music has such a profound influence on me and I just cannot express how much this means to me.

Wow, this is neat. Only 22 years ago. What's sad is that many of these legends are no longer with us.
