@BronzeBullBalls who the f*ck are you? The Mafia authority? Do you know any made guys and are you even paesan? You think just because you watched some mob flix on tv that you know everything about LCN? You are saying Bobby would beat Paulie because Bobby sucker punched Tony (while he was drunk) at the lakehouse. You sound stupid and ignorant kid! If you were a real paesan from the old neighborhood, you would know Paulie is the most stand up gangster in the show. Go sh*t in your hat kid!
It's great how many non-Italians love the show but a real paesan needs to explain the truth:
1) Paulie may be smaller than Bobby but Paulie has the MOST HITS ON HIS BELT than any character (except Richie and Feech). Paulie served HARD TIME and was a gangster since he was a teenager. Bobby made his bones by taking care of Uncle Junior. Bobby is big but a pussy in reality--NO CONTEST WHATSOEVER
2) "Cozzarellis" means "made guys from NYC". Paulie knows the capability of the NYC families.
@vfazz Fact: Most gangsters are not that good with their hands or guns. You don't have to be a marksman to shoot someone behind the head... most mob shootings are done execution style with the victim having no idea what is coming. Most gangsters are not UFC champions either... they use weapons and cheap shots and usually gang up on people. What do hits have to do with a fist fight? Bobby took out Tony before this...
@vfazz Actually Cozzarellis is the funeral parlor in the show. Paulie meant that there would be a line of hearses. Also we never saw Richie or Feech kill anyone. And when you make your bones, you kill someone. Hence the word bones. One more thing, stop saying paisan. I take it your family has been in America for quite sometime and Little Italy has like no Italians in it anymore.
I hated Paulie. I would have loved for Bobby or Christopher to whack him (or, at least, rough him up).
Speaking of Chris, I would have liked to have seen how he would have fit in with the NYC war storyline. Not knowing reminds me of 'Scarface' b/c I've always been curious what Manny would have done when the hit squad attacked.
@jksonny Paulie is actually great. Better than Chris even. If you can't figure that out then you need some serious help. But, Hey! We all have our own opinions, right?
As nuch as a lunatic Paulie was, he think he was he was way more aware the severity of the situation of going to war with NY, even though the wheels were already in motion on NY's end
@BLeSSeDoGkUSH420 I don't think it's just automatic that you will become boss if you are around long enough. You have to want it, and it can often be a bloody struggle, as we see between Little Carmine and Johnny Sac. Paulie wouldn't have been a good boss anyway, he's too much of a hothead.
@charliefrye098 Hothead has nothing to do with it. Tony was as big as a hothead as anyone. Maybe Paulie lacked some other intangibles but it's not because he was a hothead.
@GOODY61 Yeah, it's probably more of the political side of it; not stepping on people's toes. Tony seems to be better with people than Paulie is; he's too peculiar.
I heard that all the regular cast members of The Sopranos agreed to come back to make a movie except for James Gandolfini. No idea why, but it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to do anything Sopranos-related (game, series, movie, etc.) without having the #1 main character. The show is his namesake, even.
That's because guys like Sirico have nothing else going for them in terms of movie offers or TV offers. Sirico is like a one-type cast guy...you can't picture him in any other role but playing a gangster. A Sopranos movie would suck because all the characters are older, fatter and look horrible. They can't do a prequel and the last episode is over.
@maddingo12 As always, I mostly agree with you. The show couldn't have continued effectively in chronological order..
A prequel would be INCREDIBLE, though. I'd love to see a lot more of Johnny Boy, as well as Tony's rise; bear in mind that Tony was already well on his way to being boss before the series even got started.
@maddingo12 But you aint half the man Tony Sirico is. This guy could be 87 & still whoop your ass on a bad day. The difference between you & him is simple ; He's the real deal gangsta, you & your homeys? Pretend to be gangstas. Without fellas like Sirico who would you have to copy? Get yaself a pen & paper, school is in session mutha fucka.
@Tomas11381 Gandolfini is supposed to be a real big-hearted liberal type. He wanted the show to end b/c he was disturbed by the antics. I doubt he would agree to anything other than voice acting for a video game.
i like in the christmas episode of season 3 paulie got up in bobbys face when he said he didnt want to be santa claus and now that hes high ranking bobbys like i aint taking this shit no more
@kanguesso theres rumors but its highly unlikely for several reasons. any movie would either spoil the last episode ending, or be a prequel and therefore not show all the characters that make the show so great. also, some of the actors have moved on and might not come back for a sopranos movie. its possible, but unlikely

paulie is the official underboss of the family ...bobby was acting underboss ...once tony killed christopher he grooms bobby to takeover the family...he is presented in high level meetings as a powerful capo ..never named offical underboss...paulie keeps that title and has authority over bobby in name..however...its obvious tony saw bobby as the successor and held him to a high standard before his death..bobby attended high level meetings and paulie did not..but once again..paulie is higher up
i love how,in the time it took for bobby to egt up from a half-standing position, paulie was able to get up from sitting down, and get up into bobbys shit from like 4 feet away
u have ur own opinion, but i think paulie would have murdered bobby. paulie is quicker wyhen hes mad(as he jumps up in bobbys face ready to fight) and was a boxing champ in the (army). bobby could land some heavy blows, but hes sloppy, whereas paulies speed, combined with (not as powerful as bobby) punches, paulie would win. i believe though that with what it would take to put bacala down, it might kill paulie with his age.
but they were drunk, tony was only busting balls -not expecting a reaction, and didnt see it coming.
if it was an organized fight with rounds, etc. tony would have won because he has a much stronger inner evil. bobby was also "defending" his wife janice
@williamrafe1 lol how did tony not see it coming? he insulted janice repeatedly and bobbie warned him...then tony did it again...i think that any human with a brain would expect to get snuffed in the fact after repeatedly disrespecting another man's wife while a guest in that man's house
and lol @ "organized fight"..come on, dude...those fat fucks couldn't last more than 20 seconds in an organized fight..."rounds" my ass
@MurphGiovanni whatever...you obviously dont know what busting chops means, as i bust my sisters chops alot, and i still love her, and her husband would know better than to hit me, having survived being her boyfriend to the point of marriage, he would be grateful.
@MurphGiovanni yeah wiseguys arent about fitness or fighting fair, if its choice between fight the fuck for minutes on end and possibly lose or just a quick pop with a .22 and walk away a wiseguy will take the latter any day of the week
@MurphGiovanni It doesn't matter because Tony's the boss and Bobby is a idiot for laying his hands on him no matter what he said. If he wasn't so close with Tony, he would probably end up worse than having to whack some guy (not that that isn't bad enough).
@EazyMothafuckingE yeah...now that i think about it...i was kind of looking at this shit from just a normal perspective...but you're right, in the mafia perspective, bobby was out of line for doing that shit, since as the boss tony pretty much can say or do whatever he wants around his crew without any kind of retaliation
but to be fair, tony broke a lot of mob rules, too, that even a boss has to follow
tONY HEALTHY WOULD FUCK BOBBY UP BAD BUT HE WAS NO PUSSY LIKE HIS DEMENOR WOULD SEEM TO INDICATE I THINK THIS SCENE WAS MEANT TO SHOW HIS CHANGE FROM JUNIORS CHAMBER MAID TO WHAT HE REALLY WAS A NICE GUY BUT STILL A KILLER AND STILL OVER 400 POUNDS. SO YOU DO THE MATH.
"by the skin of my balls" is a real reference to Tony Sirico who plays Paulie as a real life gangster. he got arrested in 67 for robbing a brooklyn night club. and then again in 71. served prison time on and off for years. WHEN THE MUSIC'S OVER ~the doors kinda cool they put it in the last episode or was it the 2nd to the last episode......ah i miss this show so so much! WE NEED A MOVIE!!!!!!!
@milhousezchick Yup, you are absolutely right. Paulie was a real Colombo family soldier and really meant what he said in this scene about living by the "skin of his balls" when the Colombos were going at it. If you ever saw Donnie Brasco, that is how the Colombo war started when Carmine Galante got hit and Sonny Black took on Sonny Red and his crew for the top spot. You know your facts.
@RealAmericanHero420 sorry partner wrong family that was the bonanno crime family but he was apart of the colombo family i think as an associate not a soildier.
@blackwolverine1 Oh Shit, I totally knew that too. Galante was boss of the Bonnanos...what was I thinking. Thanks for correcting me. I really know alot about the history of La Cosa Nostra and totally knew that...also saw Donnie Brasco about a hundred times. Thanks for pointing that out man.
@stickywickedy: Yes, he was a low level associate with the columbo Crime family in the 60's and 70's...He was arrested 28 times...This clip makes reference to his past
"I lived through the seventies by the skin of my nuts when the Colombos were goin' at it."
wow interesting.. I wonder if he was correlating cozerelli line a mile long by tony getting whacked in the end by the "next in line" guy. since phil did get whacked
paulies always up on his feet into a fight before anyone else. all bobby had to do was take a step, while paulie had to get uip and take a few steps over, and he still gotn there first. lol
Bobby vs. Paulie would be a pretty even and good fight just like Tony vs. Bobby was. All 3 could throw down. Bobby got promoted because he was loyal to The Sopranos and brother and law and lack of better options really when you think about it. In the end Tony only ended up with Paulie out of it all. Maybe Sil if he comes out of coma.
Not to insult Paulie fans, but Bobby would have torn Paulie into tiny little annoying pieces. Yeah, Bobby is nice most of the time, but if you really piss him off, he will end you.
too bad that wasn't a fight. that would have been kick ass--I think Paulie would've won by pulling some cheap ass move like biting Bobby's ballsack off and shovin em down Sil's throat. Imagine dying chocking on a ballsack, lol.
How come earlier in the series when Chris got made Paulie was at the front of the room with Tony, and telling Bobby to "hurry it up over there" when he was dimming the lights for the ceramony and now Paulie is taking orders from Bobby???
Being involved with Janice wasn't the reason Bobby got promoted, it was his loyalty to Junior all those years as well as the family in general. You remember Richie Aprile was also engaged to Janice and yet they had a hit out on him which ended when Janice herself killed Jackie. A common thread throughout the show was Tony Soprano never fully trusted any of his crew, even Sil's loyalty was questioned around the incident involving the Johnny Sack Wife's ass comment
@ohwell121 - Very true, in fact when Bobby asked for more 'time on the street and responsibility', Tony's response after one argument with Janice was, "you want more responsibility, start by controlling your wife"
but tony was ill after being shot, correct me if i'm wrong. Paulie is my favourite character same with Bobby but theres something about Paulie where I can see him beating the crap out of christopher and bobby if a fight broke down. The writter of the show would have to let paulie win, hes character is so bad ass
I agree with you, Although Paulie is Tough, and crafty, Baccala is Big , and Thick as a Brick Wall . Tony's fight with him at the Place upstate was a fair fight(even though he believed he was drunk,a nd the carpet slipped out from underneath him(excuses) T's new nick name from that episode should be called Monopoly Hotel stuck to my face man
@scarface3131983 bobby beat up tony cuz bobby was defending his woman and tony didnt see it coming...notice how in the time it took for bobby to sit up, paulie was already on his feet, and in bobby's face. i think paulie would win, but he would take an ass woopin, and prob die or be hospitalized for heart problems
there's no way tony sirico could have become an actor if he was a made guy. he would be gunned down for sure for bringing the mob into the spotlight. stilllll a badass cocksucka!
i really wanted 2 see Bobby kick Paulie's ass dont get me wrong Paulie is one of my favorite charactes but throughout da seasons 4,5,and 6 he was such an asshole im surprised he didnt die and Chrissy, and Bobby. Eventhough Tony thought about killing Paulie i think he should have acted on it cuz Paulie was playing both sides until he found out Johnny Sack didnt tell Carmine about him
I agree. I would have loved to see Bobby mop the floor with Paulie. But I never liked Paulie's character. He was always whining about one thing or another. I had hoped Christopher would get a chance to blow him away.
and Bobby could do it. He fucking beat Tony in a fair fight. And Tony's a fucking Bull! Paulie is like the malevolent Keith Richards of this series. He's the last member of the crew standing with T at the end. Like Keith, he'll outlive cockroaches after a nuclear holocaust.
True. One of the great, intriguing things about the show is that all the characters are "bad guys" and the audience chooses which of them are "bad-bad guys" and which are "good-bad guys." And there's even multiple layers to that. Paulie, in IMO, is a bad-bad guy but he's a member of the good-bad guys. So, against a bad-bad-guy like Phil, Paulie would become a good-bad-bad guy.
@BronzeBullBalls who the f*ck are you? The Mafia authority? Do you know any made guys and are you even paesan? You think just because you watched some mob flix on tv that you know everything about LCN? @MurphGiovanni It doesn't matter because Tony's the boss and Bobby is a idiot for laying his hands on him no matter what he said. If he wasn't so close with Tony, he would probably end up worse than having to whack some guy (not that that isn't bad enough).
EazyMothafuckingE 1 year ago
@EazyMothafuckingE yeah...now that i think about it...i was kind of looking at this shit from just a normal perspective...but you're right, in the mafia perspective, bobby was out of line for doing that shit, since as the boss tony pretty much can say or do whatever he wants around his crew without any kind of retaliation
but to be fair, tony broke a lot of mob rules, too, that even a boss has to follow
MurphGiovanni 1 year ago
tONY HEALTHY WOULD FUCK BOBBY UP BAD BUT HE WAS NO PUSSY LIKE HIS DEMENOR WOULD SEEM TO INDICATE I THINK THIS SCENE WAS MEANT TO SHOW HIS CHANGE FROM JUNIORS CHAMBER MAID TO WHAT HE REALLY WAS A NICE GUY BUT STILL A KILLER AND STILL OVER 400 POUNDS.

WE NEED A MOVIE!!!!!!!
milhousezchick 2 years ago 39
@milhousezchick Yup, you are absolutely right. Paulie was a real Colombo family soldier and really meant what he said in this scene about living by the "skin of his balls" when the Colombos were going at it. If you ever saw Donnie Brasco, that is how the Colombo war started when Carmine Galante got hit and Sonny Black took on Sonny Red and his crew for the top spot. You know your facts.
RealAmericanHero420 1 year ago
@RealAmericanHero420 sorry partner wrong family that was the bonanno crime family but he was apart of the colombo family i think as an associate not a soildier.
blackwolverine1 1 year ago
@blackwolverine1 Oh Shit, I totally knew that too. Galante was boss of the Bonnanos...what was I thinking. Thanks for correcting me. I really know alot about the history of La Cosa Nostra and totally knew that...also saw Donnie Brasco about a hundred times. Thanks for pointing that out man.

And i heard he was connected with the Colombo family too?
stickywickedy 1 year ago
@stickywickedy: Yes, he was a low level associate with the columbo Crime family in the 60's and 70's...He was arrested 28 times...This clip makes reference to his past

paulies always up on his feet into a fight before anyone else. all bobby had to do was take a step, while paulie had to get uip and take a few steps over, and he still gotn there first. lol

williamrafe1 2 years ago

Yeah, Bobby is nice most of the time, but if you really piss him off, he will end you.
superbad1500 2 years ago
I don't blame Paulie for saying that to Bobby, I wouldn't like to take orders from someone who was Junior Sopranos driver not so long ago.
shanebrennan0123 2 years ago
too bad that wasn't a fight. that would have been kick ass--I think Paulie would've won by pulling some cheap ass move like biting Bobby's ballsack off and shovin em down Sil's throat. Imagine dying chocking on a ballsack, lol.

...wtf?

I'm just writing random things to shake things up.. btw people tony caused bobby a lot of pain in the fight, it wasn't a total ass-whooping.

Even totally hammered and wobbly Bobby beat the sh1t outta Tony without a scratch.
Chris hasn't got any muscles. He was a total pussy. Paulie didn't beat up anybody impressive.
Bobby woulda ripped Paulie into little pieces.

How come earlier in the series when Chris got made Paulie was at the front of the room with Tony, and telling Bobby to "hurry it up over there" when he was dimming the lights for the ceramony and now Paulie is taking orders from Bobby???
netefrog 2 years ago
Bobby married Janice (Tonys sister.) Family ties, I guess it got him promoted
pulpfiction67 2 years ago
Being involved with Janice wasn't the reason Bobby got promoted, it was his loyalty to Junior all those years as well as the family in general. You remember Richie Aprile was also engaged to Janice and yet they had a hit out on him which ended when Janice herself killed Jackie. A common thread throughout the show was Tony Soprano never fully trusted any of his crew, even Sil's loyalty was questioned around the incident involving the Johnny Sack Wife's ass comment
furb393 2 years ago
in fact it held him back, tony liked to frustrate janice and one way of doing that was holding back her husband
ohwell121 2 years ago
@ohwell121 - Very true, in fact when Bobby asked for more 'time on the street and responsibility', Tony's response after one argument with Janice was, "you want more responsibility, start by controlling your wife"
furb393 2 years ago
Paulie would destroy Bobby

dude, Bobby beat up Tony! i think bobby would win....
scarface3131983 2 years ago 11
but tony was ill after being shot, correct me if i'm wrong. Paulie is my favourite character same with Bobby but theres something about Paulie where I can see him beating the crap out of christopher and bobby if a fight broke down. The writter of the show would have to let paulie win, hes character is so bad ass
antoniocuban 2 years ago
I agree with you, Although Paulie is Tough, and crafty, Baccala is Big , and Thick as a Brick Wall . Tony's fight with him at the Place upstate was a fair fight(even though he believed he was drunk,a nd the carpet slipped out from underneath him(excuses) T's new nick name from that episode should be called Monopoly Hotel stuck to my face man
phallystorm 2 years ago
Correction, Bobby beat up a drunk Tony. Tony was drunk and he still throw a few good punches and I don't even like Tony, I'm more in favor of bobby.

@scarface3131983 tony was recently gutshot and he still nearly won. what does that tell ya??
dontleademsomuch 1 year ago
@scarface3131983 bobby beat up tony cuz bobby was defending his woman and tony didnt see it coming...notice how in the time it took for bobby to sit up, paulie was already on his feet, and in bobby's face. i think paulie would win, but he would take an ass woopin, and prob die or be hospitalized for heart problems

i really wanted 2 see Bobby kick Paulie's ass dont get me wrong Paulie is one of my favorite charactes but throughout da seasons 4,5,and 6 he was such an asshole im surprised he didnt die and Chrissy, and Bobby. Eventhough Tony thought about killing Paulie i think he should have acted on it cuz Paulie was playing both sides until he found out Johnny Sack didnt tell Carmine about him
reyfuego360 2 years ago 4
I agree. I would have loved to see Bobby mop the floor with Paulie. But I never liked Paulie's character. He was always whining about one thing or another. I had hoped Christopher would get a chance to blow him away.
jksonny 2 years ago
and Bobby could do it. He fucking beat Tony in a fair fight. And Tony's a fucking Bull! Paulie is like the malevolent Keith Richards of this series. He's the last member of the crew standing with T at the end. Like Keith, he'll outlive cockroaches after a nuclear holocaust.
ZeropointZero70 2 years ago 4
Paulie was an asshole, but he was nice for the show.. I mean, if all made men in The Sopranos were nice guys nobody would have watched the series.
paulusman92 2 years ago 2
So, against a bad-bad-guy like Phil, Paulie would become a good-bad-bad guy.
jksonny 2 years ago 3
Haha true.. Bobby Bacala is a good example of a good-bad guy.
