To put this much faith in ANY US president is politically niave. Sorry. Obama represents corporate America. The US is a one party state with two right wing factions. People are still dying and will continue to die under the US jackboot no matter the skin colour of its president.
i have watched you perform brother,i think your a sincere brother, but i recommend that you research deeper .keep learning, don't get caught up in the world.
Obama is a bankers pet. Watch The Obama Deception. We all got fooled into believing he was legit. The farthest thing from a old white guy is a black and relatively younger dude. President is just a face. There are inner workings and special interests that dictate everything. Obama is just another scheme. He was brought in to make everyoen go along with everything bad thats about to come.
I tell you what, there is racism all over the world.
I am German and my father is an American.
I am mixed with black and white colour.
they called me warbaby.
I wasn`t accepted by the black and not by the white people. In everything i was used to be much better as the other. Better wasn`t good enough. At the end i believed that i am not good enough.
And i am so proud that a black man is President for the USA.
I said this was thime i waited a long long time for.
I Like you brother! Ive met alotta arrogants so called celebs but brother you are the most humble brother thats Ive ever met! I came backstage at one of your concerts and you was the only brother that said whasup and asked me dids I enjoy the show!
There is soo much racism in this country and im not talking about jokes and tv i mean go to like appalachia and they have like kkk signs every were. and i dj and play bass im white but i am half jewish and i play some arabic instruments and this kid i used to know called me terrorist boy. and your name i am sure you have been judged about your name. and also if you would reply that would be auwsome!
dont you think its abit wrong that people were voting for him BECAUSE!!! hes black surely thats wrong chosing somone because of the colour of his skin ... if a whiteman had the same views and policys would you still be so enthusiastic ?
thoes tears are years of shame that the african american and even AMERICA has felt from the deprived nature of our government. its hard to be black today people think you no good thug hood niggas but this has proved that we are more then that you feel? but remember obama is mixed racial so he proves that there are a tie connected within our hearts that says we all human and that we are all similar and but there is still a deprived of some freedoms like gay marriage but this is a leap forword
Many in power think hope is overrated in these times. I feel you on the "happy feelings" though. It's been a while since I've felt good about our choice for leadership in our country. I still think the ultimate hope lies in our Creator and Obama's ability and willingness to allow His influence to effect the way he governs this country.
Voted for Obama NOT because he was biracial, i.e., amending the sins of my fathers, but because I agreed with him on the issues. That's the whole point, isn't it?
5:59 "White people you're not off the hook just because you voted for a black man"
Hey ?uestlove: I'm white. I voted for Obama. I was born in 1984, so I ain't 'on the hook' for slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, or whatever else people who have the same skin color as me do, or have done. I won't (and don't) judge you for what other African-Americans do, so don't lump me in with white racists.
it's funny...you just described a lot of the thoughts i had Nov. 4th. at the same time, ideas i found hard to express seemed to give you pause too. thanks for sharing.
Great commentary ?uest! You are so right about us all doing our part to take advantage of this moment. We should all view Obama's victory as a call to service, community service in particular. As you said, this is not the end, only the beginning - but it's a great start! Everyone reading this (especially my frat brothers of KAPsi and other Greeks), please join a community org, volunteer, mentor, take living green seriously, make Obama's victory really mean something!
President Barack Obama's lost one of his grandmothers, Madelyn Dunham (age 86), Sunday Nov 2nd,2008. President Barack Obama is so fortunate to have another grandmother Sarah Obama, she has lived to see his election, and she will attend his inauguration ceremony. I love this video you made. I wish your future children a beautiful education. I think you will be a great father.
The moment your video started I instantly sensed your beauty, please forgive "white people". Let's say "everything believed" about white culture is "absolutely true", it does no one good to hold that bitter pill inside. If you are not sure how to forgive, just ask (any) God to wash your pain away. You deserve this experience. OhHappyDay!!!!
just like to point out that those who voted for McCain cause of abortion are foolish... only in 2006 did he SUDDENLY become pro-life. He had been a pro-choice guy for most of his life.

No. We white people are not off the hook. I'm not aware of any celebatory event where we have claimed that. But it is a stepping stone. I for one believe that the true colors of the majority of America did shine through Nov. 4th. Quest it always hurts to hear you bash white people, particularly your white fans, for being an evil race. Believe me I have heard you speak and read the synopsis of your songs on the albums. Can we eventually come together in harmony? My belief is YES WE CAN!!!
I am so proud of my country - not due to the fact that we elected a man BECAUSE he was black but because we elected a man AND he was black. What a great testament to how far we've come...yeah, we have a lot of struggles ahead, but the tide is changing...the "old ways" are becoming just that...old ways. Much of the racism in America is dying out wiht those people who were around during the time when it was generated.
My RESPECT to you,my brother human being and fellow American Citizen. Speaking as a 49 year old white disabled man (and music artist) who also cried many tears for our country and the globe for this precious CHANCE we have been given, may I gently suggest that your concepts of "white people" might possibly benefit from some broadening. Peace, love and recognition to you- Timothy
"because normally for black people it felt like the limit is the sky". God Bless You. That was some serious eloquentness. I know that's not a word. :)
I think the way this will be different from the Clinton era is that, in reading Barack's plan and listening to his acceptance speech, he truly intends that we ALL actually *work* together for change.
I really hope you have a gf/wife because the fact that you quoted Stevie Wonder - loved it. I believe we'll hold Obama accountable, as he will us.
Quest I hope you see that the whole world is celebrating with the US. Even if you weren't in Chicago, even if you weren't in the US that night just watching it through the TV everyone felt it. Tears of happiness... all with you, peace
Im feeling the love Quest! I'm so excited about this time in the world, the sky is the limit.
Just a side note, Barack doesn't only bring hope to african-americans but PEOPLE in general. Were in this together is all im saying, this is good for ALL of humanity.
yo ?uest: i appreciate your profound and evenheaded reaction to the election's outcome. you're absolutely right when you say this is not the end, that this is just the beginning. just as we have to hold obama to his word, you guys have to keep the fuel on the righteous fire you've been burning during the Bush years (when you've cut your best records). please keep up the good work, my friend!
quest, you've always been an inspiration to me, way before obama. the professional and creative and loving work you do,... the community you represent, you are one of the most respected people in music. regardless of race.
You are so right with what people lost years ago. I was emotional as well. This is amazing and so historic. Thankful to be alive to see this. More work to be done. But yes the limits of our future are now limitless. Still overwhelmed with emotion right now.
Wise words from one of the most intelligent men in the music buisness...Thanks for giving me your insight and cultural perspective on this great victory. I'm so happy for you and hope it brings a new unity to America. PAT (White, middle class? Drummer, Music lover...).
i'm glad you did take time out to do this. you are too right about those who passed b4 this happen. I myself know of 6 elderly people that died b4 5pm eastern time. it was crazy. you always right though quest.
this is what i've been telling people. just because Obama won doesn't mean that things will automatically change or, that we can just sit back and celebrate and forget about our problems. we still have a ways to go until things are back on the right path. it may take time but, i think that we have the best candidate to give us the best chance at changing a lot of what's wrong with this country. i'm happy that Obama won. this whole night seems surreal. i can't even begin to explain my emotions.
I hope people don't get apathetic. The reason why Bush was able to get elected twice because our 18-25 year olds, and minorities was apathetic to the political process.
I hope now they do become more involved with their communities and their well-being. I hope that Barack's presidency proved that all blacks can endure the American dream.
Being a 20 year old white male, this is my proudest moment as an American in my life. To read history books and see that less than 150 years ago black people were slaves here and now a black man has rose to the highest position in the greatest country in the world. The world's view of America has changed drastically in a positive direction. I just hope that Obama can do the things he said, if so America will be a great place to live.
I wish Bernie Mac could have been here, Richard Pryor, James Brown...gee. So many people missed out on this day in History. Rest in Peace to all those who paved the way and missed out. R.I.P. to Skye Lee.
It is just the beginning. It's great he won, but he has so much on his plate. A messed up economy, wars in the middle east, education to fix, health care problems. No president has had so much to over come. I hope he works hard to bring us back on track. Congrats to Obama!
