Mrs. Danvers is the real classic villain. I might add her with the other classic villains, Napoleon from Animal Farm, Buxton The Blue Cat from Dougal and the Blue Cat, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and The Wicked Witch of The West from The Wizard of Oz.
'Rebecca' is an all-time classic! Won best Oscar for 1940. I'm sure the only one still around today is Joan Fontaine. Judith Anderson played a fantastic role!
Love this movie.Thanks for posting it.Mrs. Danvers was a total louse but,she makes the film.I like the other lines she has about Rebecca's underwear,see- through nighty, etc.Such obsessive devotion!!Poor Joan Fontaine!!She was so abused by almost all the characters in the film.
I would not need as scary and audacious a housekeeper as Mrs. Danvers. The role must have worked well to get Jidith Anderson stereotyped.

Judith Anderson, the best villain in film industry...she is simply perfect I can't help see her in my mind whenever I re-read the book
