I think it sucks when a game ends on a cliffhanger. It does not mean the game sucks, Shenmue is an awesome game but when they do not even give you a bit of closure just to make you buy a possible sequel that might never come (like Beyond Good and Evil) it really grinds my shit.

They did the same with Syberia, an adventure game I absolutely love in spite of this fact.

Have you noticed Ryu's bandaid and Lan-Di's scar are in the same spot? There's another parallel to the rest of their similarities, other than character and appearance traits we can assume Lan-Di took out Ryu's pappy cause of this supposed person he killed, presumably Lan-Di's dad, possibly the chinese guy in the photo..

Anyway, I think that is Shenhua's father speaking at the end. The North Star also flickers at the end and Shenhua tells you in Shenmue II that when it flickers something bad happens and that constellations affect the fate of people. I think the plot has something to do with stars as the Big Dipper is mentioned frequently in both games and there are constellations of the Dragon and Phoenix. But we will never know for sure unless Sega release Shenmue III.

Well it was a pretty good "Let's play" in my opinion. My only complaints are when you'd talk over the scenes with good music purposely (even though you acknowledged that the music was good and that your voice was ruining it). And my second complaint is that you had a very bad tendency to spoil not only parts of this game, but the Shenmue II as well. It's a good thing for me Shenmue III isn't out yet, otherwise you would have probably spoiled parts of it. Anyway aside from those it was nice.

The boat sequence counts as a chapter i think. So originally is was meant to be a playable part I think. That would of been cool. Maybe if sega ever do a redux/directors cut remake of the Shenmue games for Wii,PS3,360 or whatever next gen then they might include a boat chapter.

At the end of Shenmue 2 Ryo follow a girl called Shenua to her home and outside is a huge tree called Shenmue.

The Shenmue games are named after that tree.

Probably was something magical about it.

Believe me Shenmue is by far the greatest game ever created in my opinion so yes its more than worth buying a Dreamcast for it.

Shenmue 2 is also one of the greatest games of all time but Shenmue 1 is better.

Theres lots of other great games for the DC but Shenmue is a must buy.

READ ME: ahhhhhhhh, i just litteraly spent two days watching this whole lets play from start to finish, my back and shoulders hurt and sun light hurts my eyes. i wanted to see the first part of the story though and it was awsome. scotduck was also a nice host, voice wasnt annoying or anything. however my conclusion is that shenmue 2 is greater than the original, its bigger, more things to do, more places, more scenery and veriety, more fights, more ways to make mney, more of everything. thanks.

That looks like a great game. I'd probably play it if I got a Dreamcast and if I could also play Shenmue 2, but Shenmue 2 is only available in Europe and Japan, right? (I live in the United States) Anyway, about Shenmue 3, I HOPE Sega can continue the storyline, but it looks like they're too busy trying to keep Sonic alive. There was a big mistake I made that e me get stuckon a part on disc 3. Instead of taking the proper route to warehouse no. 8 (I think), I took another route and that never triggered the cutscene.

The game was absolutely amazing. There is no doubt to it. I remember playing when I was a real young kid and finishing disk 1. I was so happy, but when I went and put in disk 2, it was scratched and refused to work. It haunted me, never finishing, and finally I have some closure.
