  • Look who it the reverse mail stalker ! Any good PO Box combinations lately ? I'm curious what makes you scum fucks tick ?

  • BRUTAL SOUND ...

  • how old is it?

  • he looks high.

  • That's interesting. I guess the single they're talking about wasn't ever released and Can I Say became the LP with Smalley instead. It would have been cool if they did release a single with Shawn on vocals.

  • Great video! Dave Smalley's voice was the voice of Dag Nasty for me but I came about it in reverse from ALL. Shawn Brown's voice rules in a different way which led me to Swiz who are fucking incredible. I really liked the way the dust settled with all these bands...except Junkyard, of course.

  • sorry, but i like shawn brown's voice a lot more than dave smalley's.

  • I was at this show lol

  • Brian Baker looks so fucking young here. XD How old is he?

  • lets say this video was recorded at 1985/86 so that means he was 20y.o.. he looks young! right now he is 44

  • @6athacre i think around 20...not quite sure, but within his very early twenties

  • One or two of these birds were my bike messengers at Metro in DC. Many moons!

  • Dave Smalley was HARDLY the voice of Dag Nasty. This video demonstrate how stronger Dag Nasty were with Shawn on vocals. After listening to Shawn sing "Can I Say," hearing the album version with Dave on vocals sounds lame in comparison. Shawn's voice is heavier and more aggressive, which fits the music perfectly. Smalley sounds like an adolescent struggling to find his range.

  • stupid.

  • i actually love both singuers XD just getting into this band but i love DYS and im loving dag nasty

  • great band

  • racist are ya maybe?

  • nah he's just trying to bait people. he's boring.

  • Don't talk about your daddy like that boy!

  • racist prick....

  • Brown always reminded me of some sales guy they took from a clothing store at the mall. Smalley made this band. Period.

  • Dave Smalley WAS and IS the VOICE that made Dag Nasty an awesome band

  • @Buddhist2k true!

  • this is GREAT! thanx! yeah i loved swiz in 88 89 day in day out......you lie to me.....so cool

  • Hey! One asshole on the mic at a time!

  • More Sean Brown-Dag Nasty!!! Put some Swiz up!!!

  • shawn brown is an amazing dude and a great tattoo artist and i fucking love dag nasty and jesuseater.

  • he does tatoos?

  • tattoos

  • Excuse me for the observation, but dude's like a brown Mackaye...

  • Hahaha, so true. Their vocal styles are practically identical.

  • Mackaye actually produced these guys at one point

  • yeah man totally!

  • who cares about this guy Shawn Brown, and the guy after Smalley.

    Dave Smalley WAS Dag Nasty.

no one else has or could have done it better. period.

  • saw these guys in Bmore at the loft. Killer!

  • emo my arse. they were a hardcore band full stop emotionional hardcore was just a term some guy in a fanzine used to describe the rites of spring album. after that any band that sounded remotely like rites of spring or weren't quite as intense as minor threat were tarred with the same brush. like ian mckaye said "as if hardcore weren't emotional enough already." check it out it's on youtube.

  • True Old School Hardcore is what this is.. Shawn Brown nailed this song!

    he yelled this song out!!!

    It sounds fucking brilliant!..

so much better than the poppy screamo shit that people mistake as hardcore now days..

cheers XXXPluckyXXX for uploading the :)

  • check out incinerate by this band it sounds like a Bad R song

  • Dag Nasty...!!!!!!

  • Still, the first emo band. They was the band who made the genre. One of the first, atleast. The emoes we got today is something different than it was at that time. Still they were the first emo band, k?

  • damn that sounds fucking great

  • It was one of the first EMO-bands. I don't mean people who cut themselves and stuff like that, but it is a music type, and that music type is EMO, because the text is about feelings.

  • Pretty much all punk bands write songs about their feelings, actually, most bands in general. doesnt make them "Emo"

  • EMOs are just retarded people that didn't understand the point. this is hardcore, fast and loud, and talking about other kind of feelings, not the sadness cause the pretty face doesn't care about them

  • who gives a shit what genre it is. its fast, and its catchy. just shut up and enjoy.

  • Dude who the fuck would say this is emo? I used to skate to this band back in mid 80's. EMO wasn't even a classification back then for music. WTF? Retards

  • I would not classify Dag Nasty as Emo, but you've gotta admit the tag, Emo, has changed a bit, even in the last 10 years let alone 20. As mentioned Rites of Spring etc, then in the 90s I think of Braid Jets To Brazil, etc, and now Black Hair, backpacks, tight black pants and complete trendy faggots.

  • yeah it was it was just small

  • rik & reject: maybe you should read up on your music history...

  • Wow, how you think this is emo is beyond me ..... they arent whining .... crying .... they are aggresive angry and fast .... so i dont see the emo in it .... they also dont have droves of fans who cut themselfs dye their hair jet black and cry ....

  • Dude it's not Emo in those years there wasn't a style named Emo ... and its Punk dude, just because they're screaming and singing about the bad sides of love doesn't mean it's emo ... morons

  • is emo?

  • u retard?

  • Not really. Dag Nasty are in fact a Emo band.

Just like Rites of Spring, Gray Matter, pg.99, and many more.

  • and indian summer, fugazi, still life, moss icon, and as u said many more

  • dont forget minor threat

  • tight as fuck

  • what a huge assumption that we are amazing, but in this case you are correct sir!

  • sweet with Sean Brown,I was not expecting that.

I like Can I Say either way really.

  • what the fuck do you mean STILL punk?

    Idiots....

  • tabs plese

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D

  • Man does this bring back memories! Sean, are you still in DC?

  • I used to see him all the time about 3-4 years ago in College Park. I don't actually know the guy, but still...

  • shawn brown is still living in MD. he works at Tattoo Paradise and is still an amazing guy. Sorry this is kinda late..but just thought you'd want to know :)

  • Sean is a cool motherfucker great tatt artist on top of it.

  • does anyone know the amp set up brian baker is playing on this video?

  • I remember that Brian generally was into a basic marshall set up... all the knobs up except the mids, which he kept all the way down...

  • Saw their first and their last show. They were great.

  • many memories of many car rides, shoving this tape in and escaping.

tom d, tim t, think of you 2 often

  • More like you're a complete moron.

  • Dag nasty is good.

  • Dag nasty rocks STFU!

  • shawn brown is cool as fuck..no ego and a stand up dude..this rules

  • i can't listen to Dag Nasty without Sean Brown. with him i think the band was phenomenal.

  • I agree , i didnt really like can i say with Dave Smalley. Sean Brown wrote the lyrics to all those songs, and the shit they wrote after he left blows.

  • the real emo

  • tightest band ever.

  • Salsa Brown

  • I believe Minor Threat would have sounded like this if they had continued in going towards the more melodic direction....As for Dys and Dag Nasty sucking I have to disagree. Yeah it was different and I will say that after the first Dys record they became horrendous.

  • Nice Dag Nasty video. Brian definitely ran that band. Here's a link to one of my Rites of Spring videos, "Spring." I have 10 or so Rites of Spring videos posted.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_NvawdVCME

  • I like Shawn Brown a lot more in Swiz, but I also like Dave Smalley in Dag Nasty. So it all works out.

  • Shawn Brown ... one of the best HC singers ever. Swiz were great, Sweetbelly Freakdown, Jesuseater, all good bands, his vox add power to any song.

  • best singer. you could cut the tension with a knife!

  • one of my absolute fav bands ever

  • like a black ian mackay

  • Wow, that's an early video. Shawn Brown is doing vocals.

  • K I L L E R!
