Compared to the size of the Wehrmacht and SchutStaffel, they didnt have much artillery. That was because Germany had developed a new style of warfare; Blitzkrieg. Germany replaced its artillery with Stukas, fighter planes and heavy tanks. First Stukas softened their enemy with their terrifying dive bombings and then heavy tanks and mobilized infantry crushed the enemy. This was disadvantageous at the defencive part of the war, because artillery would've been more appropriate for defence.
