Firstly the composition is great and conducted deftly by George Solti. This piece of music creates a vivid picture of the Dance as if actually viewed by the listener.

Couldn't stop shedding tears as I listened to the very beginning part. Bartók is absolutely not to mention a genius composer. Performance itself was also great.
Someone asked which orchestra this is. I'm pretty sure that the venue is the Musikvereinssaal in Vienna, with those caryatids and the low red balconies. Since there is no woman to be found in the orchestra it could well be the Wiener Philharmoniker -- they hired their first woman in '97 (the year Solti died, by the way).
myyyyy goodness this is the first time I've heard this not played as a student violin solo (the entire picolo bit is done with wierd artificial harmonics) here i went through life thinking bartok went through an emotional trauma or something that made him temporarily an idiot while writing this piece
I may seem ignorant honey, but I am not. Perhaps you ought to just have a tiny consideration that all of us are not typing wizards nor really care siince this is utube, and is not needing my proffesional level of scrutiny. For someome classifingy me as ignorant, you should try expanding your vocabulary. Mothref***er is not used by classy people, but by slime we call trolls. Grow up hon.
A most pleasing performance by maestro Georg Solti, indeed. Upon my first hearing of these dances, several of these pieces reminded me of several of Edvard Grieg's pieces, such as "Anitra's Dance" from "Peer Gynt Suite no 1," and his "Norwegian Folk Songs and Dances." And I liked how through movements VI and VII he stirred up energy into the chamber orchestra. A highly spirited performance!

I love these so much! My Uni orchestra did the Romanian Dances last year and it's so moving to play. Thank you so much for posting this professional version! My favourite is movement 4! :O But then again it depends what mood I'm in when I'm listening to them ;) Each movement has it's own character! :o
I played it in my youth symphony too a few years ago. We skipped the second and third movements though. I think it was because all of the experienced wind players were doing marching band that semester.
awesome video

aSome people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very tiny sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “autumntree2011” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.

I've been wondering why the 4th Dance doesn't use the horn. Its name is Horn Dance after all.

The tomb of Maestro Solti is next to Bartók's one in Budapest at the Farkasréti cemetery.
It was Solti's wish to be buried next to Bartók.
The hungarian genius was the teacher of the great conductor.
