People complain about Ang Lee's film. I loved it, but Leterrier's film was more satisfactory, but I digress. If it weren't for Lee's film, I would never have known about this series. It is a favourite from my tween years and cemented the Hulk/Bruce Banner as not just my favourite comic book character(s), but characters who I relate to immensely and mean so much to me.
The Hulk's paint fade away then there's still picture morph back to human. Not sure if it was a re-edit or this is how it was back in those days- technology.
Great that today can see more believable Hulk - thanks to people who responsible for create, animate etc Hulk
you see that? when he gets water to put on his cuts on his arm, the paint comes off his hand, then he looks at his hand as if to say, "aww shit that was not supposed to happen!"
man wot a flash back.. i used to watch this wilst eating refreshers sweets and liqourish dips . when it finished we would all go out and palay fox,and hounds .haha that was nearly 20 years ago.. ace.
I love the way he just gazes at his reflection watching himself change back - funny how in The Death of The Incredible Hulk he says he's never seen the creature before.
But these "flash backs" are just disjointed memories of what he was doing at the time. Just because we, the viewers, get to see the Hulk during those brief recollections that doesn't mean David saw himself from the same perspective!
In "Death Of The Incredible Hulk" David is actually shown clear video footage of his other self; something which was unprecedented.
And, he "saw" it in the episode "Married," when he was under hypnosis - but, he hadn't actually seen it in "real life" until that scene in "Death Of The Incredible Hulk".
In the "Married" episode, when he says to Dr. Fields, "I've come to you because of your pioneering work in using hypno-therapy to control physical ailments. I think that hypno-therapy COULD help ME control THAT!"
Then in "The First," when Del shows David the newspaper clip and says, "This is you, isn't it?"
Lou probably wont bcuz of Bill's death, I can only imagine it would cause him pain to react the show without his friend, he's still insecure from Bill's sad death.
I can tell you got this from the DVD. I bought the same one and it also has that crappy interference through the change. When they came out with the Incredible Hulk collection DVD set, it STILL had the same interference. ALL of them had it and it wasn't fixed when the collection DVD set was released.
I'm not talking about the funny sound effect when he changes, I'm referring to that static noise that begins at :48 and got louder at :54. It's an static noise that occurs if something is not grounded properly or if the wrong wires touch.
That was neat! It's too bad they didn't work harder on special effects back then. Although, in 1977, they didn't have the special effects of today. Still, great job.
as probably one of the youngest fans of the show that was cool

Yes Bill Bixby was a great actor. This show would have never have succeeded without him. I loved this show as a child.

However, I should add that David has at least seen photos of the Hulk on the cover of the National Register.

Good point - two immediately come to mind -
In the "Married" episode, when he says to Dr. Fields, "I've come to you because of your pioneering work in using hypno-therapy to control physical ailments. I think that hypno-therapy COULD help ME control THAT!"
Then in "The First," when Del shows David the newspaper clip and says, "This is you, isn't it?"
And, I'm sure there are others.

He hadn't seen the creature before in that context, in action that is.

They need to try & do a new TV series using a human like. I wish Lou would get back in the make-up but I doubt it.

Can yo tell us what episode that scene is from. I'm thinking about buying some of the season-by-season releases. I'd like to see that episode.
