@bucjason, guitarist put blankets over their amps to make them quieter. You place a mic under the blanket so it picks up full sound, but the amp itself has less effect on the total sound you hear. All you hear is the speakers, preserving the integrity of the "mix". That way they can hear exactly what they want through the monitors. Although im not sure if thats why he did it.
He had already written the song before the Cologne video shoot, and the next day they were shooting the live songs for the album dvd. He's definitely joking around.
Hard to believe, the lyrics sounded like they were ad-libbed, mostly because they don't rhyme. But still, I am amazed how skilled this man is that he can write a song like this in his spare time and release it the next day.
Yeah, he's kidding. These are the lyrics from the album exactly. He is amazing though. And this video was only posted about a month ago and this album's been out for 6 months or so.
Actually, he did change the last verse from "It's all coming back, as she's reading old letters that she'd hid in the closet, with the pictures she cherished that she kept to herself, for a good thirty years." to "It's back on her mind, as she's reading old letters, that she'd hid in the closet, with the pictures she'd cherished, that she never showed a soul, for the last 30 years."
How did he get Tyrol from Battlestar Galactica to play bass?

Have any of you actually been to a Ben Folds concert before? He makes shit up all the time. More than half of it sounds like actual produced work.

I love how people think he really made that up on the fly. xD He's exceptionally talented, but that's just a bit out there!

Along with Hiroshima and Cologne.

Isn't it nice that he loves his piano so much that he puts a blanket over it to keep it warm? :)
