They have the right idea but the space shuttle is no more in service. We will have to wait until they develop heavier lift launchers for bigger pay loads.Bigelow, will most likely will take over space tourism designs so NASA can ex-span there space horizon plan...Also,there is no way we will go back to the moon with NASA proposed unrealistic cramp capsol plan, with out bigelows plan to send at least 3 habitat pods on the moons surface.
@jorintelis. Has anybody asked why pressure is not put on African governments to sort out their hunger crisis, which is mostly caused by war? And I'm an African.
I heard that it would cost $10,000 or something for the Hotel or something. If its $10,000 per night well thats really cheap for 3 days I can stay there and use the money for space instead of buying a new car...
only billionaires can afford to travel to space, space company's, public & private, have spent billions to make the space trip cheaper, until they come up with something drastic me and other average Joe's will just have to watch from the sidelines :l

human cant fly, human cant go to the moon, human cant live on space.. yah right! but one thing is for sure. some human have their brain upside down. Nega!
I hope everybody has seen the evidence that the Apollo moon missions were faked in a studio. There's a partial summary of the evidence posted on a science forum. To see it, google "The Naked Scientists". In the "New Theories" section of the forum there's a thread entitled "Did We Land on the Moon?". It's on page 15. It's the 7th post from the top.
we should make like a city into space :D where tourists can go on vacations and shit :D xD or hotels on the moon but that will be available when we discover something like the flying saucer which I think they already stole.. anyway so I was saying that something like the flying saucer that cna travel very fast ans safe will be awesome for going into space ;X
there is a way similar to building ships at sea..all they need is infrastructure in space to build the ship modified for space travel - like a submarine in space..only bigger.
no way we could do that right know if we just sent a type of space ship that was disposable like one of the mooner landers and on the space hotel there would be other little space ships that shoot people back down to earth.
Actually, this plan does invovle using current hardware, like the shuttle's ET and liquid boosters.
The Delta Clipper is current the transport vessel, but they are looking at a future use of a simplified version of the space shuttle. From another video on this, Space Island's shuttle would do what NASA's shuttle was dreamt of doing.
@GreatExterminator ever hear of the Venture Star? That's what we NEED to continue funding in order to make space economical. But before the shitty bush administration floored that project. We need to reopen it! it's a crew carrying vehicle that Doesn't require any stage separations. And has a new innovative heat shield (unlike the shuttles traditional tile system) This thing can land like an orbiter BUT in a matter of DAYS like 2 or 1 it can be refueled and relaunched.
@chickensupdude Too bad "we" will probably be bankrupt and left behind. But I'd be quite optimistic for the Chinese --- a culture that actually values hard work and produces, instead of spending all day trying to become actors/artists/directors,etc.
No, no, for Americans space will soon be far too expensive. Heck, NASA might have to be cut to make way for the welfare state. Glad I moved to capitalist China (20% of GDP is govt spending) from Communist USA (50% of GDP is govt spending).
@Cyrus255 We humans are so ignorants, we spent so much money on shit. We spent millions for nothing, only for our selfs. It has been my live dream to travel to space and now only the rich can. 20 million for 7 days in space, i would pay it. BUt i dont have that money, imagine that. A space station hotel for all types of people, 900 dollars a day. With pools, tv, internet ect. Just like a hotel, so many people would love to travel and Nasa will gain lots of money from it. But no, money for oil.
@EpiDemic117 Over 50% of US GDP is government spending.
This means the USA is over 50% central planned. That being the definition of Communism, then the USA is over 50% communist by definition. The US has the HIGHEST corporate tax rate in the developed world, has twice as high of an income tax as China, and then has state taxes to top it off.
So unfortunately for you, the USA is the MOST communist country in the world right now (China is capitalist-in-denial).
@chickensupdude that is actually a great idea! first we need to find ways to cut costs in terms of launching a vehicle into low earth orbit. So far the only way we see it is expending TONS of energy. traditional rocket engines shown in this vid simply won't work in terms of practicality. What we need is a linear aerospike engine.
I have been keeping an eye on Space Island Group for several years, but to me they have appeared only to be stagnant. Don't get me wrong however, I like most of their ideas. Great for micro-gravity research and manufacturing centers. Assuming they can work out the flaws I have noticed in their plans and secure initial funding.
when do we see some action from these guys... i mean there are many companys saying that they are going to build up space tourism... but very few actually doing somthing in the real world to make it happen (ie) virgin galactic

Yes, the American space shuttle is to be phased out in 2010 so the parts might be up for grabs. This opens up a new age of space travel; an age where it privatizes and the technology advances quickly like with computers.
Government pays for its launch vehicles by taking the cost of production and the company then adds a certain percentage, usually 9.7-10.0 percent, for pure profit, as a result there has been little evolution of launch vehicles since the 1970's. There is simply no money in innovation in this type of dealing.
Resulting in a stagnate space program that cant even achieve the same progress as its 1970's predecessor with the same relative funding.

2:58 a possible error in the animation?
I don't think the core could make it to orbit with the shuttle if the boosters where still attached.
If the carrier rocket is using Delta IV CBCs it would be dragging an extra 107MT into orbit.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love space travel?
(2) Why do we want to have a space holiday?
(3) Why do we enjoy to stay at a space hotel?
(4) What will be your best entainments in a space hotel resort?
(5) What will be your favorite food in the space hotel?
TAHNK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

The company is still around but they replaced the shuttle with a conic DCY type vehicle that uses a shuttle ET for extra fuel.
If Orion is switched from Ares to Jupiter aka Direct launcher the shuttle ET tooling will remain unchanged.
Also Jupiter 120 core stages can be left in orbit for use in stations like this.
Membrane556 3 years ago 3
Does the conic DCY vehicle work as a rocket?
Does it blast people in space?
