I may be wrong, but... I thought there was only ONE version of Edith singing this epic song - and this is not it! The orchestra and piano players were clearly modern, and "Edith" did not look like the Edith I have just been looking at. If it was the real Edith her estate would have given their permission for this advert (one in a long series), but I suspect that was not Edith in the clip. Anyone from Specsavers want to comment?

This advert is just disgraceful. It is a cheap joke which is not even funny. If Edith Piaf were alive today she would most certainly have a go herself and not in a very nice way.

The radio version is a lot worse as it features a man in a posh voice "translating" each line after they are sung, by reciting the fake subtitles you see in the advert.

Poor Edith Piaf, she really went through the worst to give us the best.

I don't think its that disrespectful, I think she's a terrific singer who deserves to be remembered, and it's nice that they've chosen her over some current 18-year-old singer in hot pants. I think the advert is pretty funny, and I'm sure if she was alive today she would laugh at it too.
